Q: Lord Shiva is shown as inferior or contradicted by which scriptures of Vishnu sectarians (Vaishnavas)?

R. KaushikAs far as I know the main ones are: 1. Vaishnava Puranas - Vishnu beats up (or almost beats up) Shiva. Demean Shaiva Puranas as tamasic. 2. Ramayana & Bhagavad Gita - Vishnu beats up Shiva. Krishna says & shows that Lord Shiva is just his part (BG 11.5-11.16) 3. Vaishnava Upanishads like Rama Rah...

Every Lord is demeaned by the opposition sect, especially via selective nitpicking methodologies of verses pickup. Conflict of views has been a part and parcel always. It's not just Vaishanava literature that demean other divinities, but Shaiva, Shakta, Ganapatya literatures too make sure to expound their respective deities by portraying the other divinities as "less affable". All the so called "sacred scriptures" of any sect portrays their ishta supreme by ninda-stuti of the other deities, always. Nothing new.

Sectarian debates r not good for the site..this is not a debate site..this Q can be much more simpler "what are the Vaishnava sect's scriptures"..puranas classification is diff in many puranas and there r already 2-3 Q's..whenever any god is praised as Brahman then, other gods r mentioned as his portions...
@YDS Please don't misrepresent - This is not a debate topic. I am only asking which scriptures demean or contradict Lord Shiva... not the Vaishnava scriptures in general. You have only misunderstood I hope. This question can have nothing but answers with quotations & sources. Nothing to debate.
@Vivikta Very interesting.
Mahabharata praises Lord Shiva in many verses. Can you please re read mahabharata?
@ParabrahmanJyoti In Bhagavat Gita Krishna says Lord Shiva is just merely his part and Krishna is supreme over Shiva. Vaishnavas always quote this portion In Ramayana also Vishnu & Shiva fight and Vishnu wins!

Did you read above scriptures completely? Mahabharata praises Shiva in many places.. All pandavas names can be explained through Lord Shiva names. Krishna himself takes Arjuna to Kailasa and teaches about greatness of Sri Rudram. Krishna even worshipped Shiva for Son "Samba". You are just projecting your opinions here. Cherry Picking without context can make any text look sectarian.
Yes it also praises kings but still shows them as inferior to Vishnu/Krishna despite all of that. Another example ---- "When Krishna displayed his Universal form then Arjuna said: “My dear Lord Krishna, I see assembled in Your body, all the demigods and various other living entities. I see Brahma sitting on the lotus flower, as well as Lord Shiva” Bhagavad-gita (11.15). The context is clear that Shiva is a part of Vishnu/Krishna's body.
You are a moderator so you can do whatever you want to my question based on your personal (non-Vaishnava) interpretation so if you insist your opinion is right and Vaishnavas are wrong... I am removing Mahabharata portion of the question @TheDestroyer
@R.Kaushik Not just mahabharata, it depends on interpretations of sects how they interpret scriptures. But these type of questions would bring debates vaishnavas on site and others. if you are not sure of some verses in scriptures or if you feel some verses on Shiva as problematic, you can ask questions like how Non Vaishnavas interpret those verses. Please make sure your intention is just knowledge and not hurting any sect or God...
@R.Kaushik Please also go through this question. Please stay away from Shiva vs. Vishnu debate, Mods will warn or ban users who try to instigate any debates or post offensive questions targeting any sect or God.
@TheDestroyer Ok I have removed Mahabharata because you insisted I am wrong and because you are threatening ban. All other scriptures like Vedanta Sutras, Samhitas and Vaishnava Puranas etc. say that Shaiva scriptures are wrong/tamasic.
Kaushik the original verse translation of BG uses word shankara not Shiva
I am not talking about whether Vishnu or Shiva is superior so this is not about Shiva VS Vishnu. I am not saying Vaishnavas are wrong. I am only asking which scriptures. Please answer if you know. Just looking for A LIST!! @TheDestroyer
@ParabrahmanJyoti In 11.16 SHIVA is a part of Krishna's body and even in 11.5 Shankara could still be seen as demeaning because in 1008 names of Lord Shiva... Shankara is one of them.

Shaiva, Vaishnav, Shakta are tribal puranic sects of Kaliyuga based on smritis. In reality there are 33 Vedic gods who are manifestations of formless Brahman (the word Brahmin derived from it) mentioned in Vedas and whose personification is Brahma, the architect of universe. "They call him Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, and he is heavenly nobly-winged Garutman. To what is One, sages give many a title they call it Agni, Yama, Matarisvan."— Rigveda 1.164.46"
But a lot of Shaivas and Shaktas don't even care about Vedas.... let alone puranas, smritis and 33 Vedic gods like Indra!! @ManuKumar
Thats why Hindus of Kaliyuga, were defeated by Britishers and Mughals, thats why you are using english language of British invaders, because there's no unity in Hindus as Puranas were created in Kaliyuga and Vedas, the real wisdom were rejected by masses. All 33 gods are manifestation of single Atman including Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh.
No actually Vedas are only accepted by masses & maybe that is the reason. Since maybe Vedas don't have power like other Sruti. And what about Ramayana, Samhitas, Vedanta, B Gita etc. where Shiva is shown as inferior?? It's not just Puranas @ManuKumar Smritis are mostly responsible for Hindu losses (caste)
There is no mention of Vishnu, Durga or Shiva in Vedas. Rudra, a storm deity was whitewashed as Shiva, 10 Vishvadevas were combined to form Vishnu and Shakti sadhana is not even mentioned in Vedas. Ramayana is story of king Rama who was whitewashed as God by Tulsidas, Gita is just a conversation of King Yogi Krishna with Arjuna. Real God is formless Atman/Brahman as explained in Vedas/Upanishads, its not a person. Creating Brahma(Rajas), Maintaining Vishnu(Satva) and Destroying Mahesh(Tamas) worship one another as its gunas, an energy, its an infinite cyclic loop, none is superior or inferior.
Shiv-Shakti are older than the Vedas and plus this doesn't answer my question. Please do not go off topic!

Do you even know what Shiva-Shakti are? Have you even seen them in reality? They are not even man and woman in reality and look like you or any human, an evolved ape of Africa.
Yes and please stay on topic! This chat is not for casual discussion. @ManuKumar
So, tell everyone how do they look and what they are in reality? Why are you existing on earth in the first place? Why didn't Shiva protect Hindus from Mughals and Britishers? You can be true Shaiva-Shakta only after you know what Shiva-Shakti actually are.
No. And I already stated smritis & not following Shiv-Shakti ordinances is the reason for Mughals. Please answer and stop chatting.
Were Allah and Jesus stronger than Shiva-Shakti, Vishnu and therefore Hindus defeated by Britishers and Mughals? Strict Shaiva, Vaishnavism, Shaktism, Islam, Christianity are all cults of Kaliyuga, all these groups are existing today because all are true in their small region. In reality there is only one nameless Purusha(Cosmic Man) and creator of all. vivekavani.com/frog-story
Please stop - Both Mughals and British ruled with help of Indians and Vedic dharm has to be destroyed in Kali Yuga anyway so it was all pre-planned. It was written long ago that Mlecchas will rule Bharat. BTW MOST WESTERN COUNTRIES SEE CHRISTIANITY AS UNSCIENTIFIC NOW. It is also dying !!
