@Aaron If you have had any single bonus to an ability score for more than 24 hours, that bonus is considered a permanent bonus and grants bonus spell slots at spell prep time as appropriate. Searching for support for that rule.
Wait, is this 5e?
If so, then yeah, no bloody clue.

No it is pathfinder.
@Metool I knew about that. What I was trying to figure out was how the headband and Ioun stone would interact with eachother.

Are they both explicitly enhancement bonuses?

Final ruling is they would not stack.
They are enhancement. The reason I was unsure if they would stack or not was the permanent thing.

Ah, yeah, no, both enhancement bonuses that just happen to be effectively permanent, so you're right in that ruling.

But that only effects the skill points not the stacking.
@Metool The only homebrew thing I might do is allow something like fox's cunning to effect the character as it is temporary.

6:19 PM
Ack, bonus stacking.

I have fallen in love with Ioun stones. They are awesome XD.

They are!
And when you get a dull grey ioun stone, you can crush it and drink in the energy for an extra power point!
(That happens when one of the spell foiling ones has foiled its last spell levels, I think.)

It is somewhat too bad they float around your head though. My DM might let me make something like a materia slot on my equipment and put them in that.
@Metool Dull Grey stones can't do anything except float around you.
Good for casting something like continual flame on or such a spell though.
Give a silence one to the front line fighters and annoy those enemy mages

@Aaron Find "Table: Magic-Psionic Equivalencies" here.

@Metool Ah.

6:23 PM
> Dull gray stones are useless for magic but still harbor just enough resonance that a psionic character can eke out 1 power point before the stone is gone forever.
Buy in bulk, kids!

Right
Those things are cheep
>Price: 25 gp
Cost to craft would be 12.5 gold.

> Craft Wondrous Item, creator must be 12th level; Cost 12 gp, 5 sp
Experience level 12? Huh, neat.

I would say dropping 100k into a bunch of those would be worth it. Crafting it yourself would mean you could get 10. That is 50 more hp

A nice little durability boost.

6:39 PM
I want to build a fighter who has a bunch of those. Or even better. Give him all the deathless feats and a Sh*t ton of these. d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/h-l/…
Hmmm. It doesn't explicitly say it stacks.

> You can only benefit from one tourmaline sphere ioun stone at a time.
So it explicitly says it doesn't stack.

Aw sadface

6:58 PM
in addition to hte tiefling bit that was previewed today, WOTC dropped a bit of bard on d20monkey:
.@d20monkey For you and your fanatic following of bard backers, here's a tiny tease to tide you over! http://t.co/ZekcNUWjaO

@Metool Not exactly a bad thing lol.

@waxeagle for your question, how do you want multi attacks factored in or advantage in certain circumstance?
or do you just want the avg damage of 1 hit from 1 attack

7:51 PM

@BESW What are we looking at?

Meeeeeee.

Ah

See the biggest purple dot in the centre grid?

yea

7:56 PM
That's Guam. The white stuff in the image is heavy clouds.

I see. A satellite picture?

Yup. Tropical Storm 09w is currently passing us.

How bad of a storm is that?

Winds up to 30mph with gusts to 40mph, probably about 6 inches of rain.
It might delay my RPG group because driving in that is a bad idea.

Really? I thought tropical storms were worse than that.

8:02 PM
Nomenclature! Tropical typhoons are bad.

Nomenclature?

Whoops.
There.

Ahh.

This guy's just barely out of "depression" status right now; he's speeding up, and that reduces wind speed.
Also, he's passing north of us so we aren't getting the strongest bits.

So a tropical storm is almost a severe thunderstorm.

Country Tornado Minimum hail size Minimum wind speed Minimum rainfall rate per hour Source
United States See Tornado Warning 1 inch (25 mm) 58 miles per hour (93 km/h) See Flash Flood Warning [1]
Errr about halfway down the page I mean @BESW

8:08 PM
Y'all don't build for it.
We've got some of the strictest building codes in the country; our houses are shaped like concrete blocks, and also made out of concrete blocks. The idea that a wooden house is more than maybe twenty years old is almost totally unheard-of here.

Too much damage?
I think the house I am living in now is over 100 years old.

Yeah, but not just from typhoons. I can think of.... three, maybe four partly-wooden houses that have survived for thirty+ years. Two of them weathered the storms but are falling apart and rotting. The other two are historical landmarks.

How common are tropical storms?

The humidity and insects make wood extremely impractical as a long-term construction material.
We haven't had a direct hit with a typhoon in about ten years; this 09w is one of the biggest we've seen in a while.

I have a meeting. I will be on later. Sorry for the abrupt retreat.

8:15 PM
But compare the '90s when we had four typhoons in half a year, and at least one almost every year the whole decade.

8:39 PM
hmmm it seems my one player actively undermined my first basic session with or without meaning too

Oops. Or, yey!

1 hour later…
9:59 PM
@Grubermensch [wave]

Oh hey.
(I am currently investigating the scrollback)

I'm doing a puzzle while listening to Chameleon Circuit and thinking about what I need to do before my RPG folks get here (a puzzle is not a thing I need to do).

@BESW Puzzles are the worst. I can't stop once I start one, and I only ever get hard ones.
At the beginning of the summer I got one as a gift that was ~30% cloudless sky.
So. Much. Time.

My dad's supposed to do 'em as part of his physical therapy.

2 hours later…
11:37 PM
yo yo yo
I once spent 2 weeks home with pneumonia and bronchitis working on a 10k puzzle of atlantis with my mom

Wow.
When I spent a week with a fever, I watched all seven seasons of Buffy.

hah nice
being home sick in middle school is how I discovered quantum leap on daytime Sci-Fi
