Qwordle seems way too hard for me to comprehend.
ok i have 370 so far
for semantle
all the things related to that word i can think of are not even close to top 1000
@Prithubiswasleftmse you understand the rules of qwordle right?
I solved Semantle #92 in 46 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.86. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #8. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 35.10 (949/1000). semantle.novalis.org
@AidenChow nope. Quantum stuff is too weird.
yeah u might want to understand the rules first before jumping in and attempting one lol
someone explained the rules of qwordle to me in this chat
lemme find it in the transcript real quick
Mar 18 at 15:07, by user21820
@leslietownes Clues are the yellows/greens. Since the two words do not share letters, each clue is for exactly one of the words. In each guess, the clues are solid iff all of them come from the same word. That's all the rules (on top of the usual meaning of a wordle clue).
@Prithubiswasleftmse
thats all there is to it
ok well that was an interesting semantle
i started guessing random words
becuz my first top 1000 wasnt giving me anything
and then i got 526, tried the synonyms of that, got 709, tried synonyms of that -> 949, then i got the answer from that
Ohh so thats why my guesses weren't working, because the green half clues were coming from different words.
att

I solved Semantle #92 in 146 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.99. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #8. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 18.16. semantle.novalis.org
huh
i was getting nowhere
03:25
I feel kind of sad now that I have thrown my wonderful 4 half green opportunity down in the drain =(
att
att
randomly guessed it with only 12 in top 1000
@att i have 5 in top 1000 lol
all pretty much synonyms of each other
att
att
I had no clue what was going on
with those words
nothing worked
what kind of top 1000s u had
att
att
972 911 834 385 370
03:29
i had 370, 526, 709, 729, 949 :P
and i got those in that order too
att
att
i got 972 first
nice and useless
@att ok yeah thats completely useless
now that im looking at it, im not even completely sure how i got the answer so quickly from 370
ig i got hella lucky
oh wait 370 is pretty related tho ig
but somehow i went 370 -> 526 haha

man im so bad at this
just my bad luck that i managed to guess spoiler instead of spoiler when trying random words
and also spoiler instead of spoiler -_-
03:59
i don't feel bad when it generally does come down to luck, i.e., there is nothing in the revealed information that you could have used to do better, and just happened to pick the wrong possibilities from a small set first.
that's as good as winning, in my opinion.
04:15
i'm getting some pretty confusing results on today's semantle
@AidenChow this is me except with 860 and 939 lmao
oh
I solved Semantle #92 in 53 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 10.65. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 29.21 (827/1000). semantle.novalis.org
yeah that makes sense
which also means i was TOTALLY misinterpreting 911 lmao
this is confusing AF
04:44
@leslietownes the semantle?
what top 1000s u have so far
@UnrelatedString lol ye those seem like they wouldnt be too useful in finding the actual word
827, 727, 363, 122
they were actually super useful lol
so i'm gonna be here a while
04:46
got the full answer off 456
@UnrelatedString lel nice
i got it off 949
or specifically 939 got me thinking of a phrase including 456 and the answer and i tried 456 first
@leslietownes 827 could be useful i suppose, if u look at it in a certain way
@AidenChow nice
i never got into spoiler in the first place lmao
@leslietownes 727 seems helpful too
04:48
if you say so
363 and 122, maybe not so much
33 now, too
i'm just looking at a ton of confusingly unrelated words
this is good practice for understanding my daughter. when she can't get a game or experience right away she melts down. just loses her shit.
i feel lucky not to have really hit any splits so much as i just got a lot of very mixed results from related words
04:49
i try to teach her patience, but, i'd also be frustrated if lots of stuff i picked up seemed designed to trick me
i feel hella lucky that i took a pretty direct path to the answer
just gonna do some nerd raging at semantle
991 now
this is gonna be one where the target is some abstract thing and it's all just a game to drive me nuts, isn't it
I solved Semantle #92 in 153 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -0.34. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #8. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 44.23 (994/1000). semantle.novalis.org
way too many antonyms correlated with that
ah
makes sense
i can see how antonym correlation would be stronger than usual
05:04
991, for heaven's sake
hahaha
in retrospect a lot of it made sense
wow
also, what the fuck is 999
hahahaha whaaaat
looks like it's only attested as a dialectal variation of a completely different word that we happened to have like a week ago
so it's probably an artifact of how the data was collected
maybe the corpus is OCR text, and that's hyphenation somehow being picked up
yeah
since yeah exactly
05:06
if so, weird that we haven't seen that before with other words
or at least, i haven't
and i feel like outside of line stuff there's also an archaic sort of convention of writing spoiler
not entirely sure where i'm thinking of that from
but it does seem more likely to get chopped up like that than some other words
i'm reminded of the standup bit about the guy who invented oclock

2 hours later…
haha, WHAT is their corpus. stuff from the 1890s?
gwine? really?
my thoughts exactly
i can't say i'm surprised that the top 1000 for this are the finest collection of niche dialectal terms and occasional typos but i am surprised at most of that being on the dictionary for being eligible for ranking
yeah this is a really weird peek into the subconscious of semantle
yeah
i don't know how old this corpus has to be for "mony" to be more frequent than "dongle"
> oes
lots of detours into other languages, too.
whatever this is, it's interesting.
07:09
yeah
surprisingly large amount of french
some latin, some yiddish. maybe this is what terminator 2 saw flash before his eyes as he melted in the steel mill.
just a dump of everything.

@Prithubiswasleftmse The first time I played it I also didn't know what the rules meant.
Anyway, you can try again the next day! =)
15:14
@leslietownes No, typically it's impossible to be confident of the answer if the first two guesses have too few clues. So my third guess was still POUCH in order to ensure that it is really in the bag after that. =)
