Hi
Hey, girl!
how are you, @OtavioMacedo? I've had some tutu de feijão today at lunch and I remembered you lol
:-)
Was it good?
@OtavioMacedo not the best I've ever had, but fairly good
I shouldn't eat much of tutu, anyway, as I'm trying to lose some body fat
is @Cerberus alive?
it is funny... almost all the reputation I've gained in englishSE was for a single answer I gave for "what is an expression for...". And people keep voting me on that
by now I've gained 240 rep on that answer alone
Yes, it seems that votes have a way to form clusters hehe
Hey, I remembered you, too, btw.
I was watching House MD the other day.
And it was an episode where the patient freaked out for no apparent reason.
And the medical team called that a "temporary psychosis".
Does that make sense?
22:22
hmmm
Or is just Hollywoodian bulls**t?
do you remember which season was that? I've watched almost all episodes and I don't remember that
is it the one in which the guy begins to see aliens and stuff?
First season.
No. I think it was the fat girl that had a brain tumor.
well, in general, psychosis is considered some kind of temporary illness... even schizophrenics are not 'crazy' all the time, if the situation that triggered the outbreak is resolved,
Hello?
I was called?
22:25
but for psychoanalysis it is a 'structure', something that gives you a form, so it is not that sometimes you are psycho and sometimes not, but you may or may not have an outbreak
Yes, it was that episode:
"Heavy" is the sixteenth episode of the first season of House, which premiered on the Fox network on March 29, 2005. A 10-year-old obese girl is admitted after suffering a heart attack during gym class at school. House and the team attempt to solve the case while Vogler continues to pressure House to fire a member of his staff. Plot While exercising at school, a 10-year-old morbidly obese girl named Jessica (Jennifer Stone) complains of chest pains and then has a cardiac attack. As House announces to his team that Vogler is forcing him to fire one of his staff members, tension rises b...
it seems that even neurotics could have psychotic outbreaks, but that would be just a temporary situation.. it is like the psychotic structure is more "basic", and a neurotic could get back to it in an extreme situation
And how does the brain fit in with all this?
psychoanalysis considers that every person is one of the 3 structures... it is not like "some people are normal and some people are sick". Freud proposes that the extreme pathological cases are better to see the 'structure' that is behind everybody's personalities
well... House is a doctor.. it is supposed that a psychotic outbreak may be related to biological issues, could be a tumor, could be problems with drugs, for example
Yes, but in general, does psychoanalysis take the brain into account?
22:37
from a biological perspective, neurophisiology would be the "cause" of the problem, in most cases (if not all, for some people), the thing is, an alteration of mood is accompained by neurophisiological changes, but the cause may be elsewhere (social issues, for example)
there's a current trend in merging psychoanalysis and neurobiology, but most psychoanalysts don't like it,
Freud made a lot of reference to neurons and biological examples, but he was very speculative.. it turned out that he realized he didn't need this,
what triggered psychoanalysis was "hysteria", a problem to which doctors could not find a biological cause
and the only cure to it was "talking"
the "talking cure"
@Cerberus so I didn't manage to wake up early today. I was ashamed by this... to compensate it I did some cleaning and organizing things around the appartment. It is not very good yet, but feels much better,
@Cerberus I shall insist on trying to get up earlier. I'll keep trying. Maybe I should try a gradual change, as I've been in this situation for long
@OtavioMacedo sometimes even Lacan uses some "biology talk", but as I see it, this has more to do with our imaginary than with epistemological issues. What I mean is, we've been raised in an society which gives biological explanations to many things, so it is nice to know about it to understand how this speech shapes our thoughts
@Tames Oh well, that's something!
You set the alarm, but you turned it off again?
And no gym?
@Cerberus yes :|
@Cerberus I went to the gym, but in the afternoon
Ah OK.
Next time, put the alarm clock away from your bed.
On a table somewhere.
hahaha
I'll do that
@Cerberus I was thinking.. that maybe I could earn some money with photography. I'm not sure how to do that, but I think it is possible, I'd only have to be a little more professional. It is something that I like doing, and I think I'm good at it.. It would be great to have some income on my own
I'd feel better if I had that
what do you think?
22:51
Good idea.
No idea how the photography business works.
I think it works mostly with freelance, but I'd have to do more research on the topic,
I have no idea about prices and all
the only artwork I've ever sold was a photograph,
but it didn't matter the "rights" of the picture, the person only wanted a poster
I'd need a good camera. Maybe I can work on that with no hurry, and in a year or so I may be producing something marketable
To what kind of people or companies would you want to sell your work?
23:08
I'm not sure.. could be magazines, newspapers, websites... maybe some more artistic stuff like companies that make calendars, postcards.. things more related to decoration.. if I make some good pictures of the city, famous landscapes, it could probably be used in different situations
I need to do some research about it. I've had some experience with a marketing company, I worked there for a while... I did some photographs, but I worked mostly with design (corel and photoshop)
@Tames if you want make money, you should go for weddings.
@OtavioMacedo hmmm... It scares me a bit, I think I'd need much more technical formation for this, but I guess you are right. Maybe I could work with someone on this
@OtavioMacedo it would be too much for a single person, it requires team work
I could be working with graphic design as well.. I think I'm good at it, but I'd have to manage well the freelancing thing.
23:30
I'm trying to find an SE on this topic..
23:50
well, good luck to me..
@Cerberus did you see my answer on your question on Foucault? does that make sense to you?
