guess what, you guys? the IRL group I'm DMing LMOP for finally had a session for the first time in like 2 months! (it was delayed a while due to scattered availability and illness)
my players tend to be easily distracted, and one player tends to tire from longer sessions/if we play too late, but we started around 7:15 pm EST and managed to wrap up by 10:15 or so. they basically just knocked on a door, failed to convince the bugbears on the other side, and dealt with the fight
our wizard cast Blur on himself before they went in and had the Staff of Defense, so he just charged into the room after the door was opened and managed to not get hit once (though he did have to cast Shield once)
He tried to convince the apparently hungry bugbears they had food, but rolled a nat. 1 with a -1 Persuasion mod. the bugbears moved their barricades and opened the door after muttering their plans to kill the intruders and take their food (or use them as food), so naturally it ended up being a fight
I ended the session right after the fight... wizard player was already conking out
Curious for anyone who's used both: How similar do warlocks and Eldritch Knights feel in combat? Been building up an Eldritch Knight archer idea in my head as an option for my next campaign that starts up, but I started having the worry that EK with a bow is going to feel a lot like my current eldritch blaster warlock. I think having a different variety of spells available and action surge is enough to make it feel different, plus I have a very different out-of-combat skillset, but unsure.
Depends how you build the warlock. Generally they depend on their cantrips more than EKs do.
Warlocks will tend to have more debuffs like enchantments and tricky whatnots, they aren't limited to blasting. Whereas EK magic is mostly limited to damage and damage defense.
I'm kind of figuring the EK has the flexibility to go in and tank if necessary, putting away the bow, pulling out a rapier/shield and using... well, shield. I'm kind of assuming a lot of my lv 1 & 2 slots are going to be spent on shield and maybe some kind of mobility like misty step.
@MikeQ Metal Gear Solid 2 is kind of a fun game to play in retrospect, with the game often revolving around the concept of memes before the word meant wacky internet antics.
If the re-re-release it, I vouch for them renaming the Philosophers into the Memelords.
@Shalvenay I think I did once a long time ago, but can't recall which of my overly long answers it was. I recently made what I think was an overly long answer on Christianity.SE but it was still inside the limit.
Hello fellow grammarians,
I'm fairly new the board, so forgive me if this has already been covered but...do we have a preferred style?
My question specifically regards the "RAW" (rules as written) acronym?
Generally, the style tends towards not using the article "the" in front of acronyms b...
