I think everyone agrees that NASA is an acronym and should be pronounced as a single word. But what about its predecessor: NACA.
I'm pretty sure NACA was always pronounced as individual letters.
I've always understood it to also be an acronym, but I'm reading a book that keeps referring to it as the NACA which would indicate that the author pronounces it as an initialism like the FAA or the FBI. I've never actually heard anyone say it aloud.
@BretCopeland So you would call it the NACA?
yep, "the N.A.C.A."
That clears up my confusion then.
@BretCopeland I'm sure you've read the book I'm referring to: First Man.
I have not.
I did read "A Man on the Moon" which was the basis for HBO's From the Earth to the Moon series.
And I read some of John Young's autobiography.

@BretCopeland First Man is really, really, really detailed. It lists out nearly every sortie Armstrong did while he was in Korea.

Q: Lift breakdown for same relative angle

carlitadorI am trying to understand something about aircraft forces. Imagine I have these two situations: Situation 1 Main wing angle = 0, stabilizer angle = -10 degrees Situation 2 Main wing angle = +5, stabilizer angle = -5 degreees In both situation, the relative angle between main and stabilizer is 1...

What do y'all think, is this question understandable?
I didn't understand it and I asked some questions to clarify. The author of the post said that it was already clear and declined to answer my questions.
