@BESW I'd be curious, if you can find them again!
And the whole Microscope kids tag on that site.
Includes links to things like this.
I must go! My clients need me.

@BESW Fly, Batman, fly!

And I shall read these! Thank-y!

Oi, a buddy of mine wants me to make a 3.5 character for him based on a character from a show, anime, whatever (his words). As far as I can tell all official 3.5 material is allowed (including books that have been updated to 3.5 like BoVD and the like with the free update pamphlet) as well as dragonmag and the like. I'm supposed to make this character from 1-10. I want to make him something interesting and a bit unusual, but he doesn't want anything too exotic.
He was thinking about a charismatic leader type as well. Any ideas for characters/builds I can look into? I have at least a couple weeks to make this.
Will be lurking for a while. Got my creativity juice and all night to screw around, and I'm in the upswing of my bipolar so I'm all bouncy and wanna create regardless.
Just in case I'm not paying attention, tag me in a reply please? kthx -bounces off- =^w^=

I can't add anything to this. But it's the most brilliant hashtag ever. #TildaSwintonForIndianaJones
10:12
@BESW I'd watch this.
@doppelgreener I think it's in response to rumours that Chris Pratt might be starring in an upcoming Indy film.
(Possibly in conjunction with announcements of a female main cast for the new Ghostbusters film.)
10:35
hullo all
@BESW Aw. I was thinking she'd be playing Indiana Jones. (A female one!)
But, Chris Pratt being in a thing of some kind is a concept I am a general fan of.
@doppelgreener Yeah, I think the hashtag is saying she should, instead of Pratt.
@Asteria Hi!
@BESW I'm ok with this as long as there's still plenty of room for Chris Pratt to be doing a thing.
Heh.
11:01
@BESW how are you :P
Could be better. I had a great Cthulhu Dark scenario idea that I've now totally lost.
Yourself?
going pretty well, got stuck with drawing all the characters for a game this Saturday so I won't be sleeping tonight xD
Oh my.
...I kinda want to do that for some of my games, but I never get around to it. My figure-drawing skills are way out of practice.
I only got stuck with it because the DM busted me drawing my character. I'm not very good at people xD
I (very briefly) had a GM who drew all the PCs and main NPCs and posted them up around the table during sessions. It was kinda nice.
11:13
that would be cool :D
Right now, that'd mean drawing.... a female technician, a man with a sword, a plant woman, a swamp monster, and an ageing Man in Black agent.
Add in a couple giant mutant moles, a frail guy hooked into a dieselpunk VR machine, a spiderbot tank, and a personality sphere made of chrome, brass, and ivory.
haha nice :D
Maybe also a knockout blonde in a red flight jacket with rocket boots and a ray gun, a humanoid dragon with cyborg parts...
...I love this campaign so much.
xD it sounds pretty interesting
11:39
Hrmm... Considering a Bard/Crusader build... Or going for a Suel Arcanamach for levels 7-10 (and something else to compliment for 1-6).
@BESW I second that
so you guys create pretty unique campaigns then?
For me, it depends on the system, and how ingrained certain campaign types are in the system, but generally yes!
cool :D
11:54
Comes from brainstorming with the other players, and just taking up their ideas.
-growls-
Does anyone know how to find some of the old wizards forum posts?
@Dorian I wouldn't know.
I'm looking for a particular build.
And every bloody link is dead because of their reorganizing/pruning/etc.

Q: How can I continue to access Wizards of the Coast's D&D 3.5 Web articles?

Hey I Can ChanIt appears that in anticipation of D&D Next Wizards of the Coast has removed much of the Dungeons and Dragons, 3rd Edition Web content. I didn't perform a thorough search to determine if all the content is removed (e.g. I know the Three Dragon Ante Web enhancement "Luck of the Draw" and the Mind'...

Q: Are the WotC archives of d20 Character Optimization forum forever lost?

apacayI was looking for the Wizard Handbook but all the links were broken. Somewhere on the handbooks of other classes (on other forums) I saw a This was archived by WotC, here's the link But the link leads to the welcome page of WotC (since it's broken). Is there a way to get all that info ba...

@Asteria We're playing a Fate campaign using the Atomic Robo rulebook, but with our own setting where Weird Stuff (science and magic) is everywhere in the corners of the modern world, just out of sight to the average person.
@BESW Not looking for their articles.
@BESW I'll check this out.
11:59
@Dorian The article question has answers which may be of more general use.
@BESW I already know the info those answers give though :P
The setting is largely "discover as we go," with everyone pitching in to define whatever Weird Things we run into: amazon.com has a secret cold fusion development lab, a crystal skull was buried in Nevada 200 years ago, Charles Babbage's brain was preserved alive in a brain/computer interface pod 150 years ago and helped NASA do its Moon landing calculations...

awesome :D
I would not have been surprised if that had shown up in our campaign
12:16
Hmm... Either Bard5/Crusader5 or Battle Dancer4/Paladin2/Suel Arcanamach4
fighter 10 imo
@doppelgreener I assume "IMO" stands for "In Mad Oppositeland."

(It usually seems to, regardless of application or context.)
...I'm really surprised I haven't gotten any downvotes on my answer to that "defend against a necromancer" question. I'm glad a more direct answer is getting more upvotes, too.
12:51
@BESW do you mean the defend against an evil cleric question?
Yeah.
It's a cleric who throws around spells with negative energy and the 'necromancy' keyword. It's a necromancer.
very well c(:

I'm starting to want to play this Suel Weaver build man o.o I like gishy and this sounds fun to play.
...now I kinda want a picture of Azog floating under the ice with the words "NEGATIVE I AM A MEAT POPSICLE."
@BESW you've taken over the star feed again.
Morning.
morning c:
Still got about 45 minutes to go.
13:11
Ooh, base the Bardsader off of Brutal Legend hmm....
13:21
[sigh] Why does Primeval's absolute disregard for basic scientific principles bother me not one jot or tittle, while Primeval: New World can get me on a "That's not how magnets work" rant less than four minutes in?
Maybe it's because New World takes itself so much more seriously?
13:39
I'm amused that this question might actually come up in our Fate game if I ever play Agent Diamond again.

@Dorian Compliment, give it praise; or complement, make it better by accompanying it?

Reading responses to this question: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/44856/…
In 3.5 D&D, how did GMs work around the "linear fighter/quadratic wizard" imbalance at high levels (I never played high level games)?
user61230
One way was by giving fighters huge items and bonuses
it's also worth noting that the top answer there hasn't been updated since BD&D came out
Once a high level spellcaster runs out of spells & has no chance at resting (say in a really big dungeon), isn't that when the fighter becomes a valuable asset to the party?
@RobertF yes, but even in 5 it takes a long time for that to happen. On the order of a dozen encounters per day at high levels
The other option is force the wizard to burn thru lots of spells fighting the boss - then the party still has to fight thru tons of minions while escaping the dungeon.
19:36
@RobertF the thing is, most of the wizard spells, specially the high slot ones, can simply trivialize the boss fight. That's a bit less true now. But still more true than not
@waxeagle - You mean spells like "Wish"?
@RobertF wish is the tip of the iceberg.
more like Power word stun, power word kill (though the HP caps on those help), but other similar types of spells
feeble mind
@waxeagle - Yes, I know, I'm over 40, I'm getting old. :)
19:46
heh, I feel old, and I'm not even 30 :(
falling apart this week, knee pain, lost filling...
Yikes - my wife has had battles with her fillings this past year. No fun
mine was less than a year old :(
Ok, those are really nasty spells. I think the challenge for the high level spellcaster would be to hold on to his high level spells like Power Word Kill (and maybe Teleport to get the party out of the dungeon if things go south) & not squander them early before a chance of resting.
yeah, lots more resource games for the wizzy to play. Most of the fighter's stuff is per short rest
But by the time you get to level 10 or so, wizzy is packing so many slots that the resources just aren't that much of an issue
(given typical workdays)
And of course by the time you get to Level 10, I imagine a wizard can hire a hundred mercenaries as a meat shield in case he does run into trouble.

@IronHeart Both. Because I'm tired.
@Dorian he's capitalizing on a brand that draws 4m unique hits a month.
that's a lot of potential
(and hell, it's a lot of untapped potential yet)
Yep, though you gotta admit that's pretty friggen wicked for a bloody card game.
@Dorian it is. I've been part of a few million dollar KSes and all of them have had much higher per pledge amounts
21:04
Also, I'm tired, couldn't figure out how to make links again lol.
lol :)
If I can somehow get 35 bucks before the thing ends (highly unlikely considering my financial situation) I'll be pledging myself.
I'm a bit curious to see what the final retail price is if they ever do retail distro. $20 is on the high side for a card game, but not totally out of line for independent games (and, ultimately, this is a fairly small card game)
(ignoring the NSFW deck which is supposedly a KS exclusive...though based on how it's selling I'm not sure they can stick to that)
21:35
@Dorian good choice of adjective
22:24
@mxyzplk I'm open to suggestions on what could be cut out of my question. I guess it could probably do without the middle section and just be left as the top two paragraphs and the section about Animate Object :)

Q: Is an extraordinary lack of research effort on the part of the asker a good reason to vote to close?

the dark wandererSome questions asking for rules clarification aren't just fairly easy for anyone familiar with the game to answer, the correct answer is immediately clear upon reading a single, short, clearly marked, indexed, and easy to find passage of text inherently associated with the asking of the question....

The 1st rule of roleplaying game design is that maces do d8 damage. Any game that says otherwise is either lying or not even a game at all.

I'm looking for resources to help me with an upcoming Cthulhu Dark session idea, and I accidentally typed madness and dream campaign without rpg to modify it.
First result? Potato salad Kickstarter.
