Or I dunno, you do you, but this is why it's effective for me

They finally did it
It only took them nine years, but they finally fixed the Invisible condition.
Of course, they still took the most circuitous path to fixing it

@Xirema What was the issue? and where is that from?
@GcL It's from today's OneD&D Playtest material.
As for why the old wording was an issue....
> - An invisible creature is impossible to see without the aid of magic or a special sense. For the purpose of hiding, the creature is heavily obscured. The creature's location can be detected by any noise it makes or any tracks it leaves.
- Attack rolls against the creature have disadvantage, and the creature's attack rolls have advantage.
(PHB 291)
That second point was the original problem. Having Advantage tied to the condition itself.
Which led to endless debates about what should happen if a creature casts See Invisibility and can see an invisible creature, which yet still has disadvantage on attacks against them.
(and receiving advantage from the invisible creature's attacks)
Which, of course, Jeremy Crawford confirmed was indeed exactly how the rules worked, and implied it was intended all along

Gotcha. I guess it never came up for us. If the target can see the attacker, then the attack isn't invisible to the target. Kind of an implicit house rule that I don't think my tables have ever considered was a house rule. Usually happened with fairy fire.
@GcL See, Faerie Fire actually has a specific clause built in though.

I haven't been tracking the OneD&D at all. We decided to go with pathfinder 2e for subsequent games. Lost of the stuff we liked and a lot less WotC.

I mean, the number of house rules we're using at my table, we're practically playing D&D 5.1 anyways.
I modded stat arrays, feat progression, rebalanced some of the class features, etc.
We're using an extensive system for handling Critical Hits instead of just doubling damage dice, so that damage type matters more and crits are more exciting.

You know, @Bucket, there was once a war fought over that namesake. youtube.com/watch?v=Cln0J87vulU

@GcL I still prefer the war in which a disorganized Militia with Toyota HiLux totally demolished a theoretically organized army, because they were faster and more mobile. We know that war as the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_War
In the Toyota War, about 30.000 people won against 90000 infantry, 300 tanks, 60 aircraft - they destroyed over 800 tanks and APCs while losing only about 1000 of their own
19:08
In the first engagement once the Toyota truck became the standard issue vehicle, in Fada, for the loss of 3 trucks, the Chadian Army took out 92 tanks and 33 armored infantry fighting vehicles.

Q: Magical Boots creation help

FMorschelI have a D&D 5e character that was an acrobat, and I thought to create an item that helped me to act better on that. The item I presented to my DM was a magical boot. It's a mixture of two different magical items; Slippers of Spider-climbing Boots of striding and springing I wanted this boot to...

Q: How to describe a scene that a small creature chop a large creature's head off?

Terry WindwalkerSo let's assume a halfling (small size) wielding a Vorpal dagger attacking a storm giant (huge size), and the Vorpal ability gets triggered. As a DM, how should I describe this scene? Would the dagger magically grow longer (likely longer than the halfling himself) to chop the giant's head, the da...
