Q: The Real Essential Questions of Every Beta

asheeshrThe blog post Seven Essential Meta Questions of Every Beta gets linked to prominently from every beta's meta. However, this blog post is somewhat inaccurate and misdirects new users. In almost every beta, the site design question, for example, gets asked and undergoes a fair bit of discussion eve...

Congrats Andrej Bauer! Your proposal made it into private beta now let's see if it will get out! :)
Congratulations everyone!
@GuyCoder We have a new chatroom.
You will be happy to know I am screen recording the site. (Memories that will last forever.)

I am so happy! :)

@HenryWHHackv3.0b I am screen recording the site Thanks I was just judiciously taking screen shots.
StackExchange sites are not friendly to the WayBackMachine
I am filming two sites at the same time. (So I am switching between them.)
@GuyCoder It is but since we are in private beta it is close off to outside sources.
@Slate Is this your first private beta?
Well, I've participated in a few over the years. It's the first time I'm checking in on one as staff, though.
I won't be here the whole time, mostly covering to making sure things go as smoothly as can be expected on the first day ;)

@Slate That was Robert Cartaino's job.
Interesting! I seem to remember that.

@Slate I think you should handle this meta question:

Q: Administrators and Permissions

taylor.2317 Are there administrators? If so, who are they? If not, how will they be elected? Will the permissions and roles be updated?

HWHH out!
@HenryWHHackv3.0b Try a regular Q&A page (one not in a private beta). Did it work as expected?
Let me try.
Too late it already has an answer.
@GuyCoder Works for me:
A recent archive of IoT.SE. (I manually used the save link.)

Hah! Thanks for the ping.
@HenryWHHackv3.0b I was meaning to try and save a page with an actual question and answer.
Proof Assistants.SE now open in Beta.

Thanks. I tried it again and realized that a prompt it was giving me to save the error pages was new. When I saw it a few weeks ago thought it was notifying me of an error and so abandoned the save.
Here is where it worked.

@user4539917 Not yet. We are in private beta. (AKA close beta.)
19:56
@HenryWHHackv3.0b (AKA close beta.) I remember seeing a meta post from many years ago noting that they changed the private closed beta to public closed beta meaning you received an invite if you committed but if you used the URL without committing you could still use the site but just didn't get the beta badge. Not that I need answer to this but I am sure it will come up if it is not truly closed.

Hello

Hello!
For transparency's sake, I've gone through the Suggested Edits queue and approved a few tag wikis. They could still use some love imo, though they are almost certainly second to things like main Q&A and meta.

@Slate approved a few tag wikis In my view tags are what will eventually define the site. Earning Research Assistant is not easy
Oh, yes, they are very important
Just takes maybe 100-200 questions for a good complement of tags to really take shape, in my experience
