@goodguy5 Is this the entire chain, or does it start elsewhere?
@goodguy5 @Xirema This is the start, and this the question

Q: How can a wizard get the most out of being able to cast 2 cantrips a turn?

AyebrowMy DM decided to let any spellcaster cast a cantrip that takes an Action to cast as a Bonus Action or full Action. For now, I have just been using ray of frost twice a turn or using two minor illusions for a sound and visual. How can I get the most out of this rule? I have told him that this is a...

RadioAirHyper asks on twitter "What are some ttrpgs/larps that use space in interesting ways? Like, literally outer space. And clear use in design is to emphasize a core theme."
I can vouch for this. I played in a campaign as a Warlock. The party found the illusionist bracers; but all we knew was the name, not the functionality. I piped in, "My warlock specialized in deception (he's a fortune teller by trade), so I imagine something to do with illusions would be helpful." The party agreed and I strapped them on. I became a walking cannon. The campaign ended shortly afterwards because of the imbalance. — MivaScott 7 hours ago

Q: Are creatures under the effect of the Minimus Containment version of the Imprisonment spell frozen in place?

CellheimThe spell says nothing can pass through the gem except light. Does that include the imprisoned creature moving around the inside of the gem?

@goodguy5 PSA: sleep is good for you, so go to bed if you haven’t already and it’s late in your time zone (says the person up at 11:30 pm who’s been texting/watching disaster movies/sympathizing/crocheting for most of the last four hours)

Q: Can monster CR from 3.5 be directly converted into monster CR in 5e?

SeriousBriI am looking to convert a few modules from 3.5 to 5e, and while I am going to change the nature of the creatures encountered, I am not 100% sure how. Does 3.5 follow the same kind of encounter xp and adventuring day xp rules that 5e does? For instance, if I see a CR1 creature in a 3.5 module, can...

Q: When a character regains consciousness mid-fight after their initiative passed, do they get a turn?

Jack_RussellI have a problem understanding regaining consciousness. From what I know, a creature that loses its consciousness during the battle needs to have its HP to be raised above 0 once again. But what if the fight is still going on? Let's say, we have 3 heroes fighting an enemy, with this initiative or...

I was today years old when I realised illusion spells don't ever rely on the deception skill
That's an interesting split between magic models; does magic replace a mundane skill, or enhance it?
(Or is magic entirely unrelated to mundane skills and opens up entirely new realms of competence instead?)
They do sometimes rely on Invstigation. Lots of illusions say "creatures can make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your Save DC to determine it's an illusion"
That's not a caster-facing roll.
And it's pretty common for them to depend on Wisdom Saving Throws.
And as a DM, it wouldn't be unusual if I said "Make a Spellcasting check using your Deception proficiency", but I'm getting the impression I'm one of the only DMs who relies really heavily on the "Alternative Ability Check" rules.
I'm also thinking about paradigms outside D&D.
Like in Fate where it could be "You can use Lore instead of Deceive to create advantages by conjuring sensory illusions" or "You get +2 when using Deceive to create advantages augmented by sensory illusions."
Or in Lady Blackbird where magic can a trait with a family of tags like any other trait, but the trait isn't only invoked when you're actually doing magic, it can be invoked when you're doing anything related to being magical or having familiarity with the elements your magic involves. Or magic can be a "you can always do this" permission.

@AncientSwordRage Why would it rely on a deception skill? I can imagine it relying on an artistic skill to shape the illusion correctly (instead of drawing someone's likeness with a pencil, you paint it with the illusionary capability), but the deception skill seems to be more social than . . . well, than that.
And then there's magical paradigms like The Sun's Ransom where your vampire's unique ability is recapturing sensations of being human and channeling that into recovering the sun.
