Q: When did shree ram born?

SiddharthAs I know and also Wikipedia says shree ram was born in middle half of treta yug. And this page also says treta yug lasted 1296000 years. But this page and also the film Ram setu says lord ram born approximately 7000 years ago. But according to the treta yug it should be far more than 7000 years ...

Modern historians and ancient sages have different things to say. You cannot link modern theories and traditional things everytime. :)
One more thing...I would give you a genuine advice that don't depend on wikipedia for getting informations on Sanatana Dharma :)
So he was born in treta yuga only if you believe in yugas. Even some other scriptures say..If I recall correctly.... that in the 21st treta yuga of vaivasvat manavantara, shri rama will take birth.
@LSSJBroly If they both are contradictory which to believe. As both are true at there places. Why will the carbon dating gives a false result?
I personally believe that it happened in treta yuga..And sorry it was 24th treta yuga..Not 21st..We are in 28th kaliyuga..
Regarding modern science and carbon dating...Umm..I cannot say much because science is still developing itself...what if science says tomorrow that this info was wrong..And something else is actually the truth. For example.. how The models of atom were developed
@LSSJBroly, but its not a thoery this time like in discovering atom it was. It has prove(s) this time. And also carbon dating isn't a single method. There are several method regarding age determining the all determined approximately same age.
Can it be happen that our religious books wrote something else amd some misinterpreted it. Like " 33 kuti devta" to be 33 crore devta which was wrong.
As I said before..I cannot predict about modern science on this buddy :)
About 33 koti devatas...We have different opinions here...Some believe as you said and some believe that 33 koti devatas are actually present. You can see a post which I linked below
Also, have a look at this. hinduism.stackexchange.com/q/16693/26679

I actually believe that "कोटि" wasn't reffering crores
So your final answer is thaf shree ram born far more than 7000 years ago. Right?
If u ask me.. Yeah...far more than 7000...About 19-20 million years ago (u can calculate time from 24th treta to 28 kaliyuga)
Please don't merge traditional history with actual history. We don't disrespect Rāmāyaṇa or Rāma by this, but we just want to be clear. The current scientific and geological consensus (including report by Archaeological Survey of India) says that Adam's bridge is a natural geologic formation and not a man-made bridge as such. Also, we don't know much about Rāma historically and at what point of history he actually existed. Wikipedia and movies are not a good source of learning such info.
According to tradition, we can point out when Rāma existed, but there is lack of sufficient historical data to verify that. Traditional history can often conflict with actual history, so it's better not to confuse the two together. Of course, you can believe in traditional history and we respect your belief and don't want to disturb that, but your belief in it must not confuse it with the actual history. That goes even for the belief in yuga theory, which is not verified actually. Even by tradition, yuga theory bears no mention in śruti, only in smr̥ti is it mentioned.
And in such cases, śruti always takes authority over smr̥ti. Many so-called Hindus often forget this fact in the sway of itihāsa texts
@Bingming first of all that's not adam bridge, that's Ram setu. Keep that in mind. Adam's bridge is a false name.
@Bingming Ram setu is a man made structure. Is been scientifically proven, go to wikipedia.
@Bingming it matters. Please don't disrespect our great Sanatana dharma. If I call your work by someone other's name, what would be the feelings?
@Bingming “That goes even for the belief in yuga theory, which is not verified actually. ” <—— This gives me pause. I take lots stuffs w/ a grain of salt & I go for more analogy type interpretations of many stories. But yug going on, chaturyugs, kalp, repeating universe are talked about in so many Hindu texts. I just take it literally. Could be a large mistake in understanding 😳 I can’t figure out if yuga cycles are a historical measurable thing or if it’s more analogy and illustrative rather than actual. Free will & time cycles in Hindu texts are big time making me lose sleep these days 😭
@devibhakt Actually the yuga theory features in the smr̥ti texts such as Purāṇas, Mahābhārata particularly and dharmaśāstras such as Manusmr̥ti, but it has no mention in the śruti. Śruti refers to the Vedas which includes saṁhitās, brāhmaṇas , āraṇyakas and the mukhya upaniṣads. In none of the Vedic lit. are yugas mentioned. It's not an actual historical thing, it's more of a part of traditional history. Many sects and traditions have their own histories, which includes Jains and Buddhists having their own traditional histories.
There are astronomical works such as Sūrya Siddhānta, however those too don't mention the yugas as in the Purāṇas, they may use the term however it's not to refer to Satya, Treta, Dvapara, or Kali. It's usually referring to the period of orbit of the planets and things like that. It's important to note that the astronomical texts don't follow the Purāṇic terminology fully, they have their own defined terminology following from the Vedāngas. Purāṇas contain much traditional history facts such as origin of river Gangā in an fantastical way, however some overly fanatic Hindus take it literally

@Bingming Right. While so many people busily calculating exact year lengths & all this stuff. However. I do think there is some kind of repetition time cycles that go on, just not sure how exactly that works. Yug, chaturyugs, kalp are some kind of general broad indication of those. Just like there is some kind of hierarchy of higher level gods, of course. But people arguing whether to call the OG ones as Shiv or Vishnu which is just ridiculous semantics. But that & Hinduism time cycles are indicators of greater reality imo. Thx again for the detailed info & replies, much appreciated friend 🕉
