ok really weird, it still OOM's tho I'm not saving anything to memory
no wonder this thing is so crap
HA!
fracking customer services
i just found their email saying they had tested that database change
@Burgi That's your Customer Services or the clients CS?
user226528
If only I knew WHO is in charge of these stupid audits!!!
@FleetCommand wow you're being investigated by the WHO? ;)
@FleetCommand They are automatically generated :)
user226528
16:31
I was reviewing first posts. There was an answer. Nothing was wrong with it. But I posted a comment for it. BAM! Audit failed. What the hell? What's wrong with commenting on a post?
@FleetCommand Depends on whether it needed a comment...
@FleetCommand Yeah, that's a big loophole and annoyance
Well, probably not loophole, but annoyance
28
Q: Failed audit for making a valid comment?

leigeroI was given an audit that I felt didn't belong on StackOverflow, but perhaps would be a better fit on CodeReview. I made this comment to the question as it was still a well worded question and not in need of down-voting or deletion, but the OP should consider moving it to a more relevant location...

@FleetCommand But in the main audits are there to keep you on your toes and make sure you're paying attention.
A failed audit here and there isn't a big deal
If you always fail them on the other hand....
user226528
I AM on my toes! That's why these audits annoy me.
16:39
@Mokubai True that
user226528
There was once this question for which I spend one hour researching for verification. When I finally made my move, the system said "Congratulations! That was a test! You passed!" To this date I am surprised how I remained calmly on my chair and didn't swear my guts off Bruce Willis style.
@FleetCommand Meh, you're pretty careful about posting good stuff too. But there are anonymous downvotes as well . . .
So I guess there are nuisances we should just shrug off and move on to
@FleetCommand The first rule of Audit Club? Keep calm and have a cup of tea.
And maybe some biscuits.
@Mokubai No, that's the second rule
The first is ''you don't talk about the Audit Club''
ok now I'm really really confused.
user226528
16:43
@Mokubai That's what I did and that's what I am regretting.
@djsmiley2k Why?
user226528
By the way, I drink my tea with rock candies.
@M.A.R. so PHPExcel is a mess.
no, it's worse than that infact but alas, whatever
I load up a range of 10 rows at a time, it STILL runs out of memory when it gets to 7092 rows
Well, I've gathered that anything that contains "PHP" is a mess
@M.A.R. Why not? Audit Club is awesome.
16:48
which means even through I'm limiting it to 10 rows
it's still trying to load the entire sheet, and not discarding data as it goes along.
@DavidPostill ours
@Burgi Well at least you are off the hook ...
we are ready for may 4th :D
cinema grade projector and cinema grade surround sound
$filterSubset = new MyReadFilter(9,15,range('G','K'));
so if i want to do this, without implementing the 9 and 15... just the range
it's (,,range('Foo','Bar')); right?
@Burgi that reflective table tho D:
it will be moved out of the way
17:03
good stuff
@Burgi what is on may 4th?
dude....
/me screams
[Thu Mar 30 18:11:43.639041 2017] [:error] [pid 1374] [client 10.0.2.2:61886] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in /var/www/html/Classes/PHPExcel/Reader/Excel5.php on line 2164, referer: localhost:8080/upload.php
it shouldn't be confuming any memory
well, no more than it consumed prior

Sigh, not sure why i bother anymore
tho this one hasn't OOM'd yet o_O
However it's not outputting anything either, wtf.
17:24
PHP sucks.
Mar 13 at 13:11, by bwDraco
I've written PHP code myself and it's a really poorly designed language. It just doesn't feel consistent or cohesive.
that moment when you find that ubuntu ships without even curl
(ubuntu server)
@bwDraco well yes, but I'm no better versed in anything else right now so
it's like telling me english sucks
Heh.
yes, it also does, it's confusing, non-consistant and downright frustraiting at times
@djsmiley2k By Shor, why is your application using more than 128 MB of memory?
@bwDraco If I load the whole (15Mb) sheet, it uses over 1Gb :(
17:38
What the f---?
@bwDraco trying to parse a xls
The only tool I can find written in php is PHPExcel
Yeah, but this is nothing short of outrageous.
which uses redonkious amounts of memory.
as you've seen
that error? that's me trying to read 3 rows, from A to T
22
Q: PHPExcel runs out of 256, 512 and also 1024MB of RAM

Richard KnopI don't understand it. The XSLX table is about 3MB large yet even 1024MB of RAM is not enough for PHPExcel to load it into memory? I might be doing something horribly wrong here: function ReadXlsxTableIntoArray($theFilePath) { require_once('PHPExcel/Classes/PHPExcel.php'); $inputFileTyp...

yeag
I've filtered down to only read in 3 rows at a time (even with 1 row it fails) because it's dumb.
you say 'Only load row 23453'
it goes 'Ok, I'll load rows 1 - 23453, store everything in memory, then give you row 23453'
17:41
rofl
at least I think that's what happening
because I can't explain it any other way
Wait, you're loading 23453 rows of Excel spreadsheet using PHP?!
18:18
no, 3 rows
the idea is to filter and write them out to csv
anyway i'm home now at least
i get the feeling i'm not understanding the object exactly
and so me clearing the selection isn't freeing up the mem
but i'm unsure exactly how to free it up :/
and ubuntu still doesn't have wgetpaste in a package?
ffs

That’s just silly. Everybody knows that RAM only runs on Windows.

19:12
@djsmiley2k If you want to jump down a rabbit hole, you could load the XLSX as a ZIP file, open the worksheet XML documents inside, and grab the cell contents out of that
Hey, I can think of a scripting environment that could do this pretty easily ;)
@BenN I'd prefer to just exec xlstocsv in a shell and do it that way via php xD
19:23
ugh i wish i had a beer
i know that feelin
@BenN there's lots of ways to do it pretty easily
cept I need an idiot proof way
so click a box, wait, click a box, etc
Also it's a learning exercise, no ones told me to do it XD
20:04
That is the greatest GFSE I've ever seen!
20:15
lul
20:38
Hey @Bob, did you notice the new data usage counters and the fact you can set wifi networks as metered/hotspot now on Nougat?
21:14
So a number of years ago I built a home server for my folks (y'all might remember me grousing about it on occasion); it was 4x3TB RAID6 accessible by llvm to a Xen Dom0. I'm going the route of 4x3TB over RAID6 again to start with for myself- should I go Xen again, or has virtualisation moved on in the intervening period?
(thought I'd ask before I start down the rabbit hole of reading up on $n different 'comparison of virtualisation options' articles)
@bertieb This was one up in the roof or something?
@DavidPostill Well remembered! Aye, in their rather dirty loft
Yeah, I remember some jpgs
it literally has a couple of bits of wood screwed to an upright so a cloth can be draped over it to cover it
Heh :P
Clearly the brain bleach didn't work
Mine is also in my loft, but it's much cleaner (the main area has a carpet in it as of this afternoon, even)
lol, americans!
@bertieb 10th April i get my fibre!
21:18
@Burgi Oh hey that reminds me- my coop asked me for my TIN (tax identification number)... think I don't need to send them that if they go under? ;)
(NB I am actually sad that the coop is in grave difficulty)
@Burgi Gratz :D
Hope it works flawlessly from install
(I am assuming they sorted the problem with the network loop they claimed was there and wanted you to test with two different phones)
@bertieb only the bank bit is in trouble, the retail arm is fine
@Burgi That's the part that I have a large overdraft an account with, and which wants my TIN :P
yeah it hadn't been connected up properly where the lines entered the building
the ex CEO of the coop bank was not a banker or a business man
he was a priest who was hooked on crystal meth
@Burgi The money was just resting in his account?
Either way, sounds like a recipe for success
Maybe he can go manage BHS next..?
So most of the Xen/KVM discussions go back several years
21:34
the headline says it all
> adding that the Church should be "more adventurous”.
@Burgi Crystal Methodist? D:
he was a methodist preacher and hooked on crystal meth
the tabloids couldn't help themselves
groan
Crystal Methodist indeed
21:58
Hello everyone
Hi!
Bob
Bob
@PowershellforLinux o.O
22:15
Oh OVH just released a bunch of Skylake Xeon E3 v6 servers
Still nothing below £120 per month if you want SSD+HDD though
Bob
Bob
22:30
@PowershellforLinux only until I got swype up :P
@PowershellforLinux :(
@PowershellforLinux ...I already had a network set as hotspot, think I did it on marshmallow at some point
22:56
@bertieb KVM is good.
23:32
@Bob Hmm
I wasn't aware you could limit wifi connections at all before
I still wanna try out Android Pay, but since it doesn't supprt my main amex card or my secondary main bank's any card, I doubt i'll use it much
Only use I can think of for it is if I lose my wallet
Bob
Bob
@PowershellforLinux funny that... if I lose my wallet I can still withdraw at ATM via the bank app :P
@Bob I think one of my banks at least support some form of emergency cardless withdrawal, but I'm thinking more POS transactions since I hardly ever use cash if the place takes cards. Or is McDonald's
Or both.
@Bob, what if I told you, I know where you live?
At least to within 2-3 blocks or so
@bob dunno if you got this with android pay but when I added my bank card it gave me some T&Cs direct from my bank and also my bank sent me a 2fa code to my mobile that I had to enter into the Android pay app.
No fraud prevention block or nothing but I suspect having my bank's own 2fa probably factors into that
Well that worked surprisingly seamlessly.
23:59
@TOWMN - I tend to just chuck a spare card and a 50 dollar bill in my phone case.
