Today I discovered how to get a bunch of players to go along with the dungeon: let them suggest monsters and do unexpected things to get past the monsters (an awkwardness contest, for example), all the rooms only have one way out, and name all the monsters after various “virtues” which are either perfectly appropriate or inappropriate for the character at hand.
Like Kindness the flumph, Courage the Quetzalcoatl, and Laughter the pseudodragon, versus Patience the Sphinx, Honesty the quasit, and Calmness the fire elemental

Q: What do you do when one of your players is being difficult?

Violet VastayaI am running a campaign and have been for about 5 months now. All of my players are pretty new to D&D. All except one. He is honestly my worst player despite all of his experience. He is constantly complaining nonstop. He didnt like his first character, so he asked for me to kill his character so...

Is somebody else experiencing drop-down menus for notifications breaking?

11:39 AM
goes to look

Looks fine to me

Same, but I am on mobile

Ben
Quick side question: when you level up its a dice roll or average plus con right? So d8 or 5 plus con? (In 5e)
Also same

@Ben assuming this is D&D I think so? There's also the option of max hp

12:35 PM
Thanks for looking at it, if it persists I'll do a bug report.
@Ben That is the common way to do it. Max hp for first level.
The more I gm 5e, the more I enjoy average hp and never rolling for them.

1:12 PM
@Ben Average, rounded up, but yup

@Akixkisu One of the many things I appreciated about 4e, yeah.

2:07 PM
@Akixkisu For stats, recovery, or both?

8:00 PM
@Ben you always add your con modifier

@ThomasMarkov I think that was to be parsed as "(dice roll or average) plus con", not "dice roll or (average plus con)"

I like math cuz the distributive property is unambiguous.

@Akixkisu I have that issue sometimes when the site has just loaded
The drop down menus will instead link to a part of the site or just not open if I click them too fast while the front page is still loading

@trogdor I've definitely had that

9:06 PM
@NautArch for both, but there are fewer issues when rolling for recovery. Generally, it is something that I discuss in session 0.
@trogdor Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that :)

9:53 PM
@Ben yes, plus con

I've received 6 replies to that question haha

@Ben we had a fairly robust discussion about indie games that used household objects yesterday
