Part of the deal with old school gaming is that:
- Ruleset is fast and loose and intended to be interpreted and balanced by the group.
- Players will want a bunch of other experiences attached to their game, because they see it as the RPG that can/should do anything. So, lots of house-rule type options are offered by the game.
- Warranty is waived on all parts of the design and playtesting is limited, and responsibility for performing the repair work and dealing with the fallout is placed on the player rather than the designer.
