Yeah. Just a little underwhelming. I hear the wildshaping variant for rangers is a little more versatile, tho'. I'd like to ask you (possibly again, stupid memory) why do you want ranger except for already knowing how the class works
@Shkeil Just to inform you, be aware your spellcasting and animal companion will be inferiro in any aspect to the druid, and your melee fighting probably so from level 5 afterwards
@Shkeil So be it. Mmmmh I don't think rules for assigning ability scores are on the SRD. You basically start with all 8s and 15 points. There's an increasing cost to get higher values. Do you have an handy table, Aaron?
I'm trying to round out my library of core books for The Bronze Coin and realizing it is impossible to get any real sense of popularity. I'm afraid I'm just going to have to buy books as members request them. I'd just like a well-rounded library to start with. haha.
Everyone's list of best RPGs is always totally different, other than the few staples of White Wolf, FATE and D&D variants.
Even Shadowrun doesn't appear often enough on lists to be statistically significant. It is driving me mad. hehe
I tried going to shops and seeing what they carry, but even THAT seems to be more based on the owner's personal preference than on anything else.
@DampeS8N we typically play around a dining room table, with chairs. But the other week we played roll for shoes in a living room with coffee tables and it worked really well
@Trajan I'm not surprised by any of it. Just frustrated that there is no real way to predict what folks are going to be requesting the most ahead of time.
I've got a smattering of everything: GURPS, FATE, Savage Worlds, D&D, WoD, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, Fiasco, so on.
@Trajan I love how the vast majority of gamers have been so beat down by choicelessness in gaming locations that they don't even think about how things could be better. :)
@Trajan I'm opening one. Calling it a Roleplaying Guild. It is the Gym model applied to table top RPGs. So we own all the cool things, and members get to use it whenever they want.
@Trajan Yes, lots. The idea is to remove all the barriers to entry. You don't need to hunt for players, you don't need to buy a bunch of books, you don't need to buy and store a bunch of maps and minis and things. You have access to props and tools and tons of support.
@waxeagle indeed. I'm more interested right now in things for making all the game management go smoother. I know lots of people use milk rings and pipe cleaners and things, so I am buying what I can. Probably will do a milk ring drive at some point. :)

a weapon that is etheral in nature, fashoned from silver and supposedly can hit incorporeal creatures as if they were flesh, and ALSO ignores the armor and shield AC bonus of the attacker if they have any, is that a fair weapon?
That sounds a little much, because that's an average of +4 to the attack roll against an arbitrary enemy (and could be up to +12 against Full-Plate user with a tower shield)
but I don't know much about the magic in 3.5 so take that with a grain of salt.
The weapon would be making touch attacks as regular attacks. As far as I'm aware that's really rare even as class features
looking at some magic items, there are a few that give a separate Touch Attack, that doesn't do weapon damage but some other effect.
Example:Flame Tongue This is a +1 flaming burst longsword. Once per day, the sword can blast forth a fiery ray at any target within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The ray deals 4d6 points of fire damage on a successful hit.
Moderate evocation; CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, scorching ray, and flame blade, flame strike, or fireball; Price 20,715 gp; Cost 10,515 gp + 816 XP.
Look at the "Spectral Weapon" spell in Complete Adventurer. It is a spell that gives a weapon kind of like you describe.
Its rounds/level and the person being attacked gets a will save and if they pass the weapon only does half damage.
I just looked at the rules for creating magic items found here: d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm and the formula is: Spell Level * Caster Level * 2,000 (* 4 because the original spell is based on rounds) so the minimun it can be is 3 * 8 (cast by a wizard) * 2,000 * 4 = 120,000
That sounds like a Brilliant Energy AND Ghost Touch weapon to me, cumulating for a +5 or 6 effective bonus. Way above the 30k price tag, and still can't hit ethereal creatures anyways.
@JamesJ.ReganIV Those rules are extremely broken. A slotless item of permanent wraithstrike (all you attacks ignore physical armor) costs way less than one would reasonably expect.
