@AshleyNunn I remember someone else talking about seeing this ad as a kid and totally missing the point of the very badly written commercial (don't believe everything you see on TV) and being sad when they found out it wasn't real.

Hmmmm. Trying to decide if I want to go more party support or fighting with my feats. Right now I'm looking at 1 Skald's Vigor, 3 Power Attack, 5 (something), 7 Leadership, 11 Discordant Voice, 13 Greater Skald's Vigor.

The feats aren't that difficult, there's just a lot of good choices. :P Rage powers will be harder. I've never worked with them before, and I definitely want those to be party support since they get to use them, so I have to think about everybody else.

Skald. They're a bard/barbarian mashup, basically.

Their bardic performance gets replaced with raging song, and once you start getting rage powers, your party can use them too if they can hear your song.

in fact, it makes perfect sense for that combination to share rage powers with the party

@trogdor A year ago I was playing one ODD game, one 2e game, one 5e game, and a (classic) Traveller game. As of this day they've all pivoted to playing 5e. I like it and all, and I'm glad to be able to help answer questions, but it's not my favorite....

I usually go for a magic class and do battlefield control. My alchemist did damage, but it was all ranged and still involved control.

So I'm doing more melee and more support than I'm used to.

I play it mainly because my friend runs it. :P

It isn't that I don't enjoy it, but it's not my first choice.

@Pixie I tend to think in terms of "make the group awesome by flowing to whatever hole needs plugged" -- which works great in a game like EVE where you can be a jack-of-all-trades without being OP or lame

I used to be big into the running-into-people's-face's-and-hitting-them thing,... just in RPG's though XD

Oh yeah, I base my initial choices on how the group shapes up. There's just usually been room for a control mage, and that is something I enjoy a lot.

Our current group is a bit non-standard, but fun: cavalier, samurai, oracle, investigator, and my skald.

does anyone heal?,... or is that not a big thing in Pathfinder?

but at the same time, that seems problematic when the environment doesn't really allow a character to do that if you will (either because it's not favorable to group management, or because people insist on leaving "holes" unfilled intentionally)

Having some healing is good, but I've often not had a primarily healer in the group. Sometimes a couple of people split it because their classes have the option but nobody focuses on it. I think the investigator can probably pick some up too.

in 4E we didn't get far without someone who could heal a LOT

Oracles can do several different things, but they do get healing options.

my brother was the best support class (an unholy hybrid of Shaman and Warlord),.... and then he left and other people rotated until I landed on heal duty for the rest of the campaign
