But I could be misremembering from when I tried to find stuff for OA on 3.5e for a particular build and ended up pulling stuff from a previous edition.
@nitsua60 I don't think the weight is supposed to be attached to that particular end of the kusari-gama, is it?
Though it probably makes more sense where it's at in the art. e.g. if it's at the bottom of the handle and someone gets a hold of the other end... them pulling means you have to either let go or potentially get sliced through the hand (and ideally, using your weapon shouldn't give a strong opponent a distinct advantage)
Yeah, I guess that's probably the sensible place to use it. So as to avoid the swinging ball being caught (on a horse or a hand or whatever) yanking the sickle out of your hand and attempting to pull the blade through your hand. With it on the head it'll just yank it out of your hand .
@Delioth About the only time attaching the weight to the butt end of the handle makes sense is if you're whirling the sickle around like a meteor hammer, I guess.
@Zachiel The www doesn't matter, that's determined by the site (it isn't actually part of the domain or site name, just part of the url you need to use, in the same way there's rpg.stackexchange.com, and others) do -site:pinterest.* (pinterest has a ton of extra .stuff, like .co.uk, .ca, etc; * is a wildcard)
@DavidCoffron That isn't what the answer says. How long needs to be adjudicated via the DM's down time guidance (although IIRC XGTE has some guidelines, and there was a UA a while back ... )
I prefer the "avatar of ____" direction: Deities do not directly influence the tangible world except through avatars, which can be scaled to different levels.
@DavidCoffron Last I checked, the highest char stat is 24, but can't recall where I saw that beyond these two points: the highest/cap I've seen was referred to in the DMG regarding the two Artifact Tomes (can raise up to 24) and the Barbarian "raise to 24" class ability. However, it is open to question regarding how the various books (very rare) that give +2 can be cheesed to get multiple readings (what with the 100 year interval on the book recharging)
@DavidCoffron That's where the Athar from Planescape would say "If they bleed like a mortal, and die like a mortal, maybe they're just powerful mortals, not true gods."
If a DM lets PCs get to a high enough level and power, and provides weak stats for Deities, and provides a means of challenging said Deities, they are entirely responsible for any world-breaking results that may come of their campaign.
@ColinGross yes, but didn't Crawford have a comment on that? @DavidCoffron yeah, I didn't see a limit on epic boons in the DMG, so I guess you can take that up to 30.
Can I increase an ability score over 30 with an item such as a Manual of Bodily Health?
[After reading] this book... your Constitution score increases by 2, as does your maximum for that score.
@DavidCoffron Depends on whether deities should be beatable. If it has stats it means it's still measurable (i.e. it can fail, and it can succeed): in my settings Deities don't have stats because they're complete masters of their realms/spheres (i.e. they can't fail) and they don't have any influence on other realms/spheres (i.e. they can't succeed). In other settings, there may be more of a gray area that requires stats
To be fair, it's not the worst backstory for a magic item
Imagine some kind of Egyptian jeweler down on his luck so he summons a demon or whatever and makes a ring that lets him win at gambling, and then over time his descendants tweak and improve it
Certainly better than the tired "you found a super cool magic sword, knowledge of how to make it has been lost" spiel
You won an ALL EXPENSES PAID trip to the Feywild! See BEAUTIFUL mountains and AMAZING glades! Get lost in the magic of the native wildlife! Just leave your castle's title information in a scroll at this location and we'll bring the portal to you!
@DavidCoffron That's it. I've got to do a campaign where one of the major set pieces is a dwarven mountainhome whose slightly-senile King took up a traveller's "deal" that's exactly that... and so there's a bunch of pissy dwarves in the feywild. Maybe some nearby kingdom is wondering why steel shipments stopped (or the players are dwarves pissy about the feywild trying to get back)
@trogdor For like a Fighter or something, it doesn't seem to matter. But what about a Wild Mage? Were they casting fireballs and stuff by mistake while trying to do minor illusions at 6?
@trogdor Generally, yes. But there are applications if you know when you get the level. If little Timmy wants to be a wizard but has 12 intelligence, it suddenly becomes applicable when there's a transition
