Where my brain went, but I was disappointed it wasn't SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! in the gif

12:29 PM
I'm trying to figure out how to write a query, that shows if self-answers (where the question and post are at the same time) put off other answerers
but I'm not sure how to formulate such a query

1:12 PM
this is what I've got so far:
-- Posts with self-answers that have fewer than average other answers

select top 10 count(q.Id) as count
from Posts q
join Users u on q.OwnerUserId = u.Id
join Posts sa on q.Id = sa.ParentId and q.OwnerUserId = sa.OwnerUserId
join Posts a on q.Id = a.ParentId and q.OwnerUserId != a.OwnerUserId
inner join (select DATEDIFF(
        HOUR,
        MIN(sa.CreationDate)
         ,
        MIN(a.CreationDate)
        ) as diffdate, sa.ParentId from  ???) D on D.ParentId = q.Id
group by D.diffdate
order by D.diffdate

@AncientSwordRage how about this: data.stackexchange.com/scifi/query/1627458

@rene that is very cool!
I'm guessing the datediff thing is too tricky?

what do you want the datediff for?

@rene To see the I'm trying to answer "does self-answering delay others from answering the same question?'
Say normally it takes an hour to get an answer, if you self-answered is it more or less time until the second non-self-answer answer?

Okay. Yes, that is a bit tricky. Give me 6 to 8 minutes

... minutes ? 🤯

7:57 PM
@AncientSwordRage you rather have weeks?
not sure this is useful
You rather have the MINimum? instead of avg?

@rene minimum would be good? I think.
Also, is it fairer to only include non-self-answered posts with 1+ answers?

probably a merge?
also added the condition to only include self-answerd-q's that have > 1 answer

@rene 🤷🏻‍♂️
Ohhh of questions

this is it then.

8:12 PM
@rene can you filter them out somehow?
I tried but failed

I already did ?

Ooh I missed the link

yeah, when I'm logged in the url stays stable.

Aahhhh
That's a new one on me
Is it just that some non-self-answered questions got answered in < minute?
I think this is fairer. Both types need at least two answers: data.stackexchange.com/scifi/query/1627483

8:35 PM
yeah, you ca adjust a bit to stats that rule out outliers a bit.
Maybe @martin has ideas about that. I'm not a statistics literate. I fiddle with queries and that is all I can contribute.

Thanks so much for making this possible

You're welcome, np.

Hmmm I think it breaks on ask Ubuntu.... I'll fix that

Yeah, don't run it on SO. It is not tuned for performance

Yeah I learnt than on an earlier version

8:39 PM
I'm off to hibernation, I need to get up early tomorrow.

Roger that, here's my latest in case someone is curious
