@vzn I see. We're using some words differently.
In my world, doing research and publishing technical results is not "debate".
To be honest, I think most scientists would agree with me on that.
Debate is usually applied when there are differences in opinion on the interpretation of established results, or when there's question about the validity of certain results.
I would not characterize the paper you linked as debate.

@DanielSank personally prefer to use the dictionary dictionary.com/browse/debate ... as you may know, there have been many famous scientific debates/ controversies throughout history & qm computing viability/ feasibility is one of them. its been going on for decades at this point. scientific debate takes a different form, stylized, but at heart its still unquestionably a debate... a vaguely similar debate took place in mid 19th century with the babbage computer...
