Q: While serving notice period, an offer was given and revoked. What now?

GabrielleI work in an IT firm in India. I have been serving notice since January 25 to my current organization. Two days ago, they gave me a generous offer and I revoked my notice period based on that. Please note this is the last week of my notice period. They wanted me to be available for midnight deplo...

I am so confused. You received an offer for a new job within the same organization? So you decided to not serve your entire notice period? And you're surprised that your company is being spiteful now?
@MonkeyZeus I interpret this as the OP resigned on 25 Jan serving two months' notice to 25 Apr, got a counter offer on 20 Apr, accepted that but has now declined the counter offer.
@PhilipKendall That makes more sense but it sounds like the current organization's counter-offer was revoked (no declined) due to declining midnight deployments. Actually, now that I read it again I am not even certain that OP was leaving for a new company and if they were then it's ambiguous as to whether or not they declined the new company in favor of the counter-offer.
Is it customary at your company/location to serve a notice period for what is essentially an internal transfer?
@MonkeyZeus my notice period will be over on Apri 25.
@sf02 it is not an internal transfer, I am leaving for a new firm.
@PhilipKendall the offer was revoked after a telephonic discussion.

What is your actual question here? You leave for the new company on April 25th, so what is the problem?
So the company has withdrawn its new offer: does that reinstate your notice? If not (because you have revoked it) then presumably you will not get your relieving letter on 25 April? [I'm aware that employment practice in India differs from the rest of the world and relieving letters are part of that, but I'm not cognisant of the details.]
“I am worried about what will happen next?” - It sounds like you started your new job on April 26th. You served your notice period and your employer pulled their offer since you didn’t find the terms acceptable. Seems like you should be asking HR these questions. You probably should have answers before Monday
@AndrewLeach when I had revoked my resignation, I had stated that I am revoking because I have got a new offer. The company hasn't confirmed if they have reinstated my notice period.
@Donald yes. I don't want to continue. But the HR didn't confirm that my last working day is April 25. I had clearly stated that I withdraw my resignation because I have an offer. When I don't have the offer does my resignation still stands?
@Donald I have already emailed the HR but didn't get reply yet
You indicated you are leaving for another organization. Why do you now want to pull your resignation, at your current company, which employer was offering you terms you found unacceptable. You should clarify your question instead of submitting a comment that will be missed by other users.
@Gabrielle - Use a phone to contact them or go to their desk. A lot harder to ignore a phone call
So your main concern is that you might have to serve a new 90-day notice period starting today? That seems incredibly unreasonable but I do not live in India. Is it illegal to just stop working on April 25th as originally planned and then start working for the new company?

Now that the company revoked the new offer, do you plan to leave your company by April 25 ? Do you have a new job to go to ? If yes, then forget everything about this current company and move on to the new company. Enjoy your new job and new life. Nobody wants to work the midnight shift if possible.
@JoeStrazzere My last day isn't a problem, Since they have revoked the offer, are they in a position to create problems for me?
@Job_September_2020 I do have a new job to go to. But would most probably need a relieving letter.
You resigned; employer offered a new contract; you withdrew your resignation; new contract was unsatisfactory; you rejected new contract and canceled your withdrawal. Which of these communications were in writing and which were verbal?
are they in a position to create problems for me? Of course they are in a position to create problems for you. It's India. They are "employer". You are "fertilizer". They always create problems for you.

Hey @A.I.Breveleri they revoked the new contract, I didn't cancel anything. I called them and said I don't want to be available at night, after working the whole day. The reason why they revoked is not in writing but I know the reason. All of the communications are in writing, in an email.
