Anyone (including @KorvinStarmast, whose old Psionics answer I was just reading) know if there's truth to the notion that Psionics were first added to D&D because mind flayers/intellect devourers were just too darn powerful? Are there any articles or interviews about it?
Mine used to be something from a manga, which will come as a shock to no one. :P But lately, I've been fond of some of Camus's. The one I like the best is not exactly inspirational, but: "Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal."
