@DavidPostill it's more the repetitiveness... otherwise not much point trying to limit topics in this room. I'm assuming you're speaking as a user here (well, I am/was anyway), not a mod.
@bwDraco Create a blog, or two. Use that to voice your insights, but also as a résumé for the future. Take the opportunity to turn your enthusiasm and energy into the chance to become recognized as an expert/authority on that set of hardware. Even use Twitter posts to drive traffic to your blog.
@Bob Well, this brings up an oddity in my philosophy. Personality and human nature are not set in stone. If something about myself is bad, I'd rather work to get rid of it altogether instead of working around it. A workaround is not a permanent solution.
Okay. A final summary of the lessons learned: 1) I need to actively avoid attention-seeking behavior. Yes, hardware news is exciting. However, it does not mean I should post everything interesting that comes up. 2) Empathy is a key factor here. This is not a place to put out everything on my mind, it's a place to *chat* with others. It would be better if I tried to follow existing conversations rather than just post stuff on the same topic repeatedly in an effort to get someone to respond.
@BenN Because if something is bad, it should be permanently eliminated using a direct approach, not circumvented through some crude workaround.
The real problem is not the passion I have for computing. It's my attention-seeking behavior and disregard for others.
@Avery It may not be obvious due to improvements made over the last several months, but I've had a long history of issues caused by my desire to get attention.
What needs to be resolved is this lack of empathy and attention-seeking behavior. My point is that channeling the emotions by posting in a blog or other venue does not address this problem, it only moves it elsewhere. In fact, by continuing to allow this behavior, even in an alternate environment, it may even be counterproductive.
Whoever is flagging these messages, please stop. They're not offensive solely because they contain profanity. They're not meant to be offensive towards anyone.
