KinIF the server is NOT a PRODUCTION server, then you can backup the databases you need for Data manipulation and restore them with databaseName_test. Keep in mind that you will still be competing for resources on the server by creating another set of databases. Why cant you install another instan...

@goofyui I still dont understand what you want ? I have answered your question. Do you have anything that you want me to clarify ?
Hello Kin, Can i have copy of original database in the same sql instance( Production Server ). This is my original question. I am looking answer for that question.

Yes .. you can, as I mentioned restore it as a different name e.g. database_test or database_temp
@Kin in you answer

You solved my problem.

Normally, I avoid to create temp databases on prod .. as its not a good practice .
but it depends on what you will be doing ... as running workload or queries will/can impact PROD
I had an issue in the past around 2009. I was running a copy of the original database in the same instance. Although copy database had a different name. It was mistakenly mapped to original database .mdf / .ldf. So it was not a copy. Anyways, i will avoid such situations
I agree with you to avoid the Production Server. I think for time being, i will go with Production Server.
