There's a few people at work who play that, it looks kind of neat.

erm
where is that?
(also, very typical chinese company naming scheme)
@JourneymanGeek bought a couple filters in an image-editing app, this was in the invoice
> You've made a purchase from 广州微咔世纪信息科技有限公司 on Google Play.
05:05
Okay c'mon
This is just ridiculous
Why would you remove the headphone jack from an iPad, but give it USB-C?
Hey! So now you can use flash drives with your iPad, but... Not while listening to music?
Removing headphone jack from large devices is not justified, and it pisses me off so much

> At a guess (and this is just based on my intuition, not any calculations), there are probably no undiscovered objects larger than 1 km close to earth.
bit of a leap
How large is say, the space station?
9
A: Considering our methods of exploration, how likely is it that there are unfound planets (not dwarf planets) in our solar system?

IngolifsThere are no undiscovered planets between the sun and Neptune Objects closer to Neptune that are large enough to be considered planets (and not dwarf planets) can't remain 'hidden'. If it's there, the light from the sun will bounce off it and we will see it. As it moves in its orbit, we will not...

/me honestly doesn't know
And how do we judge 'close to earth' ?
i believe it is roughly the same size as an american football pitch
which is....
;D
London buses, plz.
10:35
4 laid out in a square? shrugs
11:04
@Bob Neat!
How many bathtubs would that be?
@Bob Could be fun to get an RA instance, if enough folks are interested
@Bob that's kinda cool
its £15
11:19
1 space station = 32,333 cubic feet
1 bath tub = 80 gallons = 12.8435 cubic feet
1 space station = 2517.460193872387 bathtubs
2
weird
Setup port forwarding in vbox for http (port 80) from 127.0.0.1 to the internal Ip of the vm
and.... no worky in chrome
Wondering if I have to restart the VM to have the port forwarding settings apply :/
check the chrome DNS lookup
@Burgi uwhatnow?
chrome://net-internals/#dns
but I'm going to a IP...?
11:28
oh
1 space station = 32,333 cubic feet
1 bath tub = 80 gallons = 12.8435 cubic feet
1 space station = 2517.460193872387 bathtubs
1 london bus = 11.23 m * 2.52 m * 4.39 m = 124.235244 m3 = 4387.326236923 ft3
1 space station = 7.369636597317726 london buses
@Burgi Not a bad guess. Out by only a factor of 2.
@DavidPostill that's volume, i think @djsmiley2k was referring to area
I was actually just wondering about seeing it from earth
and it's a pin prick in the sky
so.... anything smaller would be invisible
(obviously if you use telescopes etc that changes things)
Hmmmm virtualbox, y u no forward
/me isn't sure which bit isn't working right now
The ssh forwarding rule works
its REALLY bright
looking out the window, can confirm.
11:38
i mean the spacestation
LMAO
Lmao
Goddamnit, chat
1 space station = 108.5m (w) * 72.8m (l) = 7898.8 m2
1 london bus = 11.23 m (l) * 2.52 m (w) = 28.2996 m2
1 space station = 279.0922839898797 london buses
2.52 m is the width, not the height
11:44
@djsmiley2k It'smore than a pin prick as you can see it with the naked eye and it is larger than any stars.
it should be 160.2200419069487 london buses
@Burgi The height is 4.39 m. so only a factor of 2. It's still lots of london buses.
it is pretty big
but can only support 8 people
and not indefinitely
and is falling to earth, slowly
@Burgi And why are you comparing it by height? You don't see the height of the station. You see the surface area. I don't know which way it is oriented when viewing from the earth.
11:48
and now has no way of not fallening further :(
@djsmiley2k Why?
@DavidPostill I believe it's out of fuel

Q: How often does ISS require re-boosting to higher orbit?

ViniterI know that ISS, being in low Earth orbit, requires regular boosts. But I can't seem to find information on how often does this happen. Is it done during each resupply mission, only during some of them, or are there missions which sole purpose is to boost station's orbit (doesn't seem likely, but...

> Only the Space Shuttle (retired) and then Progress or ATV (Now retired) when docked to the aft of Zarya can reboost the station. The station has the ability to boost itself, and is refueled by Progress.
and...... all the refueling ships are retired.
how quickly will elon musk get something built to refuel it?
@elonmusk Any chance you can save humanities hope of staying in space by building something to refuel the ISS please? #SaveOurISS
Lets get this trending ;D
12:04
but elon musk is a crazed drug addict
Why do you think progress is retired? it delivered supplies (including fuel) in July. You are referencing a 3 year old question.
the ATV is human rated but the ESA don't have the cash for it
> Progress MS-09 is delivering 2,567 kg (5,659 lb) of supplies to the Station, including 530 kg (1,168 lb) of propellant, 52 kg (114 lb) of oxygen and air, 420 kg (926 lb) of water, and 1,565 kg (3,450 lb) of dry cargo.
> The current limiting consumable is food, which without Progress MS-09 is currently stocked through at least December 2018 (not counting other resupply crafts scheduled throughout the rest of the year).
So they were short of food, not fuel.
@DavidPostill I like how the measurements for the bus are in metric units and you convert them to imperial afterwards @DavidPostill but also thanks for the bathtub math. ;)
Still a shame that we can't keep going to space but have near unlimited budgets to wage war.
12:19
well they don't have any fuel at all
its the progress ship that has the fuel
@Seth its warfare that put us in space
john glenn went to space on a modified minuteman missile
@Burgi 11 quid from Steam?
Not the cheapest I do agree
But somewhat unique
isn't there a huge security risk by using actual real javascript?
> Real programming, not just pseudocode. You can use libs from real projects.
@Burgi So the 530 kg (1,168 lb) of propellant has all been used up?
@DavidPostill thats just for thrusters not the boost
@Burgi and von Braun was just interested in going to space. What enabled both to do it? The budget not the warfare. Doesn't mean that the "pressing" need for advancement caused by war can't have an accelerating factor but maybe less war and more science would be cool. But the whole thing gets political rather fast so I'll just leave it at that.
12:29
@Burgi That's not what the link says. I've not been able to find a reference that says there is no fuel for a boost.
@Burgi Sandboxing! Tho tbh I have no idea, might be?
so they don't even need SIMs...
well for proper dual sim support you use one physical sim and one eSIM
i already have a physical sim
13:11
@Burgi you heard this too then?
13:51
wtf?

1 hour later…
15:02
xss!
I really wish Firefox's internal password manager detected this.
@djsmiley2k apparently this has been in place since 2013
/me shrugs
I don't know if Norton Security can detect things like this and intercept the attack (assuming it's an actual attack). IME it has intercepted a number of malicious redirects in the past.
it isn't an attack. they use the 3rd party for "identity management"
15:17
@XKCD To ensure voter privacy, photography is prohibited at poll sites. Like most democracies, we have a secret ballot, and voters have a reasonable expectation of privacy with respect to their votes.
that doesn't apply if you opt to take a selfie though, right? You are waiving your right to privacy
Bob
Bob
15:33
@Burgi I think the idea is you cannot produce any evidence of your vote. So the mafia can't coerce you into taking that selfie.
ah
15:55
yup
tbh i don't understand the problem with the law
want to prove you went? Take a photo with you being ticked off the sheet that shows who attended
Take a photo of you going through the door way, or by the sign, or.... so many other things
@Bob Here in the US, research organizations like the Voter Participation Center can determine if a particular person voted, but not who they voted for.
The content of the ballot is secret and voters have a reasonable expectation of privacy with respect to who or what they voted for.

Assuming this all works out, the image in this tweet is also a valid ZIP archive, containing a multipart RAR archive, containing the complete works of Shakespeare. This technique also survives twitter's thumbnailer :P

I'm ambivalent about this transaction. On one hand, Sprint is dying and this will accelerate the adoption of 5G technology; on the other hand, this acquisition brings us down to three carriers.
As a T-Mobile customer, I'm expecting further advances in service quality to be enabled through this transaction, but I'm also a bit concerned that plans may get a bit more expensive going forward.
17:54
@bwDraco lol'ing so hard @ usa carriers

@ThatBrazilianGuy today’s challenge: do all that on an iPhone without a server
