@GeroldBroser I'm not sure how long they can be edited. It's not something that I've ever needed to know.
@RouxMartin In general I agree with you. UX isn't about what my preference is, but rather what is likely to be a preference for most users of a given product. I have some preferences that are very different from most people, and it's my job to put those aside and design for the customer.

@JohnGB I prefer the flexible approach–both as user and designer/developer–: To each his own, rather than forcing someone/many into a corset just because the (solely statistical) majority shows a tendency (which in addition tends to change periodically, almost like in fashion).

@JohnGB Thanks John, I wouldn't expect anything less from a seasoned moderator here - getting out of your own skin and understanding what's best for the users is the core of what we do.
@GeroldBroser It feels like you’re deliberately choosing to ignore how logic works. If there was strong evidence showing no advantage to limiting lines between 7 and 14 words then UX designers wouldn’t limit line lengths between 7 and 14 words. If you have strong enough evidence, it WILL change the way we think about line lengths in layouts. So, I’m asking again: where is your evidence?

It feels like you’re deliberately choosing to ignore how individualism and freedom of choice works.

" You’ve tried to disguise it as knowledge" in your previous post is outrageous. Re "your reputation will plateau" – I'm no "rep whore" here (not my creation, I read that a few times on different SE sites). Surely, it's nice to get upvoted but I don't really care. I don't need it for my personal-well-being. I'm here to share my knowledge, my 45 year long experience with commputers of different kind, users from around the world

And, I'm not going to write here once more. Hitting <Enter> for a new line out of habit but instead sending the unfinished posting and not being able to edit it afterwards is tedious. My time is too precious for that.
