@gerrit your remark all models are wrong reminds me of a story told in our programming and modeling class on the importance of preventing rounding errors. At our university a model was written to predict/retrodict plate movement, which initially accelerated within a few million years to plate movement at or above the speed of light :-P I think that's when the phrase 'well that escalated quickly' was born :-P

@hugo, geology is full of potential double-entrendres. As well as a good bit of boudinage, there are orogenic zones, cleavage, cross-bedding, etc...
