Oh dear, I didn’t notice that there were \\ inside $$...$$ without any proper environment. This is basically invalid syntax, and it is not supposed to work. (In actual LaTeX, it doesn’t produce a line break.) You seem not to have submitted the edit, so I will. — Emil Jeřábek 2 hours ago
I know that in LaTeX \\ does not work inside $$..$$. But I have noticed long time ago that it works in MathJax.
Is there some kind of official documentation saying how this is supposed to behave in MathJax?

ps new fact, did you know that you can also ask questions about MathJax on Stack Overflow :) ,I didn't know that
they have a tag about MathJax
I'll check the mathjax.org on another time tho, since I'm about to leave..
