so it appears that win10 has a stripped down version of skype installed
Yea, it's balls.
any ideas on how to either remove this or change the ports it uses?
Can't you just change the ports in the options?
nope
hi
22:36
@Burgi It appears in Apps & features; can you remove it there?
i removed it with powershell
:D
annoyingly still can't apache to work
something else is using port 80
Sysinternals TCPView is pretty great
Alternatively netstat has a thing for this
PID 4 - System
22:39
Oh right
Yeah this is for IIS/http.sys
i don't have IIS installed
Does stop-service http free the port?
I went through this with my 2012 R2 box. Ended up just using 8080 instead. :\

Q: Port 80 is being used by SYSTEM (PID 4), what is that?

GiHI am trying to use port 80 for my application server, but when I perform netstat -aon I get: TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4 When I look up the process in task manager, it shows PID 4 is SYSTEM, that's it. No extension... nothing. Just "SYSTEM". What's going on here? I'm afraid to end...

A: PID:4 using Port 80

apokaliptisOk, after searching the web for a while I found a solution to my problem. Just follow these steps to diagnose and resolve your issue: Get pid that is listening port 80: netstat -nao | find ":80" Open task manager, go to processes tab and check “PID” in Menu/View/Select Columns…, then look for ...

hmmm...
regedit here we come!
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> stop-service http
stop-service : Cannot stop service 'HTTP Service (http)' because it has dependent services. It can only be stopped if
the Force flag is set.

Yeah, there are some other things that depend on that; you can see them with get-service http -dependentservices
And to stop them all in one shot, supply -force
Oh look it's Patch Tuesday
The update icon in Windows Update now grows a red exclamation point when there are security updates pending, heh

the force didn't work
done regedit, going to reboot now
Believe in the force, you do not.
Was there an error?
You might have to do it a couple times because some services like to come back up once or twice
@MichaelFrank I am one with the -Force; the -Force is with me
Time to get back to learning PowerShell.
23:06
the regedit hack worked
i probably needed a reboot anyway
@BenN i kept getting a yellow "waiting for the service to stop"
i cancelled the command after 5 mins
There are quite a few dependent services and it can take a while for each to stop
HAMMERTIME!
thats not going to get annoying
But if a reboot and regedit fixed it, perfect :D
stahp
23:21
HAMMAHTIME!

HAMMERZEIT!

So... I rigged up something to charge my watch on the way to work....
does it not charge enough overnight?
@MichaelFrank kids, don't try this at home
@Burgi Ha yea.... Also, that movie was really bad.
@Burgi I was too tired and forgot
23:35
have you thought about a normal watch that lasts for several years?
Naw
Well part of the point of this is my stepcounter and notifications
ah ok
I hadn't worn a watch for years before that. Phones do well enough
23:54
Heh. I generally don't leave home without my Seiko Coutura on.
(radio-controlled, solar-powered)
##caaaaaat
@NotDog That didn't make much sense. Use the !!/help command to learn more.
Blargh
Was it really that recently?
@NotDog I have a Spirograph kit at home.
@MichaelFrank Some people brought some to a party a few weeks ago, first time I'd seen one in years
Someone linked it in here a few hours ago, first time I'd learnt the name of those things!
The digital one is a lot easier to... not miss
23:59
Yea, I got it as a present a little while back. Before that it would have been at my grandparents as a kid.
