Caution: there's a Kickstarter for an "anime" styled 5e variant, and (quite aside from "anime" being a medium not a genre, it's like having a game that uses the style of "books") the project lead has a history of abandoning projects and leaving creators unpaid.

@Mithical at the time I went to bed: a pad of sticky notes worth. I ended up bugging a punny friend for the rest (though I didn’t use the last pad of sticky notes)
You can’t have enough bad puns in general though

Pour a holy water out for my boy. Level 7 Cleric of Mystra got Intellect Devoured. Nat 1 vs. Devour Intellect, Nat 1 vs. Body Thief.
And of course, my character was the only one who knew about the Time Conduit under Icewind Dale and now there's an evil body snatcher working for the Illithids that has that knowledge.
That Time Conduit thing shouldn't be a spoiler for any modules, it's custom and just references older WotC content that describes a Time Conduit in the region.
Also, we failed to thwart a thinktank of Intellect Devourers from body snatching an entire council's worth of political leaders because I got stunned and was unable to call for help. Druid is NOT sure that she killed it with Moonbeam before it could teleport into my brain, but just the idea that Intellect Devourers are about has instilled major paranoia in her and then from her onto the party.
We will now see if the Intellect Devourer can escape a "just in-case mincing".
If it does, my build is actually DANGEROUSLY strong against my party, and could result in one of the strongest villains we've ever faced if it manages to regroup with the Illithids.

@BESW I cant really think of how that would work.
Like, just 3rd party 5e material with anime-style art in the book?

That is also an issue, but probably the least of them. I think being run by someone with a history of not paying creators comes first, followed by not seeming to have anybody on the team who's actually involved in the cultures or industries in question.

I've been pretty MIA. everyone good in here?
@goodguy5 Doing pretty good. We lost our old dog, but we got a new puppy.
How y'all doing? How's goodtoddler?
Goodtoddler is quickly becoming goodchild.

Talking (mostly), singing (ish), reasoning (kinda), active (very).
Sorry to hear about the old dog. loss is always sad, but a new puppy is exciting
@goodguy5 He'd been declining for awhile, and we've been looking for a couple of years for the right puppy. Literally a few days after he died, we got a notification that the place we rescued the old guy from 11 years ago had puppies of the size and type we were looking for (that we'd not seen one we were interestd in in 2 years from anywhere.)
It felt too soon, but it was clearly the right decision. Although we sway between happy and sad right now.
sometimes it works out that way
13:52
hey there btw @NautArch
It's enough to make someone believe in things.
what type of puppy, if I may ask?
@Shalvenay howdy howdy shal!
@goodguy5 She's a hound mix. Tricolor and looks a lot like a black and tan hound.
Should be 80-100lbs when fully grown.
22 lbs at 12 weeks right now.
alright, now to cross reference all of the hound adoptions in the US in the past few weeks so that I can.....
;)
hhehe, i'm pretty sure there's more than enough info in this chat to dox me.
Don't threaten me with a good time
and isn't it doxx?
13:56
@NautArch I still miss my old girl sometimes, and we lost her over a year ago
@BaconyRevanant I'm sorry :( We like to plant trees with their ashes, so we're looking forward to planting a couple apple trees in a couple months.
My dad just keeps the ashes on the mantle
I just realized we don't have a plan for when our cats die
I mean, they're only 8. but still
@goodguy5 You may not even be half way. My parent's cat is 17.
I've encountered 20-year cats
14:04
Appreantly the oldest domestic cat ever was 38 when she finally moved on.
@goodguy5 ah it's usually "doxxing" or "doxxed", but "dox" with one x when just the word
38 year old cat wow. that's potentially a 3 generation cat
Creme Puff (August 3, 1967 – August 6, 2005) was a domestic cat, owned by Jake Perry of Austin, Texas. She was the oldest cat ever recorded, according to the 2010 edition of Guinness World Records, when she died aged 38 years and 3 days. Perry had another cat, Granpa Rex Allen, who he said was born in Paris, Texas, in 1964 and died aged 34 years and 2 months in 1998; Granpa was posthumously awarded 1999 Cat of the Year by Cats & Kittens magazine, and he was featured in an earlier version of the Guinness World Records as the (then) oldest cat ever. == Lifestyle == Creme Puff's owner, Jake Perry...
@NautArch was wondering if now would be a good time to ping you on Discord re: a boat thing
@NautArch How would you feel about a meta that proposes to deem meta topics framed in a way that criticises a curation practice in the question instead of asking about discussing a case as off-topic?
We either need to establish meaningful policy concerning curation practices or agree that all curation practices are created equal.
14:23
@Shalvenay Sure, I'm about to walk the pups, but i'll see what I can do. It's been awhile :)
@Akixkisu That'd be interesting to see, but I like the idea of talking about how to do sometihng in a specific case rather than in general.
@NautArch why the distinction?
Walking pups sounds like a good time.
@ThomasMarkov You wanna downvote and delete this one?
Already did lol, I flagged it like an hour ago.
@Akixkisu I think a question of "what should I/we do here" is better than "How should we approach all of these"
I'm not sure I 100% believe this, lately I feel like I'm becoming a Stack Libertarian.
Good call on the history.se question.
14:38
@Akixkisu Are you the one adding close votes to the questions you recently edited?
Hmmm, actually, I suppose I can just wait for them to enter the review queue and vote to leave open; though they'll probably be closed by then since I'll be at work, ah well XD
@Medix2 If I edit a question in the review queue, then it is extremly unlikely that I will add a close vote. If I recall correctly, then I didn't add close votes to the ones that I edited earlier.
@Akixkisu lol the meta I linked uses it as an example of an off topic question and it was never closed.
@Medix2 Which ones do you think should remain open?
This does not feel opinion-based to me: "What are the advantages of using a d100? Why would you use it instead of the 2 d10 approach?" there is room for experienced answers from those who have actually used them or look into the mathematics behind those dice
@Medix2 Yup, it might be a duplicate question. I think my edit should remove doubts about whether it is opinion-based or not.
Though I know I will never have an easy time understanding what makes a subjective question have good answers so yeah... there's also that problem
14:41
Maybe, I think it's opinion based. But our disagreement is community moderation working as intended, and I affirm your opinion as valid!
@Medix2 already downvoted. I have no more to give!
@NautArch You can also contribute NAA flags :P
Yeah the whole POB close reason runs into a lot of confusing "But is it opinion-based? What is opinion-based? Isn't everything opinion-based?" philosophical mumbo-jumbo that I don't need XD
@ThomasMarkov Yeah, i'm not sure about that. It is an "answer", jsut an extremely bad one.
@Medix2 Think of it more like "Can I answer this with my experience?" If you can't, don't answer.
@NautArch That seems based on assumed knowledge.
I don't think it is an answer.
14:43
There comes a point where an answer is so brief that even a technically valid response to the question isn't an answer.
It's not like I have multiple Meta posts about good-subjective/bad-subjective and history-of-gaming / designer-intent and opinion-based / answerable... totally nothing like that. (Note: I have several)
It makes a correct statement.
An answer that validates an assumption would be good, but it doesn't - it merely states a yes this is.
I'm fine flaggin, got no issues with that.
Either way, it needs one more downvote before we can delete it.
The one on active can likely be duped to above.
but just checking with y'all before the hammer falls.
no hammer, no gold, my bad.
14:49
Btw, if anyone is curious - I went through 134 comments were I linked to the [tour] and of those users that I greeted this way 8 had the badge for taking the tour.
@NautArch dupe looks good to me.
@NautArch that was the one I was thinking about, but my brain didn't come up with the right search words.
@Akixkisu I honestly don't expect anybody to click through those links :(
I have no idea of the click through rate or if that was something they decided to do later.
I do know that none of them had that badge.
Before I posted the comment.
I don't think this should be reopened
14:57
@NautArch Why? The question itself is valid.
The context is outdated.
Looks fine to me.
@Akixkisu I don't think the question was asked in good faith. If someone wants to know that, they can ask it.
There's a bell in the back of my head ringing about it, but I don't remember the details.
@NautArch sure, but it is a good question, and if somebody did that, then I would vtc as a duplicate of thatq.
@Akixkisu UI think the new would could be closed as a dupe of a reask if someone reasks.
But I kinda doubt they will.
I also recently noticed we lost markovchain.
unless that's actually @ThomasMarkov.
:P
@NautArch Whatever the context was 4 years ago, I don't see how it's relevant now. The user has been deleted, and in itself, the question is valid and the answer is good.
15:11
I don't think we can delete bad questions with good answers?
Also that.
At least I've asked about that before and was told not to
I never scrolled down.
I'm not too worried about it, though.
But I see no good reason to reopen it.
One reason is so dupes can point to it
I think if we get a dupe we can handle it then.
I'm not going to vote to close if it gets reopened, though.
15:14
Yeah, fair XD
ugggghhh...... I'm such a cement head
I brought down an internal tool - kinda.

I requested a dns alias and the guy thought I wanted to change the existing alias to the new one, so now none of them work.
16:01
@Medix2 There is nothing wrong with the question itself, but if you are all voting to keep it closed to to its context, then we all ought to delete it due to its context.
Regardless of the good answer
I'm fine with either outcome as long as one of them is reopen and treat as unproblematic or the other is deleted as problematic.

@NautArch That's one step from my current position: Stack Hermit.
@BESW Yeah, that's a pretty good picture of how sociable I feel by the end of some weeks =)
The campaign book tells me that it's designed for a 4-6 person party but doesn't really give much guidance on adjusting the encounters based on whether you have 4 players or 6.
If 5e encounter design is more like 3e than 4e (and all evidence suggests it is), then two or three charactersworth of difficulty is the minimum rounding error already.
Fine-tuning it more tightly than that probably requires specific knowledge of your PCs and their players.
23:54
@Yuuki IME (again, assuming D&D5e) the difference between 4PCs and 6PCs is well within the margin you can create as a GM with terrain, obstacles, monster tactics, &c.
