@Shalvenay Saw a trainload of those humongous blades, two cars for each blade. What do they do about curves when they do that?

5:52 AM
@TomMcW normally, you have idlers on really long cars

@TannerSwett CG limits won't always affect your ability to take off: they may instead mean that stalls or spins are harder to recover.
I doubt a quarter-inch will kill you, but if there's a crash and you were out of limits, there might be repercussions later.

@DanHulme But having a CG that's forward of the limits isn't going to make stalls or spins harder to recover, is it?

@TannerSwett not spins, which are harder with a rearward CG, but it might increase the chance of an elevator stall
Peter Kampf would be able to give you a more comprehensive answer on that one, I'm sure :-)
Flying with someone in the back seat for the first time was interesting. It didn't change the handling of the airplane as much as I expected but I still needed more power and a slightly nose-up attitude.

@DanHulme did you at least get to enjoy watching them?

They were displaying about 20 miles away. We watched them take off and land in formation but all we could see of the display was the smoke.
I've seen them do it in better weather though.

darn
