@Eddymage Definitely not answering because I haven't done it at my tables, but it does sound like you want something to happen beyond the retcon. I'm not sure something oes need to happen, but one potential dice rolling option is roll for the new HP.

Within the rules, just part of the switch, but adds some risk.

Yes, I want something to happen mainly for 2 reasons: because I think that decisions and choice have consequences, and moreover there are some plot/background details that strongly suggest that something should happen

@NautArch it really depends, since he new hit die is lower, but the trill of the rolls adds something more to the whole event imho
