6:00 PM
@MageintheBarrel reddit.com/r/lfg is another forum for looking for games.

@williamporter he retroactively made himself wrong by issuing errata to that effect; his comments on twitter were made when that rule literally did not exist

@Carcer Which is part of why the Sage Advice article has clarified that his tweets are no longer official rulings. He didn't want people considering his comments that may be outdated to be hard rules.

Twitter is even worse at versioning than the Stack is!

Does anyone have a good method to make the inferior armors, like Leather Armor (Light), Scale Mail (Medium), or Ring Mail (Heavy) relevant at higher levels?

@Xirema 5e I assume?

6:12 PM
@Rubiksmoose Yeah.

@Xirema Make the cost matter
(or the weight)

I personally have never seen a way. We normally just buy the better armor whenever you can afford it and then it just kind of stays that way forever.

@Xirema Homebrew setting or an official one?

@DavidCoffron Generic 5e setting.

@Xirema Well... You could make studded leather exceptionally rare (as it was exceptionally rare or nonexistant historically). Perhaps only exceptional artisans, or particular regions can craft such a piece (even if they only charge the 45 gp for it)

6:15 PM
well, they're not supposed to be relevant, are they? That's sort of the point of the progression.

Right now Studded Leather is always preferable for Light Armor Wearers, Plate Mail is always preferable for Heavy Armor Wearers. Medium Armor Wearers at least get a choice between Breastplate (no Disadvantage on Stealth) or Half Plate (+1 AC).

@Xirema Enemies start using ring-shaped projectiles that are perfectly blocked by the rings on your ring mail.

Well, Ring mail is (in my opinion) is only relevant if you want heavy armor and have a Strength <13

Honestly, sometimes I yearn for the days of PF when you could add so much fun stuff to your items/armor. Even then though, I think this is a case of scheduled obsolescence right?

@Xirema Half plate and plate armor are exhorbitantly expensive and require the best smiths to build, how common are you allowing them to be accessed in your games?

6:16 PM
Scale mail gives an advantage to climbing-related checks.
Leather armor gives bonuses to Stealth.

@DavidCoffron Well, 750gp and 1500gp is peanuts once you've gotten past level 5, and random encounters offer like 150gp each.

Why do you need/want them to be more relevant?

@Xirema Not to mention the possibility of a DM wanting to use an enemy with that kind of equipment before then (subsequently looted) :-/

@Xirema I mean... That's up to the setting and the GM controls how much money is available. If you want to make random encounters provide less, that's up to prerogative
@Rubiksmoose There is a variant rule for that (equipment sizes and body shapes)

the game design is that the crappier types of armour aren't intended to be relevant after a while, yeah, it's just a mechanism for providing some equipment progression in the early levels

Q: Can a human be transformed into a Mind Flayer?

Olivier GrégoireIn the Baldur's Gate III announcement trailer, we can see what seems to be a human be transformed into a Mind Flayer. What is happening there? Are Mind Flayers created by transforming other creatures? I thought Mind Flayers only created Intellect Devourers, as written in the D&D 5E description, ...

@Carcer Which is accurate to history for the most part. No one would wear ring mail if they have access to full plate (and are strong enough, and don't have stuff to carry).

@DavidCoffron Wasn't ring mail the one that people now theorize never existed?

yeah, I don't think this is a case where every piece of equipment available needs to be made equally useful somehow

(in actual warfare)

@Rubiksmoose Yeah. Historians suspect that the drawings ring mail is based on are just shoddy depictions of chain mail

6:21 PM
[mumbles something about plate mail]

@Carcer I corrected myself! :P

@Someone_Evil I'm working on a system for piecemeal randomly generated "low power" magic items, and I'm noticing that while I can just supply Weapons into the system and let it do its thing (because there's not really "objectively best" weapon archetypes) I can't do the same for Armor because Leather Armor +1 and Studded Leather Armor have the same AC, and there's no reason to prefer one over the other. So you have to remove them from the system or you just clog it up with useless magic items.

@DavidCoffron I didn't even notice
was just riffing on armour that didn't exist

@Carcer Don't get me started on studded leather xD

@Xirema well you could always sub back in the dexterity caps from prior editions

6:23 PM
@Carcer Medium Armor already does that though.

(or the fact that leather armor historically was hardened to the point where it was just like half-plate and should give disadvantage on stealth too)

@Xirema no, medium armour just has a flat +2 cap. I'm suggesting you ditch that and make each kind of armour have a different dex cap, as it used to be in prior editions

@Xirema That's only for +1 bonuses though. Other "enchantments" would still be interesting.

@Someone_Evil There aren't very many interesting armor enchanments: Source

@DavidCoffron Oh, I'm definitely homebrewing some new ones. Same for weapons.

6:25 PM
@DavidCoffron But leather armor is made from hide.

TBH, the system is basically a mix-and-match system of Weapon Templates, where each applied template increases the rarity of the final item.

> Leather. The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials.
They mention that it is hardened in the rules, but don't offer the mechanical impact of that

GcL
@DavidCoffron I would expect that you only wear studly leather.
What else would you make underpants out of?
You've got to protect it from those sorts of gnomes you know... they're only in it for the profit.

@DavidCoffron it's joke
stealth checks
hide

Like how does hardened leather armor not impact your stealth, but padded armor (which was used historically if you needed greater mobility) does

GcL
6:28 PM
@Carcer Always hide your stealth checks.

@Carcer ooooooh. over my head

Also, scale mail -> scaling walls -> climbing-related checks.

@Yuuki I see. I missed tht

@DavidCoffron I think the mechanical impact is the +1 to AC compared to no armour

And what does this even mean:
> Made from tough but flexible leather, studded leather is reinforced with close-set rivets or spikes.

6:29 PM
@DavidCoffron what is confusing about that?

GcL
@DavidCoffron I think that's like Mad Max style armor. It increases your screen time.

That must mean that plate mail gives advantages on eating contests

@G.Moylan Isn't that just ring mail with lighter rings?

GcL
And being able to screen attacks makes it harder to hit you.

@DavidCoffron tl;dr someone didn't understand brigandines when they came up with studded leather armor
@Rubiksmoose And studded leather armor gives you an advantage on Charisma checks.

6:31 PM
@Yuuki [sexy tongue trilling noise]

@Rubiksmoose And now you've earned yourself anti-inspiration

GcL
Nobody wrote rules about full plate has ever worn a full helm. You can't hear anything in those except your own breath/voice which is amazingly loud.

@DavidCoffron like this:

GcL
Not in the good acoustics shower way... in the bad deafening way

6:33 PM
@DavidCoffron :'(
I'll add it to the pile

@G.Moylan That image links to ring mail for me

GcL
@G.Moylan I'd wear that over a neon blue fitted button down shirt with cuffs rolled up to the elbows.

@DavidCoffron when I searched ring mail I got a lot of mixed results between what I posted and traditional "chain mail"
@G.Moylan but I would consider what I linked to be closest to the D&D interpretation of "Studded leather"
@GcL you better wear chaps with that

And this is what D&D thinks ring mail should look like I suppose ^
Just big chain mail

it's not that incorrect
Ring mail was mostly iron rings sewn onto sheets of leather and padding

6:36 PM
@G.Moylan The existence of ring mail historically is debatable

GcL
@G.Moylan I only have the assless kind... I think that's -1 AC

@G.Moylan Was it, though? I've come to understand there's actually pretty nonexistent sources for ring mails actually existing as portrayed in DnD

For what it's worth +1 leather armour would be better than studded, because it would be immune to the corrosion effect of Black Puddings. Not much, but it's there

@kviiri it's portrayed enough in various media that it definitely deserves it's own classification. whether or not it was used historically isn't much of a concern

Like there's a guy on Bayeux Tapestry with little circles on his vest, and overenthusiastic historians came up with an explanation

GcL
6:37 PM
@Someone_Evil Just keep an English or Scottish party member, and black pudding isn't a problem.

@GcL but advantage on Charisma checks made with the rear

@DavidCoffron From that picture the clear advantage from this armor is that it really shows off that hourglass figure much better.

GcL
@G.Moylan I like the cut of your jib.

@G.Moylan Deserves a classification in what sense?

@kviiri a distinct label as a "type of armor." It's definitely a unique design

6:39 PM
@G.Moylan Your sentence seemed to imply real as opposed to fictional existence:
2 mins ago, by G. Moylan
Ring mail was mostly iron rings sewn onto sheets of leather and padding

@G.Moylan A label in what context? DnD?

@DavidCoffron true that was poor wording

@DavidCoffron Am considering building off this at least for magic item generation. Like, Studded Leather Armor +1 is Rare, but Leather Armor +1 is only Uncommon.

GcL
@G.Moylan Oh man, the wearing chainmail without a lot of woolen padding as a depiction is one of my favorites.

@kviiri sure. Anything that wants co categorize it as its own thing

GcL
6:39 PM
@Xirema It's hard to put rings on studs?

@GcL RAWWWWWW SKIIIIIIIN. And the HAIR PINCHING

@GcL Yeah. You need something under that or you are gonna get messed up

@GcL It's pretty easy if you ask them nicely I think.

@Rubiksmoose My wife managed ;)

Ringed studs:

GcL
6:41 PM
@DavidCoffron I made that mistake once. Made getting whacked with a wooden sword worse, because the metal pinched me!

> The fiend of a thousand sighs.

@G.Moylan aw man, that would have been much better.

GcL
@DavidCoffron Only when you're wearing them.

@GcL blushes in cringe

@G.Moylan well, that's a tautology :P

GcL
6:42 PM
@DavidCoffron blinging? blushing and cringing about bling?

@kviiri I mean why shouldn't it get its own label as a unique type of armor even if it's a fairly modern invention?

@G.Moylan Fair. But then the question is, is it actually effective (because I imagine if it was we would see it more historically)
And if it is effective, but just hard to make, why is it so cheap in the standard D&D setting

@DavidCoffron even if it was effective it may not have been cost-effective

GcL
@DavidCoffron I dunno... history is a weird mix of really useful and really stupid things humans do.

@G.Moylan Because of a variety of game design concerns. Eg. DnD 5e has clearly made a move away from the table inflation present in many fantasy heartbreaker games and earlier editions

GcL
6:44 PM
@DavidCoffron Like... switching from domed to flat topped helms because of fashion in some places.

@kviiri does it really matter with this though? It's another type of armor to throw into the mix. It adds variety. If we don't like it we can always exclude it, too

Also, why is ring mail lighter than chainmail (in 5e's depiction)

@G.Moylan we are not beholden to the books

GcL
@DavidCoffron bigger loops are less dense?
brass rings? iron chain?

@DavidCoffron becuase chain mail is layers of steel rings and ring mail is leather with fewer (albeit larger) rings. Chain mail also requires several layers of padding when worn properly

6:46 PM
"Ring mail is inferior to Chain Mail, and it's usually worn only by those who can't afford better armor." (I guess this is 5e's answer to why it wasn't seen much historically)

@G.Moylan Gambesons are not light

@G.Moylan Sure, you can always add one more weapon, armor, etc. That's how you get huge tables of largely redundant, statwise, items

GcL
@DavidCoffron I don't imagine D&D gives more than a brief nod to history.

Anyone who can't afford chain historically would get by without heavy armor

@DavidCoffron quilted/padded gambesons or no armor at all was the most common
@G.Moylan at least among the peasantry/militia. Standing armies were slightly better equipped but gambesons were still the most common by far

6:48 PM
I think it is funny that hide armor provides more protection than leather plates
(when leather is literally made from the same hides)

yeah I never got the distinction between "hide" and "leather" armor other than possibly the treatment of the leather and the fur

@G.Moylan I guess you just wear more layers of hide for more protection xD (that explains why the cost is the same even though leather is treated, and why it weighs more to wear hide)

@DavidCoffron ha must be :P

GcL
Now I'm imagining Ralphie from A Christmas Story... just utterly swaddled for that sweet extra AC

@GcL What if you could just stack armors literally as layers for more AC
All the debates about what is viable

GcL
6:52 PM
@DavidCoffron Just hanging out being crushed by a pile of armor. Trading 50 AC for suffocating to death
"neener neener can't hit me.... can't... breathe"

The best I can come up with is: padded, studded leather, chain shirt, plate
Even though that literally would do nothing historically because if you are in plate they are just going to bludgeon or poleax you until you fall down and stab you in the neck or face.

GcL
chain shirt because chain gown sounds less manly?

@GcL TuNiC

GcL
chain dress!
Your choice is a-line or maxi for your chain armor needs. 10gp extra to include pockets.

user15026
Of course pockets are extra :(

GcL
6:55 PM
@Ash pink tax, man. It's a thing.

user15026
Oh, I am so very aware, unfortunately :(

GcL
unfortunately aware or unfortunately a thing?

user15026
Both!

GcL
Good answer.
Technically, I think this can be answered for all D&D editions, but I'm not home to look at my ad&d books: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/149474/…

user15026
(I literally buy my pants from the same store always because I know they have pockets.)

GcL
6:57 PM
I don't recall if monk was oriental adventures or phb in 2nd ed

Eh. I've seen too much research revealing that the concept of the pink tax is mal-justified in false-equivalency and misunderstanding of economics to be concerned about it

GcL
@Ash Not the faux pockets that don't fit a credit card?

user15026
@GcL Even worse are the pockets that don't even open.

@Ash Reminds me of the fake drawers in my parents' kitchen

GcL
@Ash oooo the stitching that's made to look like it's joining two pieces of fabric, but it's just clever stitching! arg. The worst.

user15026
7:03 PM
@DavidCoffron It's like that but on my body :P

GcL
Bag of holding... nothing!

user15026
@GcL Yeah, it's bad! Sometimes you get lucky and they've just sewn the pocket closed, so with a stitch ripper or some scissors you can get it open, but that is very rare.

GcL
@Ash I feel list stitch ripper needs to be the name of a legendary item of some sort

@GcL That makes me want to have some chest that looks to be full of awesome lot, and then when they get close, the chest doesn't even open. It is just a carved tree trunk with some painted wood trimmings to look like gold that are glued on

GcL
maybe casts the old school deep pockets spell once a day
@DavidCoffron awww... not even a mimic. Harsh butts

7:06 PM
@GcL An ominous laughter echos through the room (magic mouth spell) as you investigate the faux chest further.

GcL
Insidious! I love it.
@G.Moylan Do you recall your putative model for running a dance off or dance fight?

Q: Does Assassinate grant two attacks?

JacobtherogueboiI am playing a level 4 almost 5 Rogue Assassin. I have been trying to find out if Assassinate grants 2 attacks, say in the circumstance I fire my shortbow at a surprised enemy and Assassinate comes in to play its an automatic crit. However, I've read on some websites that Assassinate grants 2 a...

Create a Stat called "Style" and calculate as 8 + Charisma save. "Attacks" from one side or the other use Performance checks against standard Charisma save. Successful "Attacks" reduce your Style by one, two on a crit.

This way you aren't modifying an actual character stat, and the stat you're checking against isn't changing your save value.
@G.Moylan this also keep in theme of the more charismatic characters being more effective
@G.Moylan the only real stylistic difference between this and a standard ability contest is the concept of "attacks" and criticals
@G.Moylan and the fact that you have a pool of "health." Once your Style is reduced to zero, you're out

GcL
7:23 PM
@G.Moylan Clever. I could see that being pretty easy to do.

@GcL it's super simple and it's still "combat" in a sense
@G.Moylan it could also transition easily into "real" combat if the dance-off gets nasty
I'm running a one-shot in two weeks, I wonder if I can find a way to work this mechanic in there
Maybe a battle of wits type thing
it could easily be rebranded into anything you want. Change the new stat's name and switch which saves & abilities you use. done
You could even adapt it into a team pool of points. Add the total Style points for your party. Attacks made by one crew affect the other crew's Style points. The first crew to have no style loses
maybe even gain a style point back on a crit, or something

7:39 PM
are there any magic classes with good movement abilities in official sources

@MageintheBarrel dnd 5e?

@MageintheBarrel What do you mean by good movement abilities?

5e
er spells
techniques ect.

@MageintheBarrel Expeditious Retreat wizard spell/ability

@G.Moylan Sorcerers also have that

7:41 PM
@NautArch ^

@MageintheBarrel I mean, there's lots of ways to make a highly mobile caster

what is even the proper blanket term for spell buff attacking tenchniqe ect

@MageintheBarrel buffs :)
probably

sorry that was a list

Also if you play an arrakocra, or however you spell that

7:43 PM
@MageintheBarrel oh, ha! I'm not sure there is a blanket term for all those different things.

spell, buff attacking, tenchnique

maybe game effects?

i think there should be a blanket term

misty step and fly are both on Wizard/Warlock/Sorcerer lists

In terms of building a mobile caster, you'd probably start with the races that have the highest speed. As @G.Moylan said, the aarokocra is great with their fly speed.
So once you start off with a good base race, you can layer on spells and feats.
Mobile is a feat you'd want.
You could also dip Monk to increase your speed, but not sure that's worth casting progression.

7:45 PM
i heard storm sorcerer is has good mobility

You might need to check with your DM on aarokocra though, it being non-AL legal does mean some DMs won't allow it in home games

fligh at level one is too op

@Someone_Evil tabaxi is a decent second choice. I think they have extra movement?

@Someone_Evil My tables don't use the aarokocra
@G.Moylan Wood elves have a 35 base

@G.Moylan A special "dash"-like ability (double speed for one turn, reset when moving 0 on one turn)

GcL
7:46 PM
@NautArch They get preferentially shot at. Flying eagle man? kill it!
@Someone_Evil Yeah, that movement 0 can be really bad though.

I generally prefer stuff that's close to humaniod as possible
i also have a hatred of flying things due to playing to many video games

@MageintheBarrel Wood Elf may be your best bet
but if you prefer another race because of stats, the extra 5 really isn't that big of a deal.
heck, I had a goblin monk which gave me a movement loss to start with, but i was happy with the bonus action tradeoffs

what is the most mobile class period

@MageintheBarrel Depends on how you define "mobile"

good movement abiliites can go far quickly jump gaps climb walls

7:50 PM
The record for most movement in a turn in 5E I think went to a tabaxi monk multiclass

@MageintheBarrel monk

@MageintheBarrel Monk, probably? I mean, you could also just be a Wizard that can fly, teleport, etc.

it may have even been a question here

Rogue is baseline very mobile, especially thief. Monk gets there as well with a higher base speed but resource expenditure for dashing as a bonus action, though shadow monks can teleport short ranges as well. And, of course, any spellcaster with misty step, teleport, dimension door, etc.

Monks get the unarmored movement bonuses

7:51 PM
yeah but don't wizards need spell slots to do that
they can't really use them freely can they?

@CTWind oooh, good point on the rogue.

I thiiink high level monks can move as fast as a double-dashing rogue without a bonus action, but at low levels it's definitely the rogue with the advantage unless Ki is being spent.

Transmuter wizards get +10 movement as a stone ability at level 6

Also, probably avoid dwarves or small races.

i don't really get how spell slots work can someone explain it to me in detail

7:54 PM
@G.Moylan this one?

@CTWind very true - although I again want to my reference my goblin monk build and how much fun it is :)

i thought transmuter wiizards were unoficial

No, they're one of the PHB subclasses.

a shadow sorcerer sounds pretty cool tho

@MageintheBarrel My primary backup character is a Shadow Sorcerer, have been eagerly awaiting the day when I get to unleash her. =D
(For some reason I keep making decisions that keep my current character alive in my current campaign...)

7:57 PM
@Someone_Evil yes that looks like it. notably the second answer
@Xirema phoo on that! RUSH IN!!
Tabaxi or Aarakocra Bladesinger Wizard sounds interesting

i've always been partial to ice magic but from what i've heard the aren't many ice spells
also is there somewhere i can find a full list of classes from the officail sources

i checked there but a bunch of them are locked behind a paywall

@MageintheBarrel the subclasses maybe
all iof the "official" classes are available in the PHB

@MageintheBarrel So every time you long rest, you recharge all your slots. You have multiple #'d level tiers of spell slots (1st level slots, 2nd level slots, etc), getting access to more & higher tiers as you level up. All spells also have a level (shatter is a 2nd level spell, for example). To cast a spell, you must expend a spell slot of at least that spell's level (casting shatter requires a 2nd or higher level slot). Determining which spells are available to choose from varies by class.

8:02 PM
but there are indeed many subclasses that are paywalled there. If you're asking how to find that info for free, we probably won't be able to share that with you, as anywhere that hosts that info for free would likely be pirating it in some way
@G.Moylan DND beyond does at least list them all and show you where you can find more information
@G.Moylan but as far as us being able to tell you where to find all that without paying for it, we can't really do that here. nor should we.
Buying the book, whether online or in-hand, is the way to go

the price of a triple-a game to settle my curiosity is to expensive so i'll just go with what i can get for free

rpg.stackexchange.com/q/63297/15614 is a good resource for knowing what's out there and where to find it, but yeah, as far as details go we can't provide much without stepping into piracy territory. (Hmm, looks like it needs some updating for backgrounds from Ghost of Saltmarsh)

@MageintheBarrel the PHB is usually available on Amazon for around $30

i still think it's unreasonable to not be able to tell people about something by calling it piracy

it is piracy if we just copy paste all that content for you

8:07 PM
you can't go over it and paraphrase it

@MageintheBarrel Firstly, there are a LOT of subclasses, and there are other resources like @CTWind mentioned that generalize some of the info

@MageintheBarrel That is also of dubious legality if you end up using it,

@JohnP ^
If we just copy/paste that info for you we're no different than a photocopy machine

There was a wiki that used to do that, and A) it caused a tremendous amount of rules confusion (we got a lot of questions that were due to bad paraphrasing from that wiki) and B) all that content still ended up getting taken down.

still don't get it but if the government says it's piracy it is

8:10 PM
@MageintheBarrel I get it, I really do. If you're dead set on finding it all for free, it can be found. But we aren't going to aid in that search
@G.Moylan if it can be pirated, it's online SOMEwhere

not going to ask you to
kinda feels like their copywriting the content of an enclycopedia to me is all

But they wrote the content, so it's theirs to do with as they please. They choose to charge people for it
it's not like they OWE us anything

even video games let you preview their content

Yes, and WotC does provide everything you need to play for free on their website. Character sheets, basic rules, classes, etc. Even pre-generated characters up to level 10 to get a feel for how certain classes play.

@MageintheBarrel But, they wrote the entire encyclopedia. That's the point.

8:13 PM
but to get the "advanced content," you have to buy the books

That ^^

saying if you want to know whats in this book you have to buy it is the problem

The books are unsealed specifically so you can browse in your friendly local game store.

do they sell this stuff in bookstores

@MageintheBarrel There are numerous reviews of all the books freely available, that will tell you the general content. Or you can borrow from a friend, or see if the bookstore has it.

8:14 PM
the post @CTWind posted tells you exactly what's in what book, same as DNDBeyond. Sites like the DMSGuild also let you preview a couple pages from most works

@MageintheBarrel Both new and used, yes. As well as many hobby/game shops

@MageintheBarrel oh yeah it's everywhere now.

Also if it is listed on Amazon, they may have page previews as well.

@MageintheBarrel Yep! Check for local hobby shops. WOTC has a site to help you find local stores that participate in D&D events: locator.wizards.com/event-reservations-web/…

Amazon usually also has lower prices. But supporting your local hobby shop is always nice for the industry and your community

8:16 PM
we have such a store in my town they have a dnd al table so they most likely have copies there

@G.Moylan - I hardly ever buy hobby items from amazon. I firmly believe in supporting the local guy.

@MageintheBarrel they likely will. With luck, they may even have some staff members that could point you in certain directions

@MageintheBarrel Yes, and also players that might let you look at their copy as well.

I'm also pretty sure large chains like target & barnes and noble carry the books nowadays.

@JohnP I do too but MSRP is SO high sometimes. it's reeeeeally hard to beat 50% off on Amazon

8:18 PM
@G.Moylan unfortunately true.

but I suppose that's the point

D&D's my hobby indulgence so I'm good with buying the fancy cover books to support my local stores :-p

is there like only 1 cleric class available for free?

yeah there's only a couple free subclasses for each class

Hey, @DavidCoffron

8:25 PM
A wild @NautArch appeared!

@JohnP Hey! It's been some time since I've been greeted personally on here
(since @Shalvenay and I were in here together)

@DavidCoffron I happened to see your avatar slide into the active list.

@MageintheBarrel Yep. Just the Life Domain. You can find all of the free subclasses here.

[sad trombone]

I have a feeling we will never get the onebox back :(

Hmm, if they broke all the one-boxes, does that mean they broke shortcuts too?
Stack Exchange is a network of question-and-answer (Q&A) websites on topics in diverse fields, each site covering a specific topic, where questions, answers, and users are subject to a reputation award process. The reputation system allows the sites to be self-moderating. As of September 2018, the three most actively-viewed sites in the network are: Stack Overflow, Super User, and Ask Ubuntu.All sites in the network are modelled after the initial site Stack Overflow, a Q&A site for computer programming questions created by Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky. Further Q&A sites in the network are established...
Oh hey, at least that still works.

Not all the oneboxes are broken, just Twitter and Amazon I think

With a thing like one-boxing, it's a process that brings in information from a lot of third-party sources and processes it to produce the same effect for every source. If that effect borks for only one source, chances are it's the source, not the processing, that changed.

@Ash Oh, I thought multiple sources borked.
Which is why I thought one-boxing itself got screwed up. Because yeah, if one source dies, then it's probably the source. But if multiple sources can't one-box at the same time, then it's the processing.

Afaik its just Amazon and Twitter

user15026
but I might be wrong

Amazon's been broken for awhile but Twitter happened recently, I think.
Twitter one-boxing was definitely working before my vacation.

user15026
Twitter was relatively recent yes

Since May 16 according to the (unanswered) MSE post. (which I bountied. I suspect it will do nothing but hey I tried.)

user15026
Oh, Youtube oneboxing is apparently also borked

user15026
mmmm okay, never mind, that was related to something else apparently

user15026
So yeah, as far as MSE reports go, its Amazon and Twitter

Monster of the Week resource page updated with the new playbooks from the Tome of Mysteries.

I have no idea if this will help, but I tweeted about the lack of Twitter oneboxes.

@Ash I don't mind them not fixing one-boxing but if they're not going to fix it, then add a special feed option for Stack Status.

user15026
@Yuuki I'd like them to fix it, but yeah, at least deal with the Stack Status one

Maybe if people amplified Ash's tweet to get some attention, that'd be good.

10:02 PM
have a good weekend all o/

@BESW consider it amplified ( such that I can anyways)

10:53 PM
I would if I actually had a Twitter
XD

user15026
Well, I appreciate teh intent if nothing else, @trogdor :P

Lol
I have been tempted on occasion

user15026
I mostly use mine to yell about romance novels and then also to yell loudly when I have a new blog post up in case people wanna read my rambles.

11:15 PM
Fair enough

11:25 PM
If I had one I would probably is it to talk about books too
Like the Xandri series, and "An Unkindness of Ghosts" and how they actually capture Autistic experiences
Stuff like that probably
But like, I don't have that much to say, I feel like making an account to say that into the void wouldn't be worth making the account in the first place?

user15026
11:47 PM
Mine is seriously mostly "I AM READING THIS BOOK IT IS GOOD YOU SHOULD ALSO READ THIS BOOK"

user15026
@trogdor I am halfway through Failure to Communicate and I love it so much. I am going to be hecka sad when I am done these books.

Then you'll be In the same position as me
My villainous plan is complete
XD

user15026
Ah, I see how it is

Lol
