I'm not a fan of sexually explicit content, but I ultimately have to applaud Square Enix for making the decision to not censor content.
Free speech comes first. Besides, such mods always existed for the likes of Skyrim but never became prevalent enough to pose an actual problem.
Plus, Steam Workshop support (why am I not surprised here?) and optimizations to allow the game to run on a broader range of hardware.
Hopefully, they'll come out with a proper modding SDK for FFXV.

> what's stronger in my mind is the fact that I don't want to limit people too much - this is part of the culture of gaming these days. These people - it's a thing they've bought, it's their game now.
This is how you win and keep customers - by listening to them.
It's really nice to see that Square Enix is following in the footsteps of Bethesda Softworks and not unduly limiting what the modding community can do, rather than making the mistake Take-Two Interactive made with GTAV.
01:39
(though GTAV's issues are of a different nature, involving clashes between modding and the multiplayer component of the game)

@bwDraco GTA5 issues had nothing to do with mods being used within multiplayer, the program that was forced to be discontinued (due to a law suite) could not be used with multiplayer. It has everything to do with an over zealous company over reaching hence the reason they backed down

Q: We've drastically simplified the user deletion process!

animusonThe short of the story here is that we have a brand new deletion process now live on all network sites, and it's simpler than it's ever been! Why a new deletion process? Well, the old one was pretty much a combination of various features that have been implemented over the years. To give you a ...

Q: Desktop, content-aware / path-aware backup program

allquixoticFor backup strategies that don't provide "unlimited" storage (especially those that bill by the gigabyte like Amazon Glacier, Backblaze B2, etc.) there is a strong motivation not to backup things that can be re-downloaded from the Internet for free anyway. @JourneymanGeek ... ... ... I'm reading that thread right now. 5 minutes ago I was going to quote the exact same sentence.

> The most common issues that this function identifies are:

Power circuit failure, such as a failed fuse or power converter chipset
Motor seizure or heads sticking to disk platters, for example, a mechanical issue preventing the drive from spinning up

The function also identifies some other failures, such as a failed motor controller chipset or a failed CPU. However, identifying these failures may require some expertise. You must compare graphs taken from a failed drive with graphs from a good drive of the same family, because the lower level diagnostic is drive-specific.
@DavidPostill isn't every single thing mentioned there related to the drive
not to the controller at the motherboard side.

@rahuldottech It doesn't affect internet privacy, afaik.
@Nick well, you know wrong
It affects how internet corporations can store, collect, use and share data
@rahuldottech I think in the future India could easily become far more progressive and liberal than the US with lots of pro-citizens rights type things, pro-Internet rights, could become really attractive if we become the Glorious American Empire over here with Emperor Trump
pretty much any government other than the US is at least more agile and less gridlocked, and thus more capable of change with enough political will
@allquixotic yep :)

@allquixotic but no, it's different here.

if beaten/drugged then yeah it's rape.
if it's a boss and an employee then not really.

So the ISP telemarketers cold-called our home while I was away and the wifre agreed to raising our connection from 5 to 10 Mbps for a small price increase.
Despite the tech from the same ISP who installed our ADSL a few years back having had a hard time making 5 Mbps even work and declaring our lines are terrible.

> Can Americans please stop measuring things in football fields?

@rahuldottech You should ask the UK and Canada to stop as well
An unusual unit of measurement is a unit of measurement that does not form part of a coherent system of measurement; especially in that its exact quantity may not be well known or that it may be an inconvenient multiple or fraction of base units in such systems. This definition is deliberately not exact since it might seem to encompass units such as the week or the light-year which are quite "usual" in the sense they are often used; if they are used out of context, they may be "unusual", as demonstrated by the Furlong/Firkin/Fortnight (FFF) system of units. == Length == === Rack unit ==...
>Football field (length)

An American football field is 160 ft (53 yd; 49 m) wide and 360 ft (120 yd; 110 m) long, including two 10 yd (9.1 m) long end zones.[5]

A Canadian football field is 65 yd (59 m) wide and 150 yd (140 m) long, including two 20 yd (18 m) long end zones.

Media in the UK also use the football pitch as a unit of length, although the area of the association football pitch is not fixed, but may vary within limits of 90–120 m (98–131 yd) in length and 45–90 m (49–98 yd) in width. The usual size of a football pitch is 105 m × 68 m (115 yd × 74 yd), the dimensions used for
*facepalm*
@JourneymanGeek: Today is National Dog Day, woof!
So 1 football pitch is somewhere between 90 and 140 m. Not exactly a good measurement to use.
@rahuldottech Can Indians please stop measuring things in Brass?
> One brass is 100 square feet (9.3 m2) area (used in measurement of work done or to be done, such as plastering, painting, etc.). It is also equal, however, to 100 cubic feet (2.8 m3) of estimated or supplied loose material, such as sand, gravel, rubble, etc. This unit is prevalent in construction industry in India.[
22:00
@DavidPostill We... never do that?
> This unit is prevalent in construction industry in India
@rahuldottech You better go and correct Wackypedia then :)
> Media in the UK also use the football pitch as...
Media is more prevalent than construction companies
I mean, I don't even live in the western world and yet keep hearing stuff being compared to football fields
And the worst thing is that you can't even tel if they're talking about real football or not -_-
@DavidPostill big surprise /s

You guys have trivia and games and quizzes and shizz in pubs?
Why am I missing out on all the fun?
(Notice how I didn't mention alcohol. Don't care much for it... yet)
Apparently even FIFA cannot decide how big a football pitch is ...
> In March 2008 the IFAB attempted to standardise the size of the football pitch for international matches and set the official dimensions of a pitch to 105 m long by 68 m wide.[5] However, at a special meeting of the IFAB on 8 May 2008, it was ruled that this change would be put on hold pending a review and the proposed change has not been implemented.
