@pacmaninbw I've posted a suggestion in the bug report thread that hopefully helps identifying the issue with this. If you had to go under 1000, perhaps that warrants a new report.

@pacmaninbw Good answer but I do have a small follow up question. Why do you see the need to delete/edit previous content if at the time the content was written you followed the relevant policies at that time e.g. the gender policy?
It was bad that women didn't have the right to vote, even back when that was the way the rules were.

@Peilonrayz But if non-diamond users can't edit such content and have to live with it, what difference does it make for a diamond user? Why are they given such a right when there is no real need to edit previous content?
societies evolve, standards change. Past interactions shouldn't be judged by the standards of the past, but the standards of the present
there is one exception: the judicial system must only be allowed to apply laws as they were given at the time of the behaviour
otherwise one could just make something illegal and punish people for doing it before it was illegal

@Vogel612 So I assume that in your spare time you go through and edit all the non-gender neutral comments on the site where the OP didn't specify a gender?
@Xnero A non-diamond user can delete and edit their own content. Times change, YouTubers delete old content because of the chance of being cancelled for culturally acceptable actions at the time which no-longer are.

@Vogel612 Ok, I have every right to ask a question and I look forward to the nominee's answer.

@Peilonrayz That is not true, comments can't be edited after the grace period is over by non-diamond users.
@Xnero @Mast My more recent answers on code review include a General Observations section where I make a strong effort to point out any good things the OP's code has before providing a detailed list of problems in the code. I might have to revisit all my answers from 2015 through 2016 to add good items to the review.
My early answers mentioned your code or you which could possibly be taken as an attack on the OP, all of my more recent answers only talk about the code, and don't say you or your.
To be honest, it will take a major effort to review all of my answers (344) and comments (I have no clue how many) to find anything with gender neutral issues.
Do you know Kilisi? He became a moderator not too long ago. His tone is blunt, but honest. Refreshing even. Do you think he's going to edit all his previous posts? No.
And we knew up front, because I asked him about it.
If you want to make an effort, that's commendable. Absolutely.
But I don't think it's an obligation and/or required.
5 years ago I didn't think the world would look like it does now. Was that stupid, ignorant or unaware? I don't know. But the world changed and my behaviour with it.

> "We need not destroy the past. It is gone." - John Cage
@Mast That is the important thing - but it's also good to be cognizant of those who may have been hurt by the past. When we are the ones causing the hurt, we can not simply say that the past is gone. Its impact can linger for centuries, depending on the actions - though most fade relatively quickly. What we need to be cautious about is refusing to apologise for our past selves.
Yeah, I wanted to be a manager when I was young, for the authority. Now I would prefer to just be an individual practitioner. I view being a moderator as being a large responsibility and not as someone that has any authority.
I will absolutely apologize to everyone asking for one. I've said some truly stupid things in the past. Not many of that on the SE network, I hope, but still.
Cool. I intentionally avoided saying "you" because I don't want to feel like I'm accusing people of anything. I've done not nice things in the past and it's easy to say "I'm not like that any more" while forgetting to acknowledge the hurt and apologise. :)
I'm sure there was a lot more to what Mr. Cage said but I wanted to push back a bit on the concept of the past being gone. We can't change the past, for certain, but the impact of the past often times isn't really "gone".
Ah. :) A pop culture reference. I did google it and it was indeed said by a real person - a composer. Unless the internet has taken a joke reference in a video game as attribution to a real person - because that's never happened before... :P quote.org/quote/we-need-not-destroy-the-past-it-518400
Wikiquote seems to indicate it is actually a legitimate quote. Anyway, yes, the concept of a caricature is an English concept. en.wikiquote.org/wiki/John_Cage#1940s
Either way, I hope nobody will expect any of the upcoming moderators to be perfect. I know I'll make mistakes. I hope to fix them before any serious damage is done, but I definitely won't be perfect.
The Teachers' Lounge and the Moderator Team are both excellent resources for help in general moderation, as are the existing mods here. There's generally an excellent support structure, as long as you look out for it.
I've heard the TL can be a bit toxic at times, but I know where the helpful ones tend to hang out. I'm also sure the rest of the CR community won't mind giving feedback, including a couple of the ex-moderators when available.
The TL is generally a lot better now than it was. We created some new tooling for it this year that is designed to allow mods to flag stuff in the TL that's problematic for a subset of elected TL mods to vote on.
