@BESW the C-5 system from where on earth is Carmen Sandiego! It takes you there instantly but you also get an informational lecture on the way
@BardicWizard I love it.
@BESW I have a long-standing love for Carmen Sandiego in all iterations. Less love for the video games but the new one (relatively new, w/e) is pretty good for something breaking away from every convention of the franchise
I don't have a lot of exposure to Carmen but I appreciate what I've encountered.
I like the new show (it’s a Netflix thing? I think?) and it makes sense without anything else for context but it makes a lot of references to both the video games and the older shows that mean its maybe not the greatest first introduction. Also it’s completely changing Carmen from a thief stealing for the fun of it to a white hat getting back at the thieves who raised her, which shocked at least one person I know who started with the new show and saw where in the world/on earth/in time later
I would write the thinly veiled rpg knockoff if I didn’t have two rpg projects on the back burner I’ve been meaning to get to. The d&d folks at school are being close minded about “indie” games again so I have no testers

Q: How strong is this stat generation method?

SypherienTopic: D&D 5e character generation methods TL;DR: Is this imbalanced for character generation? Roll 20d6, drop 2 lowest, assign groups of 3 dice for stats. Context: We have tried multiple character generation method in our group and I have come up with a system (emphasis not on me inventing, migh...

I have voted to close this question as a duplicate of this question.
Have any of you used Arcane Gate in play? (D&D 5e) it's an interesting utility spell but I am trying to think through use cases, and creative uses, and so far not getting very far
@KorvinStarmast There's an episode of Critical Role where they get some good use out of it (and I'm pretty sure they used it correctly as written).
2.127 is the episode Im thinking of, cast at 1:40
It was also cast once each in the last two episodes, but I dont remember what for.
In episode 127 it was used for an infiltration mission.

@ThomasMarkov seems like your answer also takes the comment rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/195133/… into consideration, would you mind adding that information to the question?
@ThomasMarkov Thanks! :) That's exactly what I want to use it for.
@KorvinStarmast It is super effective for evacuation with an immediate threat.
I will note that the Mighty Nein are hilariously bad at infiltration, and episode 127 is no exception.
@ThomasMarkov Do they have nine players, or are they using the actual German term "nein" to mean "no" there?
@KorvinStarmast Let's just say you would not be the first person they have encountered to wonder that.
It's a running joke of the campaign to have people they meet count the party and get confused.
14:51
@KorvinStarmast Ran an Epic once where the idea was to get as many civilians as possible out of a city that was being overrun by demons; we gave a couple of scrolls of arcane gate to each table.
@nitsua60 OK, that sounds like a good use that at the moment I can't apply to my brother's world, but since he hasn't developed content that far ahead, who knows how useful it may be? When we hit the capital city we may very well run into a calamity when we try to unseat the usurper...

Q: Does a Genie Warlock's Simulacrum regain their Mystic Arcanum and Limited Wish?

Victor BThe situation is this: A Genie Warlock comes up with an elaborate scheme relying on multiple uses of his Mystic Arcanum; Wish. They know that this can be only cast once a day, but the wizard gave them a hint that just might double their efforts... Wishing for a simulacrum!!! The simulacrum spell ...

Q: Do spell effects that trigger when you are hit still trigger if they do not penetrate your active Arcane Ward?

user48255I'm specifically wondering about the spells Armor of Agathys, Fire Shield, and Shield, but a general answer would be helpful. For example, if a level 9 Abjuration Wizard/level 2 Warlock multiclass with an Arcane Ward with 20 hit points active, Fire Shield cast at 4th level, and Armor of Agathys ...

@KorvinStarmast Since it's defined to be perpendicular to the ground, you could use it ala the game Portal and attach it to a cliff such that an object would fall indefinitely through it into itself. A bonus action to turn the upper portal would launch something quite a ways.
18:25
(Because as we all well know, D&D is a great physics simulator)
18:46
@JoelHarmon Positively outstanding.
@JoelHarmon it's how Einstein tested out his theory of relative bearing grease
@KorvinStarmast Ooh! If you're in the Ethereal plane, you might be considered to be able to see both the Ethereal and Material at the same time, and a generous or foolhardy DM could allow you to use it to switch planes for however many folks can make the trip in 10 minutes.
@JoelHarmon will discuss that with my DM. Sound like a good plan if he's willing to go along with it.
