Q: Can the Circle Of Wildfire druid's Enhanced Bond, give the ability to have multiple origin for the multi ray spell type?

Giovanni Bibbò In addition, when you cast a spell with a range other than self, the spell can originate from you or your wildfire spirit. If I cast a multiple ray spell such as Scorching Ray or Eldritch Blast, can I split the origin of the rays? Or when I cast the spell I must chose one origin for all my rays?

@Someone_Evil I immediately pictured the clockwork droids from Dr Who

Hey
So I'm working on a little adventure for some apprentices
compiling a list of Forgotten Realms themed fools errands
I really like the idea of non-magically versed smartasses sending the apprentice to go get a bucket of steam (or the like), and them coming back with an actual bucket of actual steam
Anyone got any ideas along those lines?
think glass hammers, and left handed screwdrivers

@AndrewMicallef Smoke turners or sledgehammer grease were common 'round our way. Former might work better than the latter

Q: When does the target of Otto's Irresistible Dance start to dance?

Groody the HobgoblinThe spell Otto's Irresistible Dance enchants a creature so that it begins a comic dance in place: shuffling, tapping its feet, and capering which has several negative effects on the creature: A dancing creature must use all its movement to dance without leaving its space and has disadvantage o...

@AndrewMicallef Cotton sander, so that they're not too rough before they go into the gin.
It makes it even funnier if when the players say it out loud, they realize just how ridiculous the item would be if it actually existed.
If you can play it off well, you could have a Clock worker ask them something really on the nose: a Time Waster. It's a device you attached to a clock to spin the clock hands forward to make sure they'll still work in the future.

I cannot figure out where the “there’s no such thing as magical and nonmagical damage” thing comes from. Saw it all over a Reddit post this morning.
There’s no rule to that effect anywhere, and there are several examples from the rules that just say “nonmagical damage”.
So why are people so adamant about it?

@ThomasMarkov no idea
got a link?

@AncientSwordRage several comments in this thread: reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/z3f79m/…

@ThomasMarkov I assume from an internalization of the errata which changed "all" (or at least monster resistance) instances from non-magical damage to non-magical attacks
The remaining places are mostly odd balls and magic items (not that magic items aren't often odd balls, and are generally not well edited)

Wait, does that mean they aren't resistant to damage from spells?
I hadn't heard of that errata.
> Damage Resistances/Immunities. Throughout the book, instances of “nonmagical weapons” in Damage Resistances/Immunities entries have been replaced with “nonmagical attacks.” Source: media.wizards.com/2018/dnd/downloads/MM-Errata.pdf
This is the errata that's currently available for the MM. Replaces weapons* with attacks.

5:07 PM
Oh, right, misremembered

@ThomasMarkov I think the point might have been that there's Piercing Damage and Magical Damage, and something can be both, but there's no assumption that if a rule states 'Piercing Damage' that it's only 'Nonmagical Piercing Damage'.

Q: Surge ability die for legendary items

alemayoLegendary Surge ability for legendary items ends as: The legendary surge ability allows the bearer to add the result of a d6 to the appropriate type of roll or check. A mythic bearer can use her surge die type in place of the d6. If she’s bonded to the item, she can increase that die type by one...

@Axoren that makes me think of going to get a long stand or weight from stores
@Axoren the cotton sander sounds good. Could be usefull for shining up all those casks in the cellar

A pad of paper with a pencil and eraser attached to it.
A goose-feather quill, with the goose still attached so you can get another if the first quill breaks. A pity that the bit that you write with is the bit that attaches to the goose...
Several hundred bee-sized pipes, for when you need them to smoke and fall unconscious so you can collect the honey.
A walking stick for a fish who wants to leave the water.
@AndrewMicallef A Handy Donthaversack, which never has the thing you want on top. Even if there's only one thing in it.
A louse delouser, for the wizard's Dire Lice.
A corkscrewdriver. I have no idea what it is, but I like the name.
Star magnifying glass, so when you hold it to your face, the stars can see you better.
A piece of paper that tells you if you're going to die.
Fences for a seahorse enclosure, a sea cow enclosure, and a sea lion enclosure. Must be able to survive underwater for an extended period of time; you get half the profits of the enterprise.
A two-directional bow, that can be fired backwards and forwards at the same time.

@AndrewMicallef A cotton sander would be a sander for cotton, not one made out of cotton. Cotton is a notoriously itchy and rough material before it goes through a cotton gin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_gin). Sorry if I wasn't clear about how this fictitious item functioned.
