@Lambie do you believe that every moderator is deliberately unfair or biased? One bad experience with a moderator, and I've had my share, does not exclude there being some great people who know their stuff. Wonderful mediators, people who know when to intervene and when to just let things fizzle out.
Do you think that it makes no difference who becomes an ELL mod? What if a candidate is under-qualified for the role? Maybe they speak in broken English, and have a limited understanding of standard English grammar. Maybe the nominee has a history of being aloof and unfriendly; has never participated on meta; or has never helped users to clarify their posts, I could go on.
If you recognise that a candidate has none of the negative characteristics listed above but is knowledgeable in English and has two or more positive traits please vote for that person or persons. You can vote for only one nominee, if you like.
@Mari-LouA No, of course not and I find the question somewhat leading...No, I think it makes very little difference. That said, I have found more than four on ELL and ELU to be over the top.
@Lambie Four! Wow, that many. Not my experience. There was one thoroughly dislikeable person who was elected as a moderator, I gritted my teeth and waited and lo and behold that person left EL&U after a few years. But oh boy was that person blinkered and rigid.
@Lambie Oh come on Lambie, I wasn't THAT mean to you :) Moderating on SE is hard because it's all in text. Honestly, I think there would be a lot less drama if we sometimes just talked instead of typed.
I think a lot of times people get the short end of the stick because of the way they're communicating and not necessarily what they're saying or doing.
