What was the main point of the question? It seemed that the question was how to manipulate a given line in a file. Useless and senseless commenting on the arguments (various files that could be passed) is beyond me.
I mean whether an integer in the argument is 4 or 5, the point of the answer was something else. The question started off on a rather vague note as far as selecting files was concerned.
What the request to expand the answer? Yes - its OK - the OP is requesting more information trying to understand your answer. It looks like you've answered stuff now - so the comments can be cleaned up. Agreed?
@Oli has dealt with the OP in the general room - I've taken you aside here. Can I suggest rather than having "conversation" in comments in the future - just pop into the general room to discuss. Its easier and stuff can be sorted quickly.
I'm unable to find the question right now. But I recall having commented to the same OP a couple of days back when he was making rather noisy comments on some other answer.
At that time, he apologized and remove the comments from the other post.
