CMP: Guess what this site looked like to you in the first 2 seconds
Because it looked more like a random comic to me than what it really is
21:17
@user It looked like a collection of zines; I knew there was going to be highly-dense informational knowledge inside.
Yes. Knowledge.
Yeah after reading some more of that book I'm actually concerned for the author
> You could have this huge mold that I strap people into. Then, I pour all the dough on them and actually bake them until the bread has risen and they’ve almost died.

> Once there was a caterpillar who had commas for legs. Which meant he had to allow a literary pause after each step. The other caterpillars really respected him for it and he came to have quite a commanding presence. Oh, and talk about a philanthropist! He was notorious for giving fresh leaves to those less-fortunate.
I like it when there are funny little asides and all that, but this is a whole 'nother level
I'm honestly getting turned off from learning Ruby because of all the non-Ruby content in there
o.O
Okay this is getting real dark now
> And my heart glows bright red under my filmy, translucent skin and they have to administer 10cc of JavaScript to get me to come back. (I respond well to toxins in the blood.) Man, that stuff will kick the peaches right out your gills!
I feel like I'm reading a tragicomedy about a guy who falls in love and nearly gets married, but something goes wrong and he loses all purpose in life, and when he's at his lowest, he discovers Ruby and it keeps him going for a few years, but then he finishes the book and sinks back into darkness

Why has it turned into The Very Hungry Caterpillar?
> And you, Smotchkkiss, will have nourished it with your knowledge. In the eons you will have spent with your machine, you will have become part-CPU. And it will have become part-flesh. Your arms will flow directly into its ports. Your eyes will accept the video directly from DVI-24 pin. Your lungs will sit just above the processor, cooling it.
Take possession of Nigeria with my new 55,000 starmonkeys… Over it, build Nigeria-sized vegetarians only casino and go-cart arena… Wings… we could have our own special sauce on the wings that’s different… Mustard + codeine = Smotchkkiss’ Starry Starmonkey Glow Sauce… Franchise, franchise… logos… Employee instructional videos… When you give the customer change, let them reach inside the frog on your hand to get it… If they have no change, at least put their reciept some place where they have to touch the frog… We’re leveling the playing field here… Advertise cheap pizza, let’s make our money
This is deeply deeply disturbing.
Look at the sidebar titled "Excerpt from The Scarf Eaters" here

Apparently the author disappeared from the internet in 2009 or something
22:18
Okay I don't know what I'm reading but this guy's a genius
Perfectly executed
@RedwolfPrograms I thought so, on chapter 2.
By chapter 4…
It actually gets more like a tutorial later
If you leave out the story about a guy committing suicide and stuff
> I worked on it whenever I found myself bored. And when I wasn’t bored, I could always switch on The Phantom Menace to get me in the mood.
This is like the only joke I understood lol
> I need you to be in a good mental state for the latter half of this book. Now is the time to begin conditioning you.
Mmm because the first part of the book really helped my mental state so much
@user I take that back, Chapter 5 is about some fictional (?) guy who tried to bury himself alive, electrocuted his niece, and dynamited a retirement home
I want to quote literally every second paragraph/image I see but I suspect I've spammed TNB too much already
Also I don't think it's a good idea for lurkers' mental state.
I probably shouldn't've participated.
Should I move the messages somewhere else?
Probably Trash, yeah
Or a new chatroom?
22:33
Just trash
:(
@user If you want to make a new room for it, I'm not stopping you, but I'll chuck them in trash for now.
