Milestone #2 complete

@RydwolfPrograms If you're worried about that, it can be kicked up to Staff for them to check.
@mousetail Plenty of people confuse Meta.SE with Facebook's Meta.

@Mast I think people smart enough to be able to design programing languages are smart enough to keep a conference and site appart. That being said I support "Programming Language Development" or some other name

It's rarely the smart users we have to be concerned about, they'll do okay either way :-)

Yea but only smart people would know about the conference

I support PLID as the site name, Programming Language Development would also work fine
IMO PLID would be slightly better since it makes it clearer that we cover both implementation and design tho

Q: Will questions about building and maintaining a programming language's community or contributors be allowed?

Redwolf ProgramsProposal: Programming Language Design and Implementation Basically what is says on the tin. On CGCC we have a couple of questions about golfing language design, one of which partially focuses on what's possibly the most important and hard-to-get-right aspect of it: actually getting users. Will we...

As long as you don't go for PID, that would just be confusing.

How so?

It refers to too many things already.
Packet identifier, parameter ID, PID controllers, P&ID diagrams, passive infrared detectors...
It's a long list. Engineers apparently like to shorten things to PID.

@NikeDattani FYI that number is steadily increasing due to a certain user who ignores the sandbox
(but she posts good quality questions mostly, so idc about the sandbox misses in that case)

@NikeDattani do it

yesterday, by Rydwolf Programs
Yeah it's better to discuss things in chat, decide as a group to delegate to meta, and then decide on the wording and context to include in the post together

A: Magic wand time - what does your community need?

MastForce new users to take a quiz Yes, this is fairly radical. But many sites get so many off-topic questions that it's taking the most time of all the moderation tasks. Much of that can be prevented, since many people simply didn't know their question would be ill-received. All users that are new t...

Way ahead of you.
The VP of Community wasn't totally against it, so it may be time for a real feature-request.
There's something to this idea; the more I think about it the more it intrigues me. If we could incentivize them somehow to take a quiz, by giving them something they want, we might get away with it. — Philippe ♦ Aug 4, 2021 at 8:20
Feel free to borrow from it or link to it in your request.

The incentive is that passing the quiz gives them permission to ask questions on the site :)

@Mast "by giving them something they want" ask the question lol
