So I built a race the other day!

oh?
Are they humanoid snails? With adorable tiny little vestigial shells and cute stalk-eyes?

That would be a scary race
No I build a race of four armed, three eyed, half constructs with wings and multiple spell like abilities.

bat, bird or pixie wings?

Bird/metal if they have to replace them.
The reason the race is half construct is due to racial weaknesses they are forced to replace parts of themselves in order to survive.
My next character in our campaign is the first of this race.

the first, or the first with added construct parts?

7:26 PM
@DampeS8N The first

@Aaron Is the race asexual?

@DampeS8N No but they are closely related to humans.

@Aaron And interbreeding with humans results in fully-fledged examples of this race?
Was your character born of a human?

@DampeS8N Born of a human who had an accident with magic causing mutations which will pass on to children.

@Aaron Here's hoping you don't get him killed! :)

7:36 PM
@DampeS8N Indeed. I am thinking of playing him slightly promiscuous.

@Aaron He better be! He sounds like something most women wouldn't really be into. A niche market for sure.

He is a decedent of Hephaestus, my current character is Hephaestus's son and he had twins with Artemis's daughter. My next character is a decedent of one of those two twins and part of a family of world renowned crafters.
@DampeS8N Lol I could always play him like the monk on Inuyasha. What's his name again?

Once you go greco-roman mythology, logic isn't an issue anymore. Those people had Zeus turning into animals and things to make it with women. Because they would rather do a swan than the king of the gods...

This is very rad.

8:05 PM
Anybody familiar with Fate Core? I have a question and I'm just not sure how to formulate it without turning my question into multiple questions

@MrJinPengyou I'm fairly familiar with Fate Core, what sort of questions do you have?

Basically I want to know how to modal the fact that my dwarf can see in the dark. Is it just assumed as part of my high concept (Dwarf warlord let's say)? Let's go further. If I have a race with wings and every member of that race can fly, is it the same? What about Eladrin who can teleport

Well, you can do it several ways: you could use an Aspect to point out his special vision, you could have a Stunt that provides the ability to use your Notice regardless of light levels (or could even provide a bonus in low-light situations), or you might even consider an Extra that defines your race as a whole including everything about dwarves in your universe
It really depends on how critical that specific component of your character is to the game, for you, for the GM, for the story/setting, and for the group overall

I like the Extra because I can make a requirement to have a related Aspect
I always thought aspects should be really personal so nobody really have the same aspect.

Exactly. With races as an Extra, it is something you select during character creation that you can tie to an Aspect, and it in-turn can have further Aspects (and even possibly skills for things such as relationships and social situations)
I wouldn't go so far as to make an absolute out of it, but generally within the groups I play with we go to lengths to make sure we use slightly different Aspects, even to describe the same thing, if only to add unique flavor to the characters

8:26 PM
@DampeS8N This is true. Though I think the swan story was not consensual.

Q: How do I qoute RPG.SE material outside the site?

OpaCitiZenHow do I quote Questions and/or Answers outside the site that I've written myself for the site? Secondarily, how exactly do I quote - again, outside the site - Q&A by others? And what's the difference between the two, if there's any? I know "user contribution is 'cc-wiki' and 'attribution requ...
