Just wondering(I think this is the right chat someone pointed me to): Would a character who has a history of spying for a city protectrate(similar to a military) be better suited for a spy background or soldier background?

Does this character have proficiency in Athletics, Intimidation, chariot-driving and gambling, and have an official rank that matters? Or does this character have proficiency in Deception, Stealth, gambling and lockpicking, and have an important contact? It depends on what you think your character did.
Hmm... He was in the Neverwinter Guard... he wasn't lockpicking or chariot-driving or lying, but he certainly wasn't training all the time. He was more like the Guard's agent on the streets.
@TieflingDragon84 I'd go spy -- it sounds like he was at least plainclothes if not undercover in the modern sense of the terms

@Feeds This is a REALLY good video about game design and how much space games take up in our lives, both physically (like prep time and play area) and mentally (like cultural familiarity and cognitive load)

@BESW An endorsement by you? It's in my YouTube watch queue
I've only watched about half of it so far, and about fifteen minutes in I was throwing it at my game design friends.
"Ludic cultural capital" is a jargonistic mouthful but what a useful concept.
How does one throw a digiti video πŸ€”πŸ˜œ
Quoting myself talking to a friend:
> The basic idea is that designers can think about how much of a player's life their game takes up, and they can make choices which change that "footprint" of the game. A game's footprint is both physical (like prep time or storage space) and abstract (like emotional impact and cultural familiarity).
And there's also footprints the player brings: like, a trick-taking game's footprint is smaller for a player who already knows about trick-taking games, because their ludic cultural capital footprint is large in the right way.

cool!
Like Bankuei says, it's addressing a LOT of game design discourse all at once.

Q: Will paralyzing a grappler break the grapple?

gtoAssume you're grappled but you have a melee attack that can cause the paralyzed condition. If you successfully paralyze your grappler, will that break the grapple? Paralysis causes someone to be incapacitated which prevents them from taking actions or reactions, but resisting an attempt to break ...
