An average Korean gift
@RydwolfPrograms a friend of mine described this photo as "hot"
so uh
do with that what you will
👁️👁️
one of the two things that I dislike about wireless headphones is forgetting whether i turned them on
because like I'll think "surely they're off, let me just press the on button rq"
and then I hear the power off noise
SAME
00:36
Oh my god yes
I wish they left an indicator light on to show they were on
@DannyuNDos Looks like someone spammed you with spam :P
wait do they seriously not do that
what the fuck
@user I have an indicator light and I still forget
Mine don't, at least
At least the light sensibly goes from red to blue when it's done charging
00:37
like looking in the reflection of my computer screen now I can see that it's on, but sometimes it's hard to see it based on lighting
@user mine goes from red to off
when charging
I have an electric razor whose light stays green while it's charging and turns off when it's done, which is a bit untuitive
And my parents have one that doesn't have a light at all, so you have no idea if it's done or not
@user yikes
@lyxal I guess that works too
iirc it's a different light to the indicator light
How do y'all clean the sweat out of the headphone cups?
I wanna remove them to clean them properly but it looks like that's not possible?
@lyxal Ooh nice, mine only have one light
00:40
mine have 3 :p
tbf they don't play music while they're charging so they don't need more than one
What does the third do?
charging indicator light, on/off light, and what I think is the active noise cancelling light
Nic
it's funny because I used to be a wireless earphone person, but now I don't think I could ever go back
headphones are so much nicer than earphones
Especially when your ears are leading the country in earwax production (couldn't be me)
00:43
oh boy my processor simulation is time travelling again :p
worst part is that I know why but I don't have a fix in mind
unless ofc i add quantum run events and pop remaining run events with the same process id if there's a page fault
that's stupid enough that it might work
well, not might
theoretically it will work
even copilot was a little confused as to what i was doing
it was suggesting other things instead of the for loop i wanted to write :p
:O java has a removeAll method for arraylists
which does exactly what i want without needing streams!!
because it takes a predicate and removes based on condition!
java you absolute legend
ah nope nvm it's not removeAll
it's removeIf :p
does...does it not take a lambda?
Do I need to typecast a lambda?
01:17
You should be able to make the argument a lambda, since Predicate is a functional interface
@lyxal Streams are great
They used to be my favorite thing about Java
@user i mean yeah, but conversion between stream and arraylist is annoying sometimes
Now what I like most about Java is that I don't have to use it
@lyxal Didn't Java 11 introduce .toList() on streams?
Or something of that sort?
ArrayList != List apparently
it causes problems
Wait why do you need to convert to an ArrayList specifically
Why not let it collect to a List?
@user Syntax error on token "BeginCaseExpr", delete this token
01:19
One big part of OOP is not unnecessarily narrowing types
@user because I'm using arraylists
Well use Lists instead ya dum-dum :P
I tried to have a list in an arraylist, but it was giving "method not supported" errors
@user I like my data structure types to be concrete :p
Can I see your code? (unless it's an academic dishonesty issue)
@lyxal Do you remember what these methods were?
eventQueue.removeIf(job -> job.e() == Event.RUN && job.p() == runningProcess);
@user .remove()
01:21
It should work, there's a remove method on Lists
it didn't like it
but that's besides the point
ArrayList doesn't seem to add too many extra methods to List, so this feels very surprising
for reference, I was assigning List to ArrayList
rather than the other way around
Well you should be declaring your variable as a List too
that doesn't solve the problem of Syntax error on token "BeginCaseExpr", delete this token
it's not liking the ->
01:24
Maybe try eventQueue = eventQueue.stream().filter(...).toList() then?
eventQueue.stream().filter(job -> !(job.e() == Event.RUN && job.p() == runningProcess));
still complains about the ->
whuhh...
Which Java version is this lol
SE-17
@lyxal Wait is this the error the Java compiler is giving you, or an error your pogram emits?
copmiler
*compiler
01:27
help, I got a new keyboard/mouse wireless set thingy and now my cursor has acceleration and I can't get it to turn off
Learn to live with it, I guess?
oh
@lyxal What happens if you write Predicate<Object> foo = o -> true; elsewhere?
it was because i had a stray } further down
01:28
bruh
wow vs code really unhelpful there
Very helpful of the compiler
Oh that was VS Code
and java compiler
vs code highlights compiler warnings
and errors

03:30
@UnrelatedString I ask that you lower your expectations a little :p
The concept is funny in theory, but the front facing nature of the image makes it way less versatile
At the very least rydwolf could have given me a less enthusiastic facial expression to work with
The look of apathy on the original field photo is half of what made edits funny
Meaning that's one less half I have to work with
Combine that with the loss of the other funny half and you've got maybe 2 or 3 joke types
Where as the original had way more
This is unironic /srs btw
The only redeeming quality about the photo is that it might be easier to extract the revelant rydwolf parts given that rydwolf is on a different enough coloured background than his shirt this time

1 hour later…
04:58
@Ginger Yeah I had to go to my hoco game and then work lol
@Ginger Understandable
@RydwolfPrograms hoco game? Really? You can't just call it homecoming like the rest of us? :p
Wait y'all have homecoming?
No
I had to google that
I figured it was a US thing lol
Oh nvm I guess it is
Specifically the phrase hoco game
I have a rough idea of what home coming is
05:10
We abbreviate homecoming to hoco since it's a long word and we use it a ton around this time of year :p
I think it's like what we call a formal
There's a parade, a tailgate, a football game, and a dance. I made it to two of those so that's pretty good ig
@RydwolfPrograms yeah but the fact I had to find out from a website called "stay hipp" is concerning
Am I slowly losing touch with the zoomers?
Is this what it feels like to be dlosc? :p
@lyxal Your formal could also be equivalent to our prom, unless y'all have those too
Ah its probably a prom equivalent
05:11
We're also planning a winter dance but that's not as much a tradition as hoco/prom are
Yeah no we don't do homecomings here
I'm kinda sad I'm not going to the dance
I just put off the decision until it was too late :/
Probably wouldn't have been that much I'm missing, just sucks I'll literally never have gone to a hoco dance
Or any dance even, excluding the possible winter dance and prom
I'm really hoping I'll be able to take this girl to prom but idk
We haven't been able to talk as much so the sort of like, closeness it felt like was there has kind of diminished
But I've been pretty busy and done stuff with friends, so I've been happy
I'm trying to be a teen for once this year ykbowy
> for once
Tf you been doing otherwise?
05:52
Staying home coding :p
@lyxal Ohh so that's what you were up to :p
I was wondering why you were so adamantly against the cat ear pics
Now that you have pics of me from two angles you're that much closer to 3d modeling me and designing an open source rydwolf robot that looks like me and, using custom fine-tuned LLM models, talks like me
@RydwolfPrograms and it would have worked too if you'd just listened to ginger! :p
@lyxal Most pics of me have goofy facial expressions :p
I smile very easily
And the rest of the time I look one annoyance away from jumping off a bridge because my resting face looks awful xD
That second one is brilliant for meme templates and ai edits
I'm surprised none of y'all have found my insta yet lol
At least one more image to work with there :p
06:16
...til kattis tracks the top 10 shortest solutions per language
i think i know what i'm going to do instead of doing legitimate icpc practice for the next 10 minutes :P
lmao the first problem i think to try golfing, the #2 spot is already adam
weirdly enough there's a ruby solution 1 byte shorter than his apl
which is surprising even assuming the apl gets hit like a truck by utf8
okay, first attempt at 108
leaderboard 104 and lowest in python is 90 so there's some way to go lmao
...whatever i'm still on the python leaderboard at least
oh wait i'm stupid

5 hours later…
11:35
... my monitor is very very old lol

1 hour later…
13:01
what is 6/2(1+2)
the result of ambiguous mathematical notation used to stir online debate when explicit multiplication is used in practice
13:16
@lyxal why'd you have to do DLosc like that?
@RydwolfPrograms I've been trying to, but it's surprisingly difficult :p
@Ginger it just be like that sometimes

2 hours later…
14:59
me trying to understand the assembly that gcc made:
15:27
I'm gonna have to think about that one
lol
i just did my own take on strcpy_s, compiled it to assembly and am now trying to understand the assembly code generated by gcc
15:59
people actually liked my codegolf challenge
somehow it didn't suck
and it wasn't flagged as a duplicate within .00000001 seconds

2 hours later…
18:25
Ah, the pain of finding a hilarious meme online or making what you think is a hilarious joke but being unable to share it
> [INFO] success! compiled in 831s
hmmmmmmm
Are you using Scala Native with all optimizations or something?
The Scala compiler's slow, but nowhere near that slow, especially not for a project as small as yours
no, that's output from LYCSAL
I screwed up the timing math :p
Oh my bad
sbt also has [INFO] and tells you how long it took so I confused it with that
speaking of, it's almost ready to publish!
18:28
Nice
if I could just get it to stop segfauting, that is

1 hour later…
19:49
go to uiua.org
the array language where transpose is transgender
