Hey @MinatoNamikaze
So, it should work now, huh?
Hello
It should..
Well, we've tried this several times before and it doesn't seem to have worked then, but it sure is worth one more try :)
wait... does stack2rss update regularly?
Hey! I know the guy who made this :D
Great fellow :P
Stack2rss update regularly quite AFAIK, yes.
12:05
It is pulling straight from the api when reqested
afaik
gief room owner a second
I do see some differences between the stack2rss feed and the Stack Exchange feed, I suppose those differences is why it hasn't worked.
StackExchange uses <entry> tag while stack2rss uses <item> for example
well, let's see if XKCD works then...
12:10
you're not gonna see any changes until like next monday
see
12:12
Seems to be next monday already...
@StackExchange I am very mad with you right now...
It may have something to do with Stack2RSS dynamically generating the feed
one second
Sounds like it should be possible to create a tool to fix that somehow...

No content.

cool
I'm trying to find the SE feed generator page but the feeds that use it all seem to have vanished
with the SE feeds I can make it link a question every time it becomes active again
so that would be every time an answer is posted on it, or it's edited, etc
12:37
@MinatoNamikaze What...? How...?
The Stack2RSS feeds already bumps questions when they get edited, or "@Jamal ized" as we call it here...
12:57
Don't mind me ... I'm just a little excited ;-)
Pretty sure that doesn't bump on activity, though.
So am I, @rolfl... I'm just not sure how to set it up properly... but it does seem to be possible, somehow...
The error is with the stack2rss feed sending the wrong type, as far as I can tell.
Should be application/xml+rss, not text/plain
so what @MinatoNamikaze did to set it all up properly was to simply relay it to another source, which then could send the proper headers?
13:12
I assume so, yes.
Well, what @MinatoNamikaze did was make a static version that has xml as filetype, so it inherently sends the correct header.
Sounds like I gotta try doing some coding this weekend... unless Minato reveals the secrets
But the result is the same.
Ah, that could work. Grabbing the Stack2RSS data every once in a while and simply saving it as an XML
chat.SE -> your relay -> stack2rss
@FEichinger the order of the posts in stackexchange.com/feeds/tagsets/112702/test?sort=active suggests otherwise
13:15
(But stack2rss still uses API v1, so you might just want to ping Nathan about it all and have him fix both issues.)
@FEichinger How do I find Nathan? :)
@SimonAndréForsberg He's usually around in AUGR every now and then.
I'M GOING NOW GOODBYE
@kalina "sick"?
Or just leaving the room?
@FEichinger OK, thanks
13:36
@SimonAndréForsberg no secrets :P
It's the same thing
If you have a server at hand just have a python script/shell script download the feed periodically and have it make a .xml file in the web accessible directory
Link that file to the feed and you're done
Else, this can be rectified on server side.

5 hours later…
18:50
@SimonAndréForsberg Nathan has found me:
Stack2RSS author here - what do you mean by "chat feeds don't work with stack2rss feeds"? — uɐɯsO uɐɥʇɐN 12 mins ago
Hey Nathan!
Man, if only there was an RSS feed that supplied answers in to CR Answers ... ;-)
18:57
Thanks, but as a chat mod, I pretty much can edit anything anyway :)
oh.. lol
So the problem is that it won't post new items here?
right. I was updating manually with stack2rss.stackexchange.com/codereview.stackexchange/… being fed into some RSS reader
That's strange since I can view the feed without any problems here.
18:59
Does it work to post the items in a box instead?
Tries it out.
so wait a minute, stack2rss feeds are supposed to be working with stack chat?
Absolutely.
It's just like any other RSS feed.
If it's not working, I'd actually wonder if there was a bug with chat, not Stack2RSS.
interesting
@rolfl post an answer ;)
I'll leave this window open to see if items appear in the ticker.
Okay, so this answer has been added to the feed. We'll see what happens.
It should show up shortly...
crosses fingers
what's the normal delay?
19:03
I've seen it as high as twenty minutes.
But usually it's less than that.
does the ticker go away if I miss it or it has to be actively dismissed?
It must be dismissed.
ok good (I happen to be working right now)
seen this?
6 hours ago, by FEichinger
(But stack2rss still uses API v1, so you might just want to ping Nathan about it all and have him fix both issues.)
19:09
I'm aware of that and it is on my list. Rest assured.
It's not working... >:(

I better just file a bug on Meta.SO.
it's the chat room that's blocking it?
19:24
Apparently.
Either blocking or broken.
6-8 weeks then...

Q: RSS feed is not working in any chat rooms.

uɐɯsO uɐɥʇɐNConsider the following RSS feed: http://stack2rss.stackexchange.com/codereview.stackexchange/answers When added, to this room's list of RSS feeds, no feeds ever show up. (Despite the fact that new items are continually being added to the feed.) This appears to be a network-wide problem sinc...

+1 and favorited! :)
well thanks for your time and interest! BTW feel free to come say hi in The 2nd Monitor anytime!
