Q: How can healers track all PC's health without slowing combat?

CabinetCatI'm a GM and a couple of the players who have healing abilities are tracking others' HP on spreadsheets during combat. On the one hand, I love that they're looking out for each other. On the other hand, combat keeps getting slowed by the collective accounting of HP. The HP blockchain if you will....

Q: How much would a door weigh?

Rp_MasterI'm planning on playing a Paladin murder zealot. I just got an idea to use a door as a weapon/shield for an awesome battle style, like so: ...But I don't know if they can be wielded with the door's weight. (I'm already gonna get the Tavern Brawler feat; you don't have to mention it). How much wo...

[resigned sigh] Okay, what are y'all's favorite examples of TRPGs that use custom cards/decks for character/world/scene building? This is the third game I've started that seems like it'd be best to use that sort of prop, so I guess I ought to learn about it. But I think the only example I've ever played was Lovecraftesque.
@BESW I haven't played it yet, but my table is hyped to try playing The Quiet Year in between campaigns.

The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth is kinda convoluted but the card system is great. It's a pretty normal deck builder with classes, characters, etc. But the cards do double duty by being used as their resolution mechanic - cards have success symbols on the top corner. When you do a "check" (eg a might check) you draw a number of cards equal to your score and look at the symbols. It adds a tradeoff between using your good cards or hiding them in your deck so you can succeed checks.
04:24
@Xirema Hmm that looks like something useful to cross-reference with Cozy Town.

Q: D&D 5E - How much does a bag of holding weigh when it is infused by an artificer from a normal backpack?

Mike MurphyOK, I searched for an answer on this, but could not find one. The "Infusing an Item" feature of the artificer states "Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch a nonmagical object and imbue it with one of your artificer infusions, turning it into a magic item." Once my artificer achieved the...

Thinking of answering to this "the 15 pound weight is a magical property." It seems to be true, and was definitely true in previous editions.
Are there obvious holes in that argument?

05:01
@Phoenices There's a portable hole in that argument, and if you apply it to the original subject, you get sucked into the Astral Plane.
yerp, that's an issue. Isn't the internet already the astral plane? Made of thoughts and/or mysterious unknowable energy?

@Phoenices What it's made out of and how it works is entirely knowable. Knowing might not help your sense of security nor sanity, but at least it's interesting.

Yes, but only to highly competent wizards who've done years of research. Same as the Astral, I'd guess.
05:44
@BESW slapdash can, but we usually have people that can handle the improv
05:56
@BESW technically, no experience. But I have a friend who wants to get the rpg club and the mahjong club to interact occasionally and asked me if I knew any games that used a mahjong set as a physical-interaction-thing, which I didn’t, so I’m working on one, but I don’t think that counts as nonstandard?
Wait, change interact occasionally to interact in a good way (The RPG club vice president is dating the Mahjong Club’s third best player, and the Mahjong club co-president would like the rpg club VP to stop coming to her meetings and discussing how mahjong tiles are so similar to a deck of cards but also so different. Club politics.)
06:59
@BardicWizard Oh no, drama!
But hm, mahjong is definitely something I should think about.

Q: Can a Fire Elemental only set objects on fire by attacking them?

Σ of eDπI've found an odd discrepancy in the Fire Elemental's ability to set "stuff" on fire. In the Fire Elemental's statblock in the Monster Manual, the description of the Fire Form trait states (emphasis mine): Fire Form. The elemental can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezi...

@BESW Yes, Cozy Town was inspired by The Quiet Year. You may also want to look at The Deep Forest for somewhat of an opposite tonal direction.
Primetime Adventures uses a deck of cards as a prompt for the genre mashup that your episodic drama is based on; each card is a unique prompt.
Questlandia uses a deck of cards as an oracle for the dooms of the kingdom (suits only) and to detail some elements of the starting dramatic cast (rank for social position, color for starting mood).
One possible outcome of your scene roll is to draw another doom card and make its suit worse.
There are of course the acts of the Lindworm, dropping wax-wrapped and sharp-edged into the craftwork world of Sleepaway.
If we're talking about cards in the "one thousand blank white" sense, a penny for my thoughts makes use of user-created prompt cards, randomly distributed.
Every crisis scene in Our Last Best Hope similarly pulls a card from a user-created pool as appropriate to the disaster playset. Take a crisis, leave a crisis.
Oh! And Fiasco's back, in playing card form.
What Ho, World! and Wizards Aren't Gentlemen are card-based games from UFO Press, which combine random goal and asset cards to create in-genre conditions and motivation with a resolution system where you exhaust a card from a given suit to perform a generic or role-specific action.
They're a bit Belonging Outside Belonging in that the suit actions are definitive and powerful, and that you can inconvenience yourself to take an asset or goal card face-down as a wild token.
I say "suit" but the suits are the only elements of the card, there's no rank noted on them. Each character is represented by a pool of dual-suited cards, which can work either as a token or a permanent role action; you take two at the start of the game, and whenever you get a wild token you give up one of your dual-suited ones, getting another role action.
11:10
And of course, when you initiate into the Order of Fate, take fate=0. When you accept the danger of reading your own Fate, draw a card from the Tarot deck, and without looking at it, choose to tempt fate or suffer fate.
If you suffer fate, gain 1-fate and the GM flips the card and interprets it as it lies. If you tempt fate, flip the card and roll +fate. On a 10+, the GM will offer you a choice between their upright and reversed interpretations; name your fate and lose 1-fate (you can go negative). On a 7-9, the GM interprets it as it lies. On a 6-, the GM rotates and interprets it as they choose; gain 1-fate. Until your Fate has come to pass, you can read no other.

@BESW Am I missing something or does this only work in like a bulk social setting it's dangerous to go alone
Like a bar/college event/con or something that has has specifically planned it
Yes, the context is the Business Card Jam.
> Business cards are often exchanged by game designers (and others) as a social ritual, but many end up lost or recycled without ever being used beyond the moment of exchange. What would it look like to try and make that experience more story-shaped, or even to embrace the transient nature of a business card as a part of gameplay?
Also, that reminds me of a kickstarter idea that I've long since had. "Deck of Mini Things" - business card sized DoMT
The Business Card Jam came out of experiences with designers networking at conventions.
@BESW yea, I read that but was having trouble parsing it, for some reason
ah ha. that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying
No problem! A lot of stuff like jams makes very little sense from a player-exclusive perspective, because they're by and for the designers and emerge from the experiences and needs of design circles.
13:49
mmm, jam.
This man jams
(My perspective and understanding of TRPGs expanded and shifted dramatically when I started paying more attention to indie and small press creators than to players or mouthpieces of big companies.)
@BESW no! My viewpoint is always right and I refuse to change that or acknowledge any "facts" that would contradict the way I look at things! /s

Q: What if one PC wants to do something without party?

CarefulClericMy PC often has interrupted dreams where family members come to speak with him about what he's doing with his party. The DM describes these dreams and my PC has choices and some controls in them (he was able to fight in one of them.) They are described to the whole party, but my PC hasn't shared ...

^ is that only opinion based?
I've answered drawing from my experiences where I can
oh hey, I was just voting on that
13:58
@AncientSwordRage Your answer ain't bad, but I think the issue is (for me) that it appears to be generating options without any good subjective for those options - or why those options may be good for them.
And i'm not sure we can answer that last bit at all.
The question per se is fine, but the way it's couched feels like it's wanting to ask AITA instead.
But your answer is better than the other because you do draw from experience - but is that experience relevant to the OP to solve their problem? I'm not sure...we don't know enough.
@BESW @GroodytheHobgoblin's comment :)
The title definitely isn't the question
The question is more "how can I set up secret events for my character and still involve the party"
@goodguy5 Is the TLDR?
If I were in the audacious editing mood, I'd re-write it to ask "how does a player handle wanting to do this."
14:01
@goodguy5 and the answer to that is...talk to your DM.
@NautArch essentially
@goodguy5 That's what I thought- and that seems opiniony.
But I'm willing to be wrong :)
@NautArch Well, it always is. But we can give specific terms and guidance on how to frame that conversation to be productive.
@BESW How can I talk to my DM about this need would be a good question.
And that could be what's being asked, but the "you" in the summary question is ambiguous.
Hence my inclination to interpret it as "how does a player handle this" because that's something the asker would find actionable.
14:03
@BESW I like that idea - added a comment (hope you don't mind)
If the "you" is interpreted as the GM, then answers are not actionable and it becomes an AITA.
@BESW I think You must be the GM, otherwise it's not actionable either. The DM is going to have the final say.
But they may not see it that way...
so yah, it could be the player.
arglebargle
So the problems at play here, by my reading.
- The player wants this "cool RP moment"
- The player has a specific idea for how the rest of the party should be involved
- The DM isn't 100% clear on what the player wants
- The other players don't know about any of this
Nah, if "you" is the GM then the asker can't act on the answers except to tell their GM "someone on the Internet says you're wrong."
GM advice isn't actionable by the player asking the question.
I voted to leave that one open, I fell on the "it's probably okay" side of the fence the question is straddling
14:05
So, 1. are those the right problems,
and 2. are those problems stackable in a single instance
@ThomasMarkov I'm sad to see ASR's answer getting less votes then. Theirs is actually supported.
fixed that ;P
@ThomasMarkov Can you convince me to retract my close?
:D
@NautArch I think the other answer is okay too. It gives good exposition on the conventional idea that D&D is meant to be cooperative play. They could cite some passages from the PHB and DMG that talk about it and then the rest of their answer would be commentary on applying those principles.
@ThomasMarkov Passages yes, but for something like this I think their own good subjective would be helpful. Otherwise, it's full of 'I think, I would" and that's opinion. It may end up being right, but are we going with right over supported?
Alright, I've considered working, and instead I'm going to lay back down.
have fun yall
Given how much of 5e (and our answers about 5e here) ride on "the GM decides everything," a book-only answer feels... anemic?
14:12
@goodguy5 good choice!
@BESW i agree
@NautArch I’m probably okay with “general wisdom” that naturally stems from applying the way the texts frame the game. But maybe I’m biased because I agree with the answer.
@ThomasMarkov Yep - that's always my concern. I agree = upvote is dangerous when the answer isn't 'good', just 'agreeable'.

15:51
Do we have a question about door shenanigans in combat in 5e? I mean... there's a door. Open it, attack, close it... something like that...
@Trish I want to say yes...
It may be more hallway shenanigans
45
Q: How can I discourage/prevent PCs from using door choke-points?

BlueMoon93To keep this from being voted as a duplicate of this, let me clarify. The other question asks for DM tactics to battle chokepoints. Its answers are all focused on fighting at these choke-points. I ask for ways to avoid PCs creating/using choke-points. I want my PCs to jump into the boss room whic...

I was thinking of going all silly and having a group of heroes putting down doors next to doors in a hallway, which they open to attack and close to get full cover when not acting...
I knew i remembered it.
One character could not open-attack-close in a single turn, but two characters could open-attack, attack-close.
@ThomasMarkov action surge/rogue bonus action?
15:57
Can rogues use a bonus action to object interact?
@ThomasMarkov thief?
Ah, Thief Rogue's 3rd level feature
But i'm just pulling out the specific folks that can do it - otherwise you're right.
it's not generally a tactic one person can do.
You could potentially have a companion of some kind (familiar, unseen servant, tiny servant, etc.) close the door for you
^true
16:04
Or have someone who has a ranged weapon use a rope to close the door from behind you using their free object interaction.
@Trish That would likely be a reaction, no?
@NautArch could be used as a setup, yes.
And you mean one-handed range weapon?
@Trish How would someone close the door when it's not their turn?
@NautArch something like the hand crossbow, yes.
Or just rely on the enemy to open the door using that as a trigger to use a delayed attack and close the door? hmmm...
@Trish That's giving up your attack action, isn't it? Stil having to use your Ready and a reaction - which can only happen once.
16:09
@NautArch dang...
womp womp 5e
There must be a setup how one can reliably improvise a shield-wall
If you didn't find calling Home Depot helpful, you should try Ace Hardware, because Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks.
@Trish that might be a solid mainsite question
5e doesn't really like that kind of creature count for combat IMO. Not surprised it's missing
16:11
but good chance it draws ideas
@Someone_Evil creature count?
You'd have to have some clearly defined parameters for the outcomes sought.
@NautArch Number of combatants in combat
I'm sorta assuming you want a shield wall with 10+(?) soldiers for to start really being a wall?
@Someone_Evil ah, i think it's the functional wall more than the numbers...but I'll let @Trish clarify :)
Maybe that's me assuming you need the numbers to get a functional shield wall (beyond having creatures in front with shields for their AC and cover mechanic protecting those behind)
Here is a homebrew shield wall feat.
"When you are within 5 ft of an ally, both you and your ally gain a +1 to AC. This effect can stack with other allies with this feat."
Surely there is no way to break the game with this.
16:21
I would require allies to have a shield.
Not to have the feat, but to have a shield.
although paired feats to allow stacking when one feat just gives one +1
interesting...
Get 16 size small PCs all with the feat and the ability to cast enlarge/reduce, pack the now tiny creatures into a 10x10 square, and they all get +15 AC.
There's too much in that feat, but I think it's got good bones.
@NautArch "Shield wielding allies within 10 feet of you get +1 AC" is probably where I would start playtesting it.
To what extent is the Protection fighting style relevant to this? It covers some of the same idea, no?
@ThomasMarkov i'd probably say adjacent.
but...that's a really good point about protection. And I've always been underwhelmed by that style.
maybe it's a new fighting style rather than feat?
16:26
@NautArch Yeah.
Do we have a question about how great weapon fighting affects expected damage
I feel like this answer is missing enough to warrant NAA, no?
Definitely shouldnt be scored +3/-0
@NautArch It's at its best when you're 2v1 in melee which I'm not sure is that frequent for most table. In my experience it leans more towards 1v3 :p
@Someone_Evil Do you use optional flanking?
@Someone_Evil These two answers could at least use a post notice, I'm not sure theyre even worth keeping around.
@NautArch I think we're technically doing so in the campaign where I'm a player, but it doesn't come up very often (we use a +2 variant IIRC)
@Someone_Evil oooh, that's kinda neat. no advantage - just +2?
16:35
Aye
That makes the effort to flank a little less 'required'
I've been considering taking out flanking in the next campaign.
@Someone_Evil in a tunnel of 10 to 15 feet width, 3-5 on one side and any number on the other that are stopped from acting by slamming the door in their face?! That's not a large number, yes?
Ah, but that's more taking the Help action on keeping a door shut than a shield wall (at least as I assumed the term)
It's functioning akin to how the roman formation actually is supposed to work: There is no way to harm the tortoise (every soldier is in the cover of a shield) and they open "the door" to allow an attack to go out, then close it again. The door however is actually a gap of about 3 inch, which then is closed after the spear attack is out. So... wait... hat's one who opens and closes the door (and holds it closed otherwise) and one that from behind uses a reach weapon to attack through the ally?
@ThomasMarkov Agree on one, if there's something you're distinctly missing one the other one a comment would probably serve better
16:49
22
Q: Is there a penalty for attacking THROUGH an ally's position while in Melee?

NautArchYou can move through an ally's position (as difficult terrain), but can you attack through it at no cost? If you have 10' reach, but there is an ally between you and the target, does the target get the +2 cover or is that ignored as friendly ally who could move away?

@Trish Akin to doesn't really mean it should be covered the same way
@Someone_Evil yes... the silly idea is "can you have full cover all the time when it's not your turn?"
And 5e goes all sort of wonky with soldiers in tight formation (initiative, squeezing, etc.). You might be better off modeling a roman turtle formation as a single creature/using a single stat block

hello
@NautArch how are you??
not too bad today :)
getting some data entry done and about to take the kids skiing.
@NautArch have you gone skiing or is it your first time?
@Someone_Evil Ok, so a roman cohort is a colossal construct with 600d6 HD and 6 attacks? ;)

@NautArch It's hard for me to not eat.
@Trish What CR do you land at with that?
GcL

@Someone_Evil That's what I did. Added a voltron like ability for trained soldiers facilitated by a higher CR soldier. Actually yoinked a lot of mechanics from Ars Magica for it.
@goodguy5 Me, too. I get migraines if I don't eat regularly. But when I'm sick, I tend to not eat - and very much so with that illness.
@Catofdoom2 I started with the kids about 3 years ago and this season I'm getting comfortable with it :)

Because handling a single creature named "unit" or "squad" is much nicer than dealing with five separate creatures with init and all that jazz.
@GcL ooooooh

@NautArch thats really cool. i can't rember the last time i went skiing and i'm moving to florida soon so i probaly won't go again
@Catofdoom2 You're turning into Florida Cat!
Never thought I'd like it, and never thought I'd pick it up in my 40s.
who knew?!
Floridian cat
sayings are weird because its not uncommon for people to continue to grow and learn and discover new hobbies regardless of age
Even when I'm nauseated, for some reason that like weird pit of the stomach bad feeling just doesn't do a good job telling my brain not to eat.

The hard part was that last week, Goodkid5 had a positive test, and thus was home from school. Goodwife5 was a touch ill, as well (and pregnant), so I chipped in as much as I could.

We got him cleared to go this week so I can actually take any rest I need.
@goodguy5 i read that and find it adorable that you refer to your family in that manner
how else would I refer to them? lol
I would expect you one day to refer to your spouse of doom2, and children of doom2 (theoreticaly)
17:07
i think most people would just say "my wife" "my son"
lol maybe
I think I got it from Saint Wacko over in arqade, but it could predate that
@goodguy5 i just find it cute
i have an additional question @goodguy5
@Catofdoom2 I have an additional answer
@Someone_Evil hm, let me calculate... 350 HP is a 20 and 6*1d6 is 3, for a sum of 23. Stay for AC 19, -2 for a Prof.Bonus of jsut +2 and -4 for BAB +2, so CR 8,5? It's a nasty slog of a fight, but it doesn't do damage... Hoewever, Cohorts are pack animals... or do you talk about swarms if they are 60? ;)
do you have apex legends or war-zone? i know its probably cringe but i plan to do a playing with viewers stream this Friday and i kinda just wanted to see if you'd be interested. no pressure of course. @goodguy5
17:11
@Catofdoom2 I do play warzone, but I'm usually spending designated wife time on Fridays
@goodguy5 of course. my apologies. maybe some other time then.
no apologies needed, thanks for thinking of me.
And it's not cringe. just enjoy it. ^_^
@Rubiksmoose This looks like the earliest instance of the goodfamily5. Thanks Rubiksmoose
> when is goodbaby5 due?
that is indeed adorable.
ugh, I've picked up a dumb habit from a dumb idle game that I play.

ctrl scroll to go to the top or bottom of a menu, so I keep changing my font size
@goodguy5 reading through old chat logs is weird
17:15
@Catofdoom2 quite
Man, I miss me some Moose.
@NautArch Do we know where they went?
seeing things where people say "i know this isn't official but theoretically could..." then people respond with "that's not official" its kinda weird.
@goodguy5 Nope :(
Or, at least, i don't.
@Catofdoom2 Well, we are a bunch of nit picking nerds, afterall
disclaimer: I know that I've been asked not to call us nerds, it was hyperbolic
17:18
lol
@goodguy5 I have no issue with that language.
I am very proud of nerdosity.
i'd say we are nerds. intelligent, obsessive, socially inept.
@NautArch IS Florida Cat the feline equivalent of Florida Men?
@Trish That was the attempted joke.
maybe not all of us are that last part but overall i believe us to be nerds
17:19
@NautArch Better than Florida Werewolves. Those are Glasswalkers and Bonegnawers
@trish thats a new one to me
@NautArch If you'll recall long ago, I was asked to stop saying "morning, nerds" due to some complaints administered to..... besw, iirc.
@Catofdoom2 "obsessive" has negative connotations, and "socially inept" is explicitly negative. If you could please refrain from declaring that "overall" we have negative traits?
@goodguy5 Totally fair if someone doesn't appreciate or like the label.
@bobble That's very reasonable - thank you for pointing that out.
@Catofdoom2 World of Darkness pun. Glasswalkers and Bonegnawers are the bottom of the Garou totem pole, as in the least rage-y and gaia-connected. Citydwellers
17:21
self-deprecation can be fine, but group-deprecation, even of a group where you claim membership, is much more touchy
Then maybe I wasn't talking to them :P. At any rate I stopped, and I think I left the stack for a little while.

One of multiple times where something I felt to be unreasonable caused me to decide maybe this wasn't the place for me.
@goodguy5 I hear ya.
Oh dear, I used to self-describe as a nerd exactly because it implied being not very socially apt among other things, but apparently that word can no longer work for that . . .
And I hope I"ve not done anything to contribute to those feelings @goodguy5.
@NautArch There was one that REALLLLLLLY ruffled my feathers and I don't think you were involved.
I was gone for many months for that one
17:25
@NautArch I and my kids did Berkshire East with my brother and his kids a couple of weeks back--I was pleasantly surprised. Where are you heading?
@Trish interesting
@bobble i don't believe them to be negative but if you wish so i will refrain from doing so
you don't believe "inept" to have negative connotations?
@nitsua60 I just went there a few weeks ago! First trip and that's a super fun mountain. Kids went tubing, but I skied.
We've got season passes at Bousquet.
I'm not socially inept, I'm a gosh dang butterfly
And again, there is a world of difference between saying that you have personal negative qualities, and declaring that we have negative qualities
17:29
I have come to learn I can play an extrovert extremely well. But I'm an introvert.
@goodguy5 that is why i said maybe not the last one as much
is a introvert butterfly a thing? @NautArch @goodguy5
@bobble @bobble i do not. maybe that wasn't the right word choice but i don't find it negative. if you struggle to be social then you struggle to be social that is neither positive nor negative
i. am. leaving.
once again if you desire for me to not use such wordage that is fine
@bobble hello leaving, I'mgoodguy5
@bobble I would prefer if you didn't feel like you had to leave. If it's alright, I can move this to Dragons?
17:33
does anyone know where swordrage has been?
@Catofdoom2 It may be more helpful in the future to accept when someone asks you not to do something. Trying to explain one's reasons usually makes others just feel like you don't want to change.
Just take the request and go with it :)
@NautArch oki doki
@NautArch If I may snark.....
I'd prefer if you not give us helpful life advice :P /s
@goodguy5 i don't know what that word means but please do
@Catofdoom2 "snark" is like "sass", if that helps
17:36
@goodguy5 You'll take my helpful life advice and like it!
maybe with a spoonful of sugar?
MORE LIKE WITH A GRAIN OF SALT
someone please find that mary poppins song and place it here. the "spoonful of sugar" song
@goodguy5 hey-o!
can anyone find the song
@Catofdoom2 I mean, I easily could
but you could just as easily
wtfork is with these 'w' working into my words.

Anyways, my DM has asked me if there's any magic item that I'd be interested in, but I really don't know what would fit with my character, given that part of their concept is that their necessary equipment is all intrinsic.
is the magic schoolbus a magic item or a construct (or a mimic)?
Maybe a magical tattoo?
@MikeQ yes
Not sure how that'd work for a plasmoid.
18:08
@NautArch if you think that'd be good. On my end, I've concluded that seeing the messages is not good for my personal mental health and have thus updated my SE chat ignored users list, so I'm not seeing them anyways.
I wanted to fully utilize the plasmoid ability to slip through small spaces so I multiclassed soulknife rogue and warlock to have a weapon and armor on me at all times. That way, I'm not disadvantaged whenever I want to ooze through a door or something.
And would have to leave behind anything that doesn't fit through the gap.
But now I'm not sure what to do for magical items.
Do you have magic armor that reshapes with you while slipping under a door?
I took the warlock invocation that lets me cast mage armor at will.
Do you have a magic door that you can slip under?
Doesn't seem like something I can comfortably carry.
18:19
Ok, so the magic door is magically comfortable to carry around. Problem solved.
Sure it is, you just gotta be like Schleppel.
18:33
@MikeQ I suppose I could use it as a shield, but I'm a plasmoid not a big bald burly northerner with a fantastic mustache.
@bobble Hey, sorry if I was rude.
@goodguy5 oh, don't worry. you're nice.
you are, dare I say, a good guy
huzzah lol

@goodguy5 The internet has ruined me. I read "sass" and immediately my mind jumps to css style sheets.
@GcL yea....

@Yuuki Magical flask that you can use to store a potion. That way you can have a potion on/in you at all times.
Hmm, that reminds me, I need to ask my DM what they think about me keeping or moving items through my body.
@Yuuki excuse me, what?
19:04
@goodguy5 Not the best thing to say to someone who’s upset
@PrinceNorthLæraðr Yes, I've been made aware
👍
Bobbles a good friend of mine, don’t like to see her upset
this reminds me to update my profile pronouns...
@PrinceNorthLæraðr yea, I'd misunderstood the situation.
@bobble ah frick, forgot. Apologies
19:09
@ThomasMarkov My character's a plasmoid.
@Yuuki Ah, that makes much more sense.
Technically, it's not an ability they have but you see it a lot with ooze-like creatures. I've done it before in a previous session, but I wanna double-check with my DM that they're okay with it because I can already tell that being able to slip under doors may be problematic.
And I don't want to add to that if it's too annoying for encounter design.

@Yuuki Problematic for you too if it takes a while to completely ooze through.

@Yuuki If you have access to dndbeyond, there are plenty of small magic items like amulets and rings that could add to your character's defenses & utility. The one that protects against divination magic might be especially nice while sneaking as an ooze.

SAAO: Sneaking as an ooze. "Snoozing" for people in the plasmoid know.
19:37
@ThomasMarkov Yep, that one. Good for hiding from wizards. Also, depending on how boots work while in ooze form, there are plenty of magic boots that help with stealth and movement. @Yuuki For defensive items, bracers of defense and ring of protection could help.
@ThomasMarkov I wonder if you can get an amulet of proof against set theory?
@AncientSwordRage Probably just stay away from most math.
@ThomasMarkov good plan

@AncientSwordRage Godel's Amulet?
@ThomasMarkov Amulet of proof against proofs.

First Incompleteness Theorem: "Any RPG rule set within which a certain amount of elementary roleplaying can be carried out is incomplete; i.e., there are interpretations of the rules of the RPG which can neither be proved nor disproved in the RPG."
Magic is used by crazy wizards. Magic and math both start with MA. MA is the postal code for Massachusetts. Logan International Airport, the largest airport in New England by passenger volume, is in Massachusetts. Airplanes take off from airports. The aviation industry accounts for ~8% of worldwide oil consumption. I have no idea where I'm going with this, but it's probably nowhere good.
@GcL heh
Cantor's Quiver
@Yuuki Aviation shares the same root as aviary. Aviaries account for a large proportion of bird feed consumption. The rest are consumed by thieving squirrels. A wizard can polymorph you into a squirrel. Therefore, squirrels are a threat to worldwide industry because of wizards.
@AncientSwordRage Hilbert's Handy Haversack
Wake up sheeple (or else crazy wizards will steal your bird food via the occult powers of math)

@ThomasMarkov That's an obligate +1 artifact. Had a barbarian use that to slay one of Markov's hidden genies.

@nitsua60 Can you (mods) change usernames of other accounts?
After a fashion, why do you ask?
He's got a great idea for a special April 1st network-wide event.
@Someone_Evil I'm seeing lots of defunct accounts named spammer, which, If I were a spammer, is the last thing I would name my spammer.
Yup, that'll be a moderator fixing a profile spammer
I've figured out what you guys do all day.
21:28
I don't think it's that many who bothers with profile spammers tbh
@Someone_Evil I lost it at "American Spamguard Association"
Well, I hope you find it again. It could be important.

Q: What if one PC wants to do something without party?

CarefulClericAs a player, how would you approach your DM about your character doing something out of session that neither the others players/party wouldn't witness.? (Example, asking to sneak away from the party) The goal would be able to do something without it being described in front of all players to avoi...

With the edit, my answer isn't really relevant anymore so I've taken it down while I rework it. — AncientSwordRage 44 secs ago

@AncientSwordRage still a well written and valid frame challenge, methinks.
@AncientSwordRage Your answer is still relevant and valuable. The asker's (presented) goal is to avoid metagaming from other players/player characters.
22:38
@ThomasMarkov I never wrote it as a frame challenge though
@MikeQ yup, just needs some reworking
