12:00 AM
Thanks visio

1 hour later…
1:19 AM
It's state democracy day today. I'm going to be able to write some numbers on a piece of paper and engage with democracy. Good time for all.

cool

Well it's actually kinda mandatory too
If you don't, you're committing a crime

6 hours later…
7:52 AM
Everyone is always focused on swing districts in an election
Like "ooh this swing district is important for the results"
They never focus on the jazz districts, the pop districts, the heavy metal districts, the rock and roll districts and every other genre of music
It's always about swing
Smh

come to think of it i'm not sure i've ever actually heard non-electro swing

1 hour later…
9:10 AM
Man I love election nights. Switching between sources to figure out who has the most accurate district counts, reading the live updates on declared districts, looking on the YouTube homepage for any L/W speeches
It's unironically good fun
I don't care for the politics of the election, I care for the analytics lol

9:25 AM
Aww, they've called the election for a side :(
Now how will I feel like I'm an analyst who knows what he's talking about when really I'm just reading what other experts have said

9:40 AM
They must have new counting systems
Because state elections never take such a short time
Obviously this is all predictions, but generally speaking the predictions are right after a while
Even the federal election last year didn't take as long as expected to call

5 hours later…
2:14 PM
hey @RydwolfPrograms have you heard of ComputerCraft

1 hour later…
3:31 PM
i have
and it uses cursed lua

it's great

i just read the overview on CF, havent actually played it

might be my favorite mod

i might just plan to clone it for the latest version
and it will have native rol support

4:05 PM
:D

4:17 PM
opencomputers is 1.12, so i wont have any competition if i make it 1.16~1.18 etc
o opencomputers literally runs linux on its computers

Well this is how you know a book is rare

@Ginger stop giving me ideas, im learning forge programming now

> My friends are so mad that they do not know how I have all the high quality ebook which they do not!
Either this site is gonna have exactly the pdf I need or I'm about to download every virus in existence

4:48 PM
Okay it's the latter
Well I kindaaa need a copy of the test administration manual to do my AP Research project, and if the closest one is in Oklahoma that's a bit of an issue
I could buy a test booklet without the normalization data or anything for $76 from Pearson
Ugh
Bleh
If I do this I'm uploading it to the internet
I guess $280 to free the world from Pearson's tyranny is a fair price
I'd bet that's why there's no PDFs
fffffffffuck you need to upload like, credentials, in order to buy it

5:04 PM
pearson is tyrrany

> You can obtain a B level if you have a master's degree in psychology, education, speech language pathology, occupational therapy, social work, counseling, or in a field closely related to the intended use of the assessment, and formal training in the ethical administration, scoring, and interpretation of clinical assessments

OR

Certification by or full active membership in a professional organization (such as ASHA, AOTA, AERA, ACA, AMA, CEC, AEA, AAA, EAA, NAEYC, NBCC, CVRP) that requires training and experience in the relevant area of assessment
I mean I guess I understand why they don't want to sell IQ testing materials to random people but like, come on
I don't know how this stuff isn't publicly available
RPM dates back to 1936
I hate how gatekeepy scientific information can be
Aside from Elsevier, who are utterly incapable of keeping free PDFs of their studies off the clearweb, which is awesome
ScienceDirect PDFs sitting on random .edu sites on the third page of search results have hardcore carried my AP Research project

5:24 PM
@Seggan hahahaaaaaa
@Seggan opencomputers is great but 1.12 only ;-;
@Seggan wait wdym? CC Tweaked runs great on 1.18

5:56 PM
@Ginger No

Your school should be able to give you access to some journals
Or you could ask your teacher

It's not in any journals

One would print out articles for us that we couldn’t access
Ah ok

It's a book
A pretty rare book apparently

Steal it

6:01 PM
From Oklahoma?

6:58 PM
Yeah, it's OK
Protip: After stealing a rare book, make sure to burn all other copies so that your own copy will increase in value

7:13 PM
@user ba-dum-ts
(also I like the implication that my problem with stealing a book from Oklahoma is the ethics, not the fact I'd have to drive like 8 hours :p)

I mean, even driving that far isn't too big a problem, breaking into some place at night, finding the book, and getting out undetected would be the problem
But yes, a good researcher must always pay attention to the ethics of how they conduct their research

It's a public school library
Trivial

Oh

Also they have on their website where to find the book, as most libraries do :p
They're not in the business of hiding books from you

I thought it was held by some institute that only lent it out for special reasons
Make a friend in Oklahoma, get them to "borrow" it and send it to you
Tell them you'll return the book to them but instead, cut off all contact as soon as you receive the book

7:19 PM

cat

He is prepared to keyboard

Given that picture, I expected your next message to be something along the lines of h;kkl'p[

He actually really hates walking on this keyboard
Yesterday he accidentally stepped on one of the arrow keys, it clicked, and he like, quickly stood up like a kangaroo and jumped away

Huh, I thought cats loved walking on keyboards

7:21 PM
Apparently not mechanical ones with very clicky and somewhat sharp keys
Also shoutout to that awful compressed air can in the background
It came with another one, but they're so cheaply designed the second one's nozzle thing snapped off when I tried to twist off the thing that keeps you from using it in the store
And "hundreds of everyday uses" lol
1. Cleaning your keyboard
2. Scaring your cat
3. Causing brain damage
4. ???
Also why did my monitor's ambient lighting show up as purple lol

You can trivially make something have hundreds of everyday uses by treating using on each laptop as a different use
1. Using it on <some brand>'s keyboards from 2023 with a NumPad
2. Using it on <some other brand>'s keyboards from 2022 with NumPads, in some layout
...

Pet peeve: Unnecessarily bright monitors
Like on a laptop screen, I kinda get it
You might be using it in direct sun
But a monitor? A gaming monitor? Why do I need triple the brightness of the normal panel
Especially when there's ambient lighting...it's clearly intended to be used in a dark room
And yet the dimmest backlight setting on this thing is painful to look at
Having media keys on your keyboard is surprisingly nice
Like I'd always considered them kinda useless but now that I've started listening to music, they're great

Why did you think they were useless? They're useful even if you don't listen to music
Mute key is very useful

Mute isn't a media key is it?
I'm talking about play/back/forward
I mean I guess volume controls could count

7:49 PM
Oh, that makes sense

Don't actually think I've ever had a keyboard without volume controls
Since I mainly use laptops
And this Corsair one has a cool scroll wheel thing for volume (plus a mute button)
