Just wondering if someone else can comment on Sam's answer on softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/2339/…
I don't want to comment that it is slightly low quality since I cross posted with the same suggestion
I did edit his answer to fix the link but I feel it could come across bad for me to comment about ways to improve it

I am quiet sick of the Looking for First Person, Physics based, Puzzle games question.

@NickWilde: commenting on how to improve it is generally gine

@JourneymanGeek yeah for some people I'd have no qualms but I know some people can be touchy
and I have no prior with him so figured might as well just use this page and get someone else to who wouldn't possibly com across as biased
I am totally capable of acting unbiasedly in a conflict of interest situation but seemed better

@DanteTheEgregore I think this question was closed because it did not specify a problem. While I disagree the consensus seems to be that "killing boredom" is not a problem. Also the gaming question can't have a "definite" answer because the experience in gaming is far more subjective than in other applications. Neither matches to the photoshop question which is in my eyes insufficient because it lacks a purpose altogether.
The OP did not state what problems he wants to solve neither what is lacking in photoshop.
I was really surprised to find this question without any close votes.

Q: Other Games like VIM Adventures or kits/opensource tools

jth41I really liked learning how to use VIM trough a game like VIM Adventures. Are there any other games like this for developing other skills? Also is there any tool opensource or otherwise for creating your own?

It is obviously far too broad.

Q: Alternative Java libraries to Apache's FTP server and client?

fgeI am having fun (sort of) developing a Java 7 FileSystem implementation for use with FTP servers; for this I need an FTP client library (for the runtime aspect) and an FTP server library (for tests). My requirements are, in order, resilience and features. Right now I have the following: common...

I'm uncertain about. First glance is: off topic - too broad; off topic - looking for "the best". But otoh - defined problem. I would downvote it for its vaguness. How do you feel about it?

"too broad" is not an off-topic reason. "looking for the best" (primarily-opinion-based) isn't either. :P

@FEichinger Too broad is a closure reason. (Yes, not off topic)
Looking for the best is a strong indicator for a weak question (it already gets better atm)

The distinction is important. Off-topic questions generally cannot be salvaged. They, from the very start, do not belong on the site because they're not about the site's subject. Most other close reasons are about post quality. These questions can and should be salvaged.

@FEichinger some of them needs to be dilapidated to be salvaged ;)
you mean salvaged by someone else but OP?

@FEichinger correct. My fault.

@Braiam Both, really. Some can only be fixed by the asker because more information is needed, some can be fixed by other people simply because it's a matter of wording (Looking for "the best" is bad, but that can just be edited out rather easily in most cases - the question could, of course, still have other problems, such as a lack of well-defined criteria.)

Q: The MOOC tag, should it stay or should it go?

Angelo NeuschitzerToday I've seen this tag: mooc Which seems very narrow scoped. I think it should go.
