@KorvinStarmast Hah, no; I just figured that if there was any place I could make that joke it was here. You were objecting that someone talking about breaking a curse (on an rpg forum-like object!) was clearly dead or an impostor, and where else can I point out the "logical conclusion"?
04:12
@Phoenices The assassination of Anwar Sadat is a matter of historical record.
04:37
@KorvinStarmast Ah, I thought I was sufficiently clear; this implies that due to some sort of unspecified curse, he came back as a ghost, and now wants help fixing that.
I guess other people's minds don't take the paths I think are self-evident; I momentarily forgot that in pursuit of a joke.

Larp criticism is a thankless process and the final straw is the fear of retaliation. The post This Larp Sucked – and Everyone Should Get to Read About It appeared first on Nordic Larp.

I've got a question that seems like it's probably been asked before, so just checking here: how do campaigns work if PCs can cast Resurrection? If resurrection is possible, then presumably important NPCs are never going to stay dead when killed, regardless of whether the NPCs are friendly or hostile
If it's more appropriate on the main SE I'll ask there

MANY tabletop RPG creators are posting their projects to Zine Month 2024, and I've made a list of some of the kid-friendly projects that are currently funding! Check it out here for an opportunity to get exclusive content, discounts, or cool games that won't be available later by backing the pre-release campaigns! @Phoenices Indeed, and I have run into that before also.
@Allure The limiting factor could be the number of 5,000 GP diamonds that exist in the world. Those perhaps should be quest items? They would be jealously guarded/horded by those who have them (think "The Hope Diamond") and doubly so for the very few 25,000 GP diamonds that True Resurrection requires.
15:28
@Trish Ooh, that's a good point, thank you.
DM: You need a 5,000 gp diamond, and the only ones you know of are the Diamond of the Wizard of Grimstead Vale and the Diamond of Priest Thorkel!
Players: Let's drive up the price of diamonds, we have a 1000 gp diamond so we only need to quintuple the price locally!

@Phoenices The fact that spells used diamond value as a requirement makes me think the idea is that their value is somehow intrinsic to the diamond itself rather than the outcome of market forces.
Alternatively, suppose they do manipulate the diamond market, OH NO! Now the spell requires a 7500 gp diamond!

@Phoenices Rocks fall and everyone dies (Also, what @ThomasMarkov said)
@Kerrick I invite you to remove that comment towards Thomas Markov under your question about DC'.s. I think it's not within the general "be nice" guidance, and it also betrays a misunderstanding of how the SE sites work.
20:40
@KorvinStarmast I believe that asking people who are not being nice to leave me alone isn't itself unknind; that'd fall under the paradox of tolerance. That said, without most of the context visible it does read strangely. I'll be glad to remove it once the other related comments on my post are gone.
21:38
@Kerrick I have no further suggestions, the comment just struck me as "off" so I commented.

@Xirema Sigh.*D&D has never been an economics simulator - the game engine wasn't and isn't built for that. Gold Pieces are a way to keep score (or were) and then became a way to get stuff that wasn't via adventuring. The point made earlier was that "XXXX GP" for a gem is an indication of quality ... in easy to understand game points terms. (Hence my comparison to the Hope Diamond)

@KorvinStarmast Good comment. I starred it.
@ThomasMarkov very kind of you. Each DM will add or subtract "how much economics to fit into their campaign" as a matter of taste, or a matter of table taste. I had part of my EPT campaign be, explicitly, the PCs on ships trading from port to port since the seas of Tekumel were so dangerous (random encounters) that it was easy for all to die on any given voyage. Surviving the voyage was thus profitable. Kind of Like The Spice Trade in the 1500s and 1600s, but not the same thing.
As we were all Maritime folks in our real lives, everyone at the table "got it" in terms of theme.
