Countries don't like to teach about the horrible things they did in the past? No no no this must be some mistake :P

@Yuuki make it obscure enough and you will slip away with them with no problem.
Censorship hasn't really stopped manga authors from referencing WWII events in comics

10:49 AM
@trogdor I think you may be interested in this video...
this guy is slowly recreating Stardew Valley main city inside Dreams.

11:06 AM
inside what?

11:24 AM
Dreams. A Ps4 game. Just released in public availability after a beta period
You know Little Big Planet?
Same company.
in this case the game is more oriented to create dream-like scenarios, but people are already recreating environments from other games.

ooooh

@trogdor this trailer is quite old, but IMHO it is the best one.
Very evocative, gives out the whole "dreamlike" vibes they were aiming for.
As you can see, the game is built in a way that content you create has a cell-shaded, painting look
yet, since you basically have a blender-like tool at your disposal to create new models, people are going quite crazy.

11:43 AM
lol

omg
come on guys
XD

I mean honestly that is some good work on the Crash Bandicoot but why XD

@trogdor this is one of the few times a Big Bang Theory quote is actually appropiate.
> Because we can.

11:55 AM
lol

I kinda hope some (probably Japanese) crazy guy has the idea to recreate the Dream Emulator landscapes inside the game.
I... could actually try.
Abstract enough to be doable
@trogdor btw in case you were interested
I doubt I have the skill....
But given the watercolor art-style....

I don't think I could do that either

Ever seen Kurosawa's "Yume"?
Also known as "Dreams"?
1990 movie.
There is a sequence in that movie, called "Crows". A painter has a sort of "awaken dreams" while looking at a painting by Vincent Van Gogh.

I have not

this is the full sequence.
For some reason, from the first instant I saw that game I was reminded of this.
@trogdor see this creation for example.
note - it was made by an user, but he took the idea from an old trailer the company made - a painting becomes animated as you enter it. Can't find that trailer again, but this is the next better thing.

12:18 PM
fair enough
I see the connection at any rate

1:13 PM
btw since we're talking about dreamlike surreal stuff, I want to share an animation
It's Estonian, the name means "Time Out". It's from 1984 and I love it. (Non-verbal, no need to know the alien tongues of the Finnougrics)

1:28 PM
also that music is so catchy
pa-padaa pa-padaa da-dahh (baa-da-da-da dah, da-da!)

2:57 PM
also, someone was able to recreate a Portal - like level.

Speaking of Dreams, I had an odd dream last night.
It started out like some kind of normal dream, fighting some kind of monster. Beat the monster and then all of sudden, I had this kind of fourth wall clarity where I knew the next enemies to fight. And then I had a weird thought, "okay, I think it makes much more narrative sense if the final fight is the evil prince instead of the king because he's a mirror of the player character". And then I somehow knew that the two enemies switched places in sequence.

@Yuuki clarity as in "this is a dream"?
Because in that case... that is just lucid dreaming. Somehow rare but nothing to worry about.

3:13 PM
Maybe? Not sure.
I just thought it kinda funny to dream about proper narrative conventions.

The other option is that the D&D obsession is making its way to dreams too and you are starting to gm your own dreams. That is more worrisome. :P
If that is not cure soon enough, you will have to roll dices during dreams too.

@Derpy Yeah, that was my first thought.

@Yuuki worst cases often degenerate in Rolemaster-based dreams, and you don't want to bring Rolemaster tables to the dream.

3:30 PM
@Yuuki that said, I am not in the position to judge the sanity of other people dreams.

4 hours later…
7:54 PM
@kviiri oh cool
extremely weird
XD
I didn't watch all of it

3 hours later…
11:22 PM
@Derpy lol
