@ymb1 Found this on pprune: “ The term 'Mach Trim' is normally associated with conventional flight control systems which have to provide a feel force feedback to the pilot.

With increasing Mach No the aircraft might suffer reducing stickforce-speed relationship which defines stability; Mach Trim applies a corrective trim offset to mask the effects of this change.”
It sounds like it has something to do with altering the stick force which might not work the same way with a stab trim.

@TomMcW I'm guessing it's related but the MD-90/717 threw a wrench at that idea
